This book was released on 2009-06-13 with total page 667 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of mean periodic functions is a subject which goes back to works of Littlewood, Delsarte, John and that has undergone a vigorous development in recent years. There has been much progress in a number of problems concerning local - pects of spectral analysis and spectral synthesis on homogeneous spaces. The study oftheseproblemsturnsouttobecloselyrelatedtoavarietyofquestionsinharmonic analysis, complex analysis, partial differential equations, integral geometry, appr- imation theory, and other branches of contemporary mathematics. The present book describes recent advances in this direction of research. Symmetric spaces and the Heisenberg group are an active ?eld of investigation at 2 the moment. The simplest examples of symmetric spaces, the classical 2-sphere S 2 and the hyperbolic plane H , play familiar roles in many areas in mathematics. The n Heisenberg groupH is a principal model for nilpotent groups, and results obtained n forH may suggest results that hold more generally for this important class of Lie groups. The purpose of this book is to develop harmonic analysis of mean periodic functions on the above spaces.

Book excerpt: A companion volume to the text "Complex Variables: An Introduction" by the same authors, this book further develops the theory, continuing to emphasize the role that the Cauchy-Riemann equation plays in modern complex analysis. Topics considered include: Boundary values of holomorphic functions in the sense of distributions; interpolation problems and ideal theory in algebras of entire functions with growth conditions; exponential polynomials; the G transform and the unifying role it plays in complex analysis and transcendental number theory; summation methods; and the theorem of L. Schwarz concerning the solutions of a homogeneous convolution equation on the real line and its applications in harmonic function theory.
Download or read book An Introduction to Classical Complex Analysis written by R.B. Burckel and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 572 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an attempt to cover some of the salient features of classical, one variable complex function theory. The approach is analytic, as opposed to geometric, but the methods of all three of the principal schools (those of Cauchy, Riemann and Weierstrass) are developed and exploited. The book goes deeply into several topics (e.g. convergence theory and plane topology), more than is customary in introductory texts, and extensive chapter notes give the sources of the results, trace lines of subsequent development, make connections with other topics, and offer suggestions for further reading. These are keyed to a bibliography of over 1,300 books and papers, for each of which volume and page numbers of a review in one of the major reviewing journals is cited. These notes and bibliography should be of considerable value to the expert as well as to the novice. For the latter there are many references to such thoroughly accessible journals as the American Mathematical Monthly and L'Enseignement Mathématique. Moreover, the actual prerequisites for reading the book are quite modest; for example, the exposition assumes no prior knowledge of manifold theory, and continuity of the Riemann map on the boundary is treated without measure theory.

Download or read book Microlocal Analysis and Complex Fourier Analysis written by Keiko Fujita and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2002 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a collection of original papers on microlocal analysis, Fourier analysis in the complex domain, generalized functions and related topics. Most of the papers originate from the talks given at the conference OC Prospects of Generalized FunctionsOCO (in November, 2001 at RIMS, Kyoto). Reflecting the fact that the papers, except M Morimoto''s one, are dedicated to Mitsuo Morimoto, the subjects considered in this book are interdisciplinary, just as Morimoto''s works are. The historical backgrounds of the subjects are also discussed in depth in some contributions. Thus, this book should be valuable not only to the specialists in the fields, but also to those who are interested in the history of modern mathematics such as distributions and hyperfunctions."

