Il convient alors d'identifier les postures à risque et d'évaluer la prévalence de ces troubles chez les étudiants. Cela permet de mettre en place une prévention primaire afin de corriger cela et d'adopter les positions de travail adéquates dès le début de la formation et avant l'apparition de symptômes. Les étudiants, soucieux de la qualité de leur travail, en oublient totalement leur confort et les conséquences musculo-squelettiques se font ressentir avant même d'avoir commencé l'exercice professionnel de l'art dentaire en bouche.

Ces éléments sont d'autant plus importants si le chirurgien-dentiste est une femme et avance dans l'âge.
