Book Leaping Off

Download or read book Leaping Off written by G Alan Dugard Colonel USAF and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2020-06-26 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Leaping Off” is a story about the rigors of becoming an Air Force pilot in a time when the need for pilots was at a low point, immediately following the Korean War. It entails the miniscule items used to wash out prospective pilots through physical and mental demands prior to being found qualified to enter pilot training. Once in the pipeline the fledgling fliers are now subjected to hours of flight time in various aircraft with instructors told to have little patience for infractions during flight. “Anyone can learn how to fly, but time does not allow all to fly”. The progression of skills demanded is an obstacle for many, the attitudes of instructors pays a toll and the ability of the students to conform to standards will determine who attains “Silver Wings”

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Would you care for a joyful surprise? These surprises are packaged in four themes and each theme has a selection of haiku, longer poems and a play. The themes are Life & Death, Far Out, Red Roses and Time & place. Who is the writer? Is there a photo? No. Can you find out more on social media? Probably not. All you need to know is that: sometimes I am a teenager and sometimes an octogenarian at a funeral who thinks hecould well be next in that coffin. Sometimes I am young, foolish and crazy about my new love and sometimes I am glad I have had the same partner for thirty plus years. Sometimes I am a responsible professional earning a living and sometimes a dreamer. Sometimes I am comfortably stuck in Australian suburbia and sometimes coping with life in a foreign country. That experience has been essential to my writing. I am a haphazard writer. When something “falls from the sky’, I let it bounce around in my head until it takes shape: perhaps as a three line haiku, perhaps as a longer poem or even a play. Then I grab a pen and paper and write it down rapidly. So rapidly that my hand struggles to keep pace with my head. Spontaneity and originality are linked. For me, creative writing is a series of joyful surprises. Sometimes they are more a revelation than a surprise. I would like to share these surprises with you.

Book excerpt: More than three million women left the workforce during the COVID-19 pandemic, and even more are considering leaving or downshifting. Corporate women feel misled. Told they could “have it all,” women instead feel dissatisfied and exasperated. They have not lost ambition or dreams for their career, but they are reckoning with their corporate reality: environments that are designed for men, the burden of caretaking labor at home, and bias in hiring and promotions. These factors leave many women stuck—feeling unfulfilled but fearful about making the leap to reinvent their careers. If this describes you, then Leap will give you the guidance and confidence you need to pivot toward fulfillment and authenticity. Intrigued by other women who have made major career shifts, career strategist Jessica Galica embarked on a series of interviews and discovered that her story—building a career by doing everything “right” but waking up lost—is not unique. She wrote this book to help other women learn why, when, and how to reinvent their careers. Drawing from the stories of courageous women who took the leap, as well as her own career journey, she examines: • The feelings that lead women to want to pivot to something different • The ways women can embrace new possibilities (including their risks) • The fulfillment that can come from making the leap A compelling blend of narrative, research, and pep talk, this book will empower you to reclaim control of your career trajectory and define success on your own terms.

Book excerpt: A.J. Sutherland knows her own mind. She also knows a champion when she sees him… Everyone thinks A.J. Sutherland is crazy to buy a rogue stallion that no rider or trainer has been able to tame. But if anybody has the hustle to make something out of that hell-raiser, it’s her. She can’t do it alone, however, and goes after the great Devlin McCloud, an equestrian legend with a bad leg- and a worse attitude. Devlin recognizes a fighter when he sees one- and that horse isn’t a wallflower, either. Before he knows it, he’s got a wild stallion in his empty stable and a hot-headed, heavenly-bodied rider sleeping on his couch. But can he get all three of them through the championship in one piece? This passion he’s found with his rider is compromising training- and at this level of competition, any distraction is not just unprofessional, but downright deadly...

The remote Henderson Island sounded idyllic far away from everyone and everything, including modern amenities and electronic devices of any kind the ultimate getaway. But when a mysterious storm strikes, Stan and Jenny ?nd out just how ultimate and permanent their getaway is. Stans Leap explores what happens when strangers from vastly di?erent backgrounds are forced to survive together with no hope of ever seeing friends or family again. Clashes arise between faith and science, older and younger generations, and unfamiliar cultures. I can say without reservation that Stans Leap by Tom Duerig is one of the best adventure, action, ?ction novels that I have ever read. The Book Review/p> Even though this book is reminiscent of the infamous Lord of the Flies, Stans Leap has its own unique voice ... perhaps unique enough to be as memorable as its similar predecessor. It has become one of my all-time favorites and I will read it again and again. Literary R&R I especially enjoyed the ending, which managed to be not only surprising and ironic but highly plausible as well.
