En effet d'un coté les pouvoirs publics tendent à diminuer les dépenses de soins, et d'autre part les patients souhaitent accroitre leur niveau de connaissance afin de rester en bonne santé le plus longtemps possible. Cela est possible grâce à des stratégies de prévention efficaces, d'où l'importance d'utiliser des moyens de communication variés afin de transmettre les informations à la population et à nos patients. Le but de ce travail est de faire le point sur les différents moyens de communication à notre disposition ainsi que le cadre légal de l'information des patients. A donc été réalisé un inventaire des moyens de communication à notre disposition, évalué le cadre légal mettant en exergue la limite entre éducation des patients et publicité. Il est important d'évaluer les attentes des patients en matière d'éducation à la santé, pour cela une étude prospective a été mise en place. Cette dernière se propose de quantifier la satisfaction des sondés par rapport aux informations reçues sur la santé bucco-dentaire et les traitements possibles, mais aussi de choisir les thèmes sur lesquels ils souhaitent être informés, ainsi que les moyens de communication par lesquels ils préfèrent recevoir ces informations. Il est donc du devoir des autorités compétentes de réaliser des campagnes de prévention de masse, mais chaque praticien à un rôle à jouer dans l'information des patients, et une bonne maîtrise de la communication est inhérente à cet objectif.

In fine, l'objectif est de parvenir à diminuer le nombre de patients vivants une mauvaise expérience chez le dentiste, et par conséquent, diminuer le nombre de personnes souffrant d'anxiété ou de phobie dentaire.

Book excerpt: La langue des signes française est une langue à part entière qui a émergée au cours du XXème siècle. La culture sourde représente une histoire riche et peu connue du grand public. En 2008, 283 000 personnes utilisaient la langue des signes comme moyen de communication. De part leur histoire, les sourds sont souvent analphabètes (surtout pour les anciennes générations), il est donc difficile de communiquer sans interprète même par écrit. Un défaut de communication entre le praticien et le patient peut s'avérer délétère dans la prise en charge thérapeutique de ce dit patient mais aussi lors de la délivrance d'une information claire et éclairée. Certaines structures mettent à disposition des interprètes (comme le Maillon Blanc à Strasbourg) mais ne sont pas toujours disponibles pour chaque patient (vacances scolaires, après 18 heures...). Après avoir présenté les enjeux de la culture sourde chez nos patients, nous développerons un outil de communication (vidéo) adapté à la prise en charge en odontologie. Cet outil permettra par la suite d'être diffusé aux praticiens dans le but de faciliter leur exercice.

Mais il est difficile de garder une vision claire de toutes ces données, et ce d'autant plus que la quantité de savoir augmente avec le temps et l'approfondissement de ces données. Un des problèmes majeurs de l'enseignement est, en effet, de faire face à l'accroissement des données scientifiques et médicales et continuer à transmettre un enseignement de qualité en dépit de volumes horaires sensiblement identiques. Une des clés nous paraît être de permettre à l'étudiant de mieux structurer ses connaissances. Nous avons donc voulu proposer un projet qui puisse permettre à la fois de hiérarchiser les informations, de les " ranger ", tout en proposant d'accéder au détail, une fois la trame acquise. Ce projet est de rendre accessible un espace d'accueil dédié à notre discipline à l'aide d'un navigateur web, cet espace renfermant une quantité importante d'informations nécessaires à la formation d'un étudiant ou d'un praticien en chirurgie dentaire. Cet outil multimédia permettra grâce aux liens hypertextes de naviguer entre les différentes composantes et les différents niveaux de compréhension, et d'y intégrer des supports différents, images, animations, films, documents audio...

Si aujourd'hui, les moyens matériels sont à la portée d'un plus grand nombre, ce sont les moyens humains qui seront déterminants dans la conception d'un vidéogramme, cela nécessite de : connaître les codes qui réagissent la communication audiovisuelle; élaborer un scénario précis ; avoir la connaissance du matériel utilisé ; et surtout déléguer un poste exclusivemment au service de la vidéo ou faire appel à un prestataire. "Pour être efficace, il faut que la formation soit attrayante." La vidéo peut être utilisé sous diverses formes, passant d'un simple attrait supplémentaire, à une reforme complète de la manière d'enseigner.

In order to avoid misunderstanding these abbreviations, it is wise to refer to a reliable dic tionary, such as this one prepared by Heister. The abbreviation ED means, for instance, effective dose to the pharmacologist. However, it might also stand for emetic dose. Radiologists use the same abbreviation for erythema dose, and ED could also mean ethyl dichlorarsine. A com mon meaning of ECU is European currency unit, a meaning that might not be very often in scientific medical publications. ECU, however, also means environmental control unit or European Chiropractic Union. Hopefully, those making inventions and discoveries will make use of Heister's dictionary before creating new abbreviations when preparing manuscripts for scientific publications. It is a very worthwhile goal not to use the same abbreviation for several different terms, especially if it is already widely accepted to mean only one of them. It may be impossible, however, to achieve this goal in different scientific disciplines. Therefore, although it is wise for the abbreviations used in a publication to be defined, it is also very helpful for readers and writers to use a dictionary such as this one. The author deserves our warmest thanks since we know that compiling such a comprehensive dictionary is based upon incredibly hard effort.
