Book LED Airfield Lighting System Operation and Maintenance

Download or read book LED Airfield Lighting System Operation and Maintenance written by John E. Burns and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report provides guidance for operating and maintaining light-emitting diode (LED) airfield ground lighting systems, including taxi guidance signs, elevated light fixtures, and in-pavement light fixtures. The research team prepared its guidance based on a literature review, an extensive survey of nearly 50 airports, and case studies of 12 airports. The guidebook begins with an overview of regulatory requirements as they relate to LED airfield lighting and a summary of the survey and case studies. The report then provides guidance on maintenance, including acceptance testing and warranty, fixture obsolescence and spare part recommendations, preventive maintenance and refurbishment/repair, maintenance practices during pavement repair, and environmental factors (e.g., vibration and moisture). The guidebook also covers operational considerations, including circuit configuration, heaters, monitoring, photometric and chromaticity analysis, and return-on-investment. The guidebook is supplemented by sample system requirements and maintenance schedules. The guidebook will be of particular interest to airport operations and maintenance (O&M) practitioners seeking to maximize the potential O&M benefits that LED lighting offers as they integrate and/or replace older airfield lighting with this new technology.

Book A Constructivist Grounded Theory Study of Airfield Lighting Maintenance Management Strategy

Download or read book A Constructivist Grounded Theory Study of Airfield Lighting Maintenance Management Strategy written by David A. Burgess and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Asset management programs can keep senior airport managers informed of the performance and life-cycle costs of assets critical to airport operations. With this information, managers can adjust operations and maintenance to minimize costs without sacrificing service quality. However, program implementation is costly and time-consuming. In addition to management and information technology changes, the individual maintenance shops must also develop and incorporate new data collection processes into their everyday workflow. Knowledgeable and experienced maintenance managers must evaluate the data, consider alternatives, and find strategies to reduce costs without negative impact. Unfortunately, such managers are rare for highly specialized assets like airfield lighting systems and often gain most of their experience working at one airport.

Book Practical Airport Operations Safety and Emergency Management

Download or read book Practical Airport Operations Safety and Emergency Management written by Jeffrey Price and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2016-02-09 with total page 631 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Practical Airport Operations, Safety, and Emergency Management: Protocols for Today and the Future focuses on the airport itself, not the aircraft, manufacturers, designers, or even the pilots. The book explores the safety of what's been called 'the most expensive piece of pavement in any city'— the facility that operates, maintains, and ensures the safety of millions of air passengers every year. The book is organized into three helpful sections, each focusing on one of the sectors described in the title. Section One: Airport Safety, explores the airport environment, then delves into safety management systems. Section Two: Airport Operations, continues the conversation on safety management systems before outlining airside and landside operations in depth, while Section Three: Airport Emergency Management, is a careful, detailed exploration of the topic, ending with a chapter on the operational challenges airport operations managers can expect to face in the future. Written by trusted experts in the field, users will find this book to be a vital resource that provides airport operations managers and students with the information, protocols, and strategies they need to meet the unique challenges associated with running an airport. - Addresses the four areas of airport management: safety, operations, emergency management, and future challenges together in one book - Written by leading professionals in the field with extensive training, teaching, and practical experience in airport operations - Includes section on future challenges, including spaceport, unmanned aerial vehicles, and integrated incident command - Ancillary materials for readers to reinforce concepts and instructors teaching operations courses - Focuses on the topics of safety, operations, emergency management, and what personnel and students studying the topic can expect to face in the future

Book Command Of The Air

    Book Details:
  • Author : General Giulio Douhet
  • Publisher : Pickle Partners Publishing
  • Release : 2014-08-15
  • ISBN : 1782898522
  • Pages : 620 pages

Download or read book Command Of The Air written by General Giulio Douhet and published by Pickle Partners Publishing. This book was released on 2014-08-15 with total page 620 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the pantheon of air power spokesmen, Giulio Douhet holds center stage. His writings, more often cited than perhaps actually read, appear as excerpts and aphorisms in the writings of numerous other air power spokesmen, advocates-and critics. Though a highly controversial figure, the very controversy that surrounds him offers to us a testimonial of the value and depth of his work, and the need for airmen today to become familiar with his thought. The progressive development of air power to the point where, today, it is more correct to refer to aerospace power has not outdated the notions of Douhet in the slightest In fact, in many ways, the kinds of technological capabilities that we enjoy as a global air power provider attest to the breadth of his vision. Douhet, together with Hugh “Boom” Trenchard of Great Britain and William “Billy” Mitchell of the United States, is justly recognized as one of the three great spokesmen of the early air power era. This reprint is offered in the spirit of continuing the dialogue that Douhet himself so perceptively began with the first edition of this book, published in 1921. Readers may well find much that they disagree with in this book, but also much that is of enduring value. The vital necessity of Douhet’s central vision-that command of the air is all important in modern warfare-has been proven throughout the history of wars in this century, from the fighting over the Somme to the air war over Kuwait and Iraq.
