Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In entering upon this course of instruction, each of you should, so far as possible, lay aside, for the time being, all previous theories and beliefs. By so doing you will be saved the trouble of trying, all the way through the course, to put "new wine into old wineskins" (Lk. 5:37). If there is anything, as we proceed, which you do not understand or agree with, just let it lie passively in your mind until you have read the entire book, for many statements that would at first arouse antagonism and discussion will be clear and easily accepted a little farther on. After the course is completed, if you wish to return to your old beliefs and ways of living, you are at perfect liberty to do so. But, for the time being, be willing to become as a little child; for, said the Master, in spiritual things, "Except ye . . . become as little children, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven" (Mt. 18:3).

Book Christ s Object Lessons Illustrated

Download or read book Christ s Object Lessons Illustrated written by Ellen G. White and published by Digital Inspiration. This book was released on 2013-02-05 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heritage Edition—Over 100 illustrations of a century ago. Unabridged, original text consisting of inspiring and profound lessons from the stories and parables which Jesus told. Christ the Great Teacher gave much of His instruction as He walked with His disciples through the hills and valleys of Palestine or rested by the lake or river. In His parable teaching He linked divine truth with common things and incidents, as may be found in the experiences of the shepherd, the builder, the tiller of the soil, the traveler, and the homemaker. Familiar objects were associated with thoughts true and beautiful—thoughts of God’s loving interest in us, of the grateful homage that is His due, and of the care we should have one for another. Thus lessons of divine wisdom and practical truth were made forcible and impressive. The Scripture says, “All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; . . . that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.” Matt. 13:34, 35. Natural things were the medium for the spiritual; the things of nature and the life-experience of His hearers were connected with the truths of the written word. Leading thus from the natural to the spiritual kingdom, Christ’s parables are links in the chain of truth that unites man with God, and earth with heaven. In this volume the parables are grouped according to their subjects, and their lessons are developed and illustrated. The book is full of gems of truth, and to many readers it will give a richer meaning to the common surroundings of everyday life.

TWELFTH LESSON Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in die power of his might--Eph. 6:10. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.--Phil. 4:8. Every soul is by nature, or believes itself to be, in bondage to the flesh and the things of the flesh. All suffering is the result of this bondage. The history of the children of Israel coming up out of their long bondage in Egypt is descriptive of the human soul, or consciousness, growing up out of the animal or sense part of man and into the spiritual part. "And the Lord said [speaking to Moses], I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; "And I am come down to deliver them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey." These words express exactly the attitude of the Creator toward his highest creation (man) ever since. Today, and all the days, he has been saying to us, his children: "Surely I have seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt [darkness of ignorance], and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters [sickness, sorrow and poverty]; And I am [not I will, but I am now] come down to deliver you out of all this suffering, and to bring you up unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with good things." Sometime, somewhere, every human soul must come to itself. Having tired of eating husks it will "arise and go to my Father." "For it is written....

It's a great technique for grabbing children's attention and introducing them to some of the more abstract concepts in the Bible. Here's a few examples: 1) An extension cord can be used to represent the power of the Holy Spirit that keeps us "plugged in" to our father! 2) Mittens, hats and snow wear represent the whole armor of God 3) Cell phones remind us to "phone home" often when God's on the other end of the line Now you can get 28 deeply impactful, yet simple object lessons that use common household items to reveal the nature of God! __________________________________ Here's a glimpse inside: -Each of the 28 lessons includes a Message Overview, Scripture References, Materials Lists, Preparation Notes, and Concluding Prayer. -You'll also get a step by step Teaching Script containing the exact words you can use to drive the true meaning of the lesson home. -Most lessons take between 10 and 15 minutes if they are taught exactly as presented. (But you can easily shrink or expand the object lesson to fit your time constraints) -These lessons contain interactive elements that all your students (ages 4-14) can participate in. -Object Lessons can be used by any Denomination with any Bible translation. -The only materials you'll need are already lying around your house!
