Book ISO 9001 and Lean

Download or read book ISO 9001 and Lean written by Douglas Meyer and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-03-04 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ISO 9000 is a comprehensive set of international standards for quality management and quality assurance. These standards ensure that companies effectively document all aspects of their quality management to show transparency and efficiency within all processes. They are not industry specific and pertain to organizations of any size. Continuous improvement is a key facet of the ISO 9001 standard (the particular standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system), but it does not explain how to implement or maintain this improvement. Lean production methodologies surely provide this crucial and tactical information. Adding Lean production methodologies to quality management systems effectively focuses these improvement activities. In the long run, it will save companies much time and money. This book, written in the novel format, discusses the symbiotic relationship between ISO 9001 and Lean as both can be seamlessly integrated. It shows how Lean provides the process improvements that are required by the ISO 9001 quality management system – Lean is crucial for identifying and removing waste from your processes, which ultimately creates greater customer value. In addition, the book shows the crucial financial benefits of this integration. This novel clearly illustrates that these two systems can function effectively is one understands the complex balance of standardization and change. ISO 9001 is clearly controlled and audited while Lean is often empowering, less meticulously audited, and rarely controlled. While presenting interesting characters and interactions, this fictional story embeds real-life manufacturing speak with a message of the importance of successful synergy between Lean practitioners, production leaders, and quality departments.

Book Implementing Lean ISO 9001 in Public Administration

Download or read book Implementing Lean ISO 9001 in Public Administration written by Petter Ogland and published by . This book was released on 2021-09-26 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is based on a four-year study in a public sector organisation that starts by observing the nature of a "fake quality" culture, and then investigates the organisational methods of misrepresenting Lean ISO 9001 as a possibility for bootstrapping proper Lean ISO 9001. Contrary to common beliefs about how an anti-quality culture can never function as a basis for real Lean and real ISO 9001, the assumption in this book is that even the most dysfunctional organisation must be doing something right, so the quest is to identify seeds of opportunity and use this as a basis for cultivation.

Book Lean Six Sigma for the Public Sector

Download or read book Lean Six Sigma for the Public Sector written by Brandon Cole and published by Quality Press. This book was released on 2010-11-19 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organizations are continuously trying to improve by reducing cost, increasing customer satisfaction, and creating an environment of empowered employees who continuously strive for excellence in each process and product. In much the same way, governments are continuously required to do “more with less,” enhance budget and organizational performance, and identify innovative ways to increase their impact. There are challenges to applying the Lean-Six Sigma (LSS) tools in the public sector. Examples of these challenges include hierarchical environments, a lack of common goals, and the complexity of working in the public sector. The information included as part of this book provides over 30 spotlights highlighting project examples, lessons learned, and tips and tricks for using LSS in the public sector. These spotlights are based on interviews facilitated with a robust sampling of senior operations strategy practitioners. The LSS methodology focuses on eliminating waste (lean) and then reducing variation (Six Sigma) in a process or product that contains no waste. The information covered in this book will allow someone to have an immediate impact in any public sector organization. It describes some of the most powerful continuous process improvement tools that can be used, with limited training required. This is further enhanced by showing direct correlations to the LSS tools and the challenges that will be faced. Because the public sector spans such a diverse range of organizational charters (such as transportation, education, and defense), this book does not focus solely on either manufacturing or services. Rather, it provides a balanced approach to utilizing LSS in all environments.

Book Using ISO 9001 in Healthcare

Download or read book Using ISO 9001 in Healthcare written by James M. Levett and published by Quality Press. This book was released on 2014-05-09 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ISO 9001 offers an orderly, disciplined approach to managing a healthcare organization. When applied conscientiously, an ISO management system will provide a framework for improvement efforts and the discipline to demonstrate outcomes. A lot has changed since the first edition of this book was published in June of 2011. Most notably, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was passed and is being implemented throughout the country. Although the long-term effects of the ACA will not be determined for several years, it is clear that most Americans will be affected in some way and that that the provider and payer communities are undergoing rapid changes. Even amongst all this uncertainty, the challenges faced by provider organizations can be dealt with most effectively by using an ISO 9001 quality management system. Each of the authors in this book has instituted ISO 9001:2008 as a management system: one in a multi-specialty group practice, the other in a global government healthcare system. Their reasons were different, but in both cases, they established a management system that could respond to diverse needs without adding expenses to their organizations.

Book The Role of Sarbanes Oxley and ISO 9001 in Corporate Management

Download or read book The Role of Sarbanes Oxley and ISO 9001 in Corporate Management written by William A. Stimson and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2011-11-08 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the turn of the 21st century, corporate scandals at major companies like Enron, Tyco International, and WorldCom cost investors billions of dollars and shook public confidence in the securities market. In 2002, in direct response to these scandals, Congress passed the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, a sweeping set of new standards for the operation of all U.S. public company boards, management, and public accounting firms. Among its many reforms was the requirement that senior officials take personal responsibility for corporate finances. This book's exploration of the relationship between corporate governance and operations uses the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley law as a guide and the internal controls of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System as the interface medium to unite the strategic and tactical functions of the corporation. In the process, it introduces new concepts of process liability and materiality and stresses management ethics and responsibility, as well as efficient and effective governance.
