Download or read book Impact de la nutrition sur la sant bucco dentaire written by Lola Dallimonti and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Malnutrition et r percussions bucco dentaires chez l enfant de moins de cinq ans written by France Hassani and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Les cons quences bucco dentaires de la nutrition du sportif written by Mathilde Mangel and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Etat nutritionnel et sant bucco dentaire chez les personnes g es written by Laura Lasry and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of sweetness and sweeteners has recently been an area well served by books at all levels, but this volume was planned to fill what we perceived as a gap in the coverage. There appeared to be no book which attempted to combine a study of sweetness with a thorough but concise coverage of all aspects of sweeteners. We set out to include all the important classes of sweeteners, including materials which do not yet have regulatory approval, so that clear comparisons could be made between them and their technological advantages and disadvantages. To achieve our first aim, of sufficient depth of coverage, the accounts within this volume are comprehensive enough to satisfy the requirements of a demanding readership, but cannot be exhaustive in a single volume of moderate proportions. The second aim, of breadth and conciseness, is satisfied by careful selection of the most pertinent material. For the purposes of this book, a sweetener is assumed to be any substance whose primary effect is to sweeten a food or beverage to be consumed, thus including both the nutritive and non-nutritive varieties, from the ubiquitous sucrose to the lesser known, newer developments in alternative sweeteners. The volume has its contents structured in a logical manner to enable it to be used in an ordered study of the complete subject area or as a convenient reference source.

Book Dictionary of Abbreviations in Medical Sciences

Download or read book Dictionary of Abbreviations in Medical Sciences written by Rolf Heister and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 451 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Not everyone is a friend of the manifold abbreviations that have by now beCome a part of the scientific language of medicine. In order to avoid misunderstanding these abbreviations, it is wise to refer to a reliable dic tionary, such as this one prepared by Heister. The abbreviation ED means, for instance, effective dose to the pharmacologist. However, it might also stand for emetic dose. Radiologists use the same abbreviation for erythema dose, and ED could also mean ethyl dichlorarsine. A com mon meaning of ECU is European currency unit, a meaning that might not be very often in scientific medical publications. ECU, however, also means environmental control unit or European Chiropractic Union. Hopefully, those making inventions and discoveries will make use of Heister's dictionary before creating new abbreviations when preparing manuscripts for scientific publications. It is a very worthwhile goal not to use the same abbreviation for several different terms, especially if it is already widely accepted to mean only one of them. It may be impossible, however, to achieve this goal in different scientific disciplines. Therefore, although it is wise for the abbreviations used in a publication to be defined, it is also very helpful for readers and writers to use a dictionary such as this one. The author deserves our warmest thanks since we know that compiling such a comprehensive dictionary is based upon incredibly hard effort.

Book Epidemiology of Injury in Olympic Sports

Download or read book Epidemiology of Injury in Olympic Sports written by Dennis J. Caine and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-09-22 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new volume in the Encyclopaedia of Sports Medicine series, published under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee, provides a state-of-the- art account of the epidemiology of injury across a broad spectrum of Olympic sports. The book uses the public health model in describing the scope of the injury problem, the associated risk factors, and in evaluating the current research on injury prevention strategies described in the literature. Epidemiology of Injury in Olympic Sports comprehensively covers what is known about the distribution and determinants of injury and injury rates in each sport. The editors and contributors have taken an evidence-based approach and adopted a uniform methodology to assess the data available. Each chapter is illustrated with tables which make it easy to examine injury factors between studies within a sport and between sports. With contributions from internationally renowned experts, this is an invaluable reference book for medical doctors, physical therapists and athletic trainers who serve athletes and sports teams, and for sports medicine scientists and healthcare professionals who are interested in the epidemiological study of injury in sports.

Book G Protein Coupled Receptors in Drug Discovery

Download or read book G Protein Coupled Receptors in Drug Discovery written by Wayne R. Leifert and published by Humana Press. This book was released on 2009-06-09 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and associated peripheral G proteins underpin a multitude of physiological processes. The GPCRs represent one of the largest superfamilies in the human genome and are a significant target for bioactive and drug discovery programs. It is estimated that greater than 50% of all drugs, including those in development, currently target GPCRs. Many of the characterized GPCRs have known ligands; however, approximately 20% of GPCRs are described as orphan GPCRs, apparent GPCRs that share the generic high-level structure charact- istic of GPCRs but whose endogenous ligand is not known. Therefore, it is expected that the field of GPCR drug discovery and development will greatly expand in the coming years with emphasis on new generations of drugs against GPCRs with unique therapeuticuseswhichmayincludedrugssuchasallostericregulators, inverseagonists, and identification of orphan GPCR ligands. AswelearnmoreaboutthemolecularsignalingcascadesfollowingGPCRactivation, we acquire a better appreciation of the complexity of cell signaling and as a result, also acquire a vast array ofnew molecularmethods toinvestigate these andother processes. Thegeneralaimofthisbookistoprovideresearcherswitharangeofprotocolsthatmay be useful in their GPCR drug discovery programs. It is also the basis for the devel- ment of future assays in this field. Therefore, the range of topics covered and the appropriate methodological approaches in GPCR drug discovery are reflected in this book. As such, this book will likely be of interest to scientists involved in such fields as molecular biology, pharmacology, biochemistry, cellular signaling, and bio-nanotechnology.
