Das Streben nach einer wenigstens annäherndcn Gleichartigkeit der Behandlung veranlasste mich, auch die kritischen und specula tiven Abschnitte in längeren oder kürzeren Noten wenigstens insoweit auszuführen, um ein auch abgesehen von dem erläutern den Vortrags verständliches und in sich zusammenhängendes Ganzes herzustellen. So ist mir dieses Buch unter den Händen entstanden. Nach langjährigen Vorarbeiten ein Werk aus Einem Guss. Ist es auch zunächst fiir meine Zuhörer bestimmt, so hoffe ich doch damit auch die theologische Wissenschaft an meinem Theile zu fördern und den längst und oft geausserten Wünschen zahlreicher Schuler von ehcdem endlich zu entsprechen.
