For more than 150 years, Leesburg, the "Lakefront City," has been home to many legendary figures; among the most notable are western sharpshooter Annie Oakley, entrepreneur Edward Mote, writer and illustrator David Newell, newspaper columnists Norma Hendricks and Elizabeth Geiger, educator John Morgan Dabney, and agriculturalists Arthur and Florence May Bourlay.