This book was released on 2013-12-01 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume consists of papers presented in the special sessions on "Complex and Numerical Analysis", "Value Distribution Theory and Complex Domains", and "Use of Symbolic Computation in Mathematics Education" of the ISAAC'97 Congress held at the University of Delaware, during June 2-7, 1997. The ISAAC Congress coincided with a U.S.-Japan Seminar also held at the University of Delaware. The latter was supported by the National Science Foundation through Grant INT-9603029 and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science through Grant MTCS-134. It was natural that the participants of both meetings should interact and consequently several persons attending the Congress also presented papers in the Seminar. The success of the ISAAC Congress and the U.S.-Japan Seminar has led to the ISAAC'99 Congress being held in Fukuoka, Japan during August 1999. Many of the same participants will return to this Seminar. Indeed, it appears that the spirit of the U.S.-Japan Seminar will be continued every second year as part of the ISAAC Congresses. We decided to include with the papers presented in the ISAAC Congress and the U.S.-Japan Seminar several very good papers by colleagues from the former Soviet Union. These participants in the ISAAC Congress attended at their own expense.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A very primitive form of this monograph has existed for about two and a half years in the form of handwritten notes of a course that Alain Y ger gave at the University of Maryland. The objective, all along, has been to present a coherent picture of the almost mysterious role that analytic methods and, in particular, multidimensional residues, have recently played in obtaining effective estimates for problems in commutative algebra [71;5]* Our original interest in the subject rested on the fact that the study of many questions in harmonic analysis, like finding all distribution solutions (or finding out whether there are any) to a system of linear partial differential equa tions with constant coefficients (or, more generally, convolution equations) in ]R. n, can be translated into interpolation problems in spaces of entire functions with growth conditions. This idea, which one can trace back to Euler, is the basis of Ehrenpreis's Fundamental Principle for partial differential equations [37;5], [56;5], and has been explicitly stated, for convolution equations, in the work of Berenstein and Taylor [9;5] (we refer to the survey [8;5] for complete references. ) One important point in [9;5] was the use of the Jacobi interpo lation formula, but otherwise, the representation of solutions obtained in that paper were not explicit because of the use of a-methods to prove interpolation results.
Download or read book Classical Analysis in the Complex Plane written by Robert B. Burckel and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-10-11 with total page 1123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This authoritative text presents the classical theory of functions of a single complex variable in complete mathematical and historical detail. Requiring only minimal, undergraduate-level prerequisites, it covers the fundamental areas of the subject with depth, precision, and rigor. Standard and novel proofs are explored in unusual detail, and exercises – many with helpful hints – provide ample opportunities for practice and a deeper understanding of the material. In addition to the mathematical theory, the author also explores how key ideas in complex analysis have evolved over many centuries, allowing readers to acquire an extensive view of the subject’s development. Historical notes are incorporated throughout, and a bibliography containing more than 2,000 entries provides an exhaustive list of both important and overlooked works. Classical Analysis in the Complex Plane will be a definitive reference for both graduate students and experienced mathematicians alike, as well as an exemplary resource for anyone doing scholarly work in complex analysis. The author’s expansive knowledge of and passion for the material is evident on every page, as is his desire to impart a lasting appreciation for the subject. “I can honestly say that Robert Burckel’s book has profoundly influenced my view of the subject of complex analysis. It has given me a sense of the historical flow of ideas, and has acquainted me with byways and ancillary results that I never would have encountered in the ordinary course of my work. The care exercised in each of his proofs is a model of clarity in mathematical writing...Anyone in the field should have this book on [their bookshelves] as a resource and an inspiration.”- From the Foreword by Steven G. Krantz

Download or read book Integral Geometry and Convolution Equations written by V.V. Volchkov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Integral geometry deals with the problem of determining functions by their integrals over given families of sets. These integrals de?ne the corresponding integraltransformandoneofthemainquestionsinintegralgeometryaskswhen this transform is injective. On the other hand, when we work with complex measures or forms, operators appear whose kernels are non-trivial but which describe important classes of functions. Most of the questions arising here relate, in one way or another, to the convolution equations. Some of the well known publications in this ?eld include the works by J. Radon, F. John, J. Delsarte, L. Zalcman, C. A. Berenstein, M. L. Agranovsky and recent monographs by L. H ̈ ormander and S. Helgason. Until recently research in this area was carried out mostly using the technique of the Fourier transform and corresponding methods of complex analysis. In recent years the present author has worked out an essentially di?erent methodology based on the description of various function spaces in terms of - pansions in special functions, which has enabled him to establish best possible results in several well known problems.
