Book Leadership Real Estate and Disruptive Technology

Download or read book Leadership Real Estate and Disruptive Technology written by Joseph Aluya D. B. A. and published by . This book was released on 2011-05 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This revised edition explains various archetypes of deft leaderships. Deft leaders were collaborating seamlessly and synergistically with the data analysts (DA), data scientists (DS) and information analysts (IA) in maximizing organizational profit. Examined at the background was the germinal convoluted and obscured meaning of the various leadership styles. Catechized and introduced was the internet of things (IoT) and industrial internet of things (IIoT). Analyzed and presented were the epochs of the real estate trends from the 1800s to the 21st century. Holistically explored was why the United States economic cyclical peaks and troughs have occurred more than ten times since the last black Friday of the 1929. Despite the sophisticated Wall Street's financial experts and wizardry, these cyclical circles would continue particularly in the United States and within the global macro-economics in general. Examples were expounded from the prism of scholastic contra-suppositions in this opus that supported these accessions. Most significantly, innovative leaders used analytics from insights important data extracted from big datasets via TSHs to change, gauge and predict technological pathways or trends. By so doing, these innovators disrupt the existing systems. As a result, the marketplace tectonically shifts globally in their favor. Within this stratum, big data was categorized and introduced. APPLE Corporation's used of important data gleaned from large datasets was narratively presented as a case study. Case studies of AOL Time Warner, Hewlett-Packard, UPS, reasons why Microsoft acquired Nokia and Yahoo Corporation were used to illustrate this phenomenon.

Book Complexity of Leadership Organizations and the Real Estate Industry

Download or read book Complexity of Leadership Organizations and the Real Estate Industry written by D. B. A. Joseph Aluya and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2009-03 with total page 586 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The existing anchored systems and layers of complexities involved in the interpretation of various leadership styles are discussed in this book. Smart power as a component within the systems in leadership styles is explained (Coutu, 2008; Nye, 2008; Nye & Armitage, 2007). Hard and soft powers are part of the smart power conceptualization. Academicians and learners are challenged to have firm gravitas from triggers and cameos emanating from leadership styles that are Disrupting Existing Systems (DES) elements. Leadership theories are disruptively challenged (Bass, 1985, 1996; Burns, 1978, 2006). Germinal and seminar leadership theories are used to conceptualize, interpret and rationalize why disruption of an existing system creates effective or ineffective leadership styles. Other elements in the systems are the value chains, supply chains, front and back offices, functional operable machines, disruptive technologies, manpower, capital or human capital and intellect that lead to optimal production of goods and services (Porter, 1980b, 1985, 1990; Porter & Stern, 2001). Part two dissects, analyzes, synthesizes and possibly amalgamates various organizational systems that were disrupted. Disruptions of the present systems in organizations such as Virgin Airways, Hewlett-Packard, UPS, Nokia, AOL Time Warner and Yahoo are used as case studies to explicate this phenomenon. Part three explains the housing market in California and in the United States. Current economy recession due to housing foreclosures in the United States is discussed. The United States contractions, recessions and recoveries periods are illuminated. Affordable housing in the sub-Saharan African region is also explained. For housing to be affordable and available for the middle-income populations worldwide, disrupting the anchored and entrenched existing policies remain a viable and pivotal option. In chapter 16, Professor Ossian Carraway uses narrative and statistical analysis to explain the phenomenon and concepts by traversing the landscape of disruptive technologies expansively.

Download or read book Lead and Disrupt written by Charles A. O’Reilly III and published by Stanford University Press. This book was released on 2016-03-30 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past few years, a number of well-known firms have failed; think of Blockbuster, Kodak, or RadioShack. When we read about their demise, it often seems inevitable—a natural part of "creative destruction." But closer examination reveals a disturbing truth: Companies large and small are shuttering more quickly than ever. What does it take to buck this trend? The simple answer is: ambidexterity. Firms must remain competitive in their core markets, while also winning in new domains. Innovation guru Clayton M. Christensen has been pessimistic about whether established companies can prevail in the face of disruption, but Charles A. O'Reilly III and Michael L. Tushman know they can! The authors explain how shrewd organizations have used an ambidextrous approach to solve their own innovator's dilemma. They contrast these luminaries with companies which—often trapped by their own successes—have been unable to adapt and grow. Drawing on a vast research program and over a decade of helping companies to innovate, the authors present a set of practices to guide firms as they adopt ambidexterity. Top-down and bottom-up leaders are key to this process—a fact too often overlooked in the heated debate about innovation. But not in this case. Readers will come away with a new understanding of how to improve their existing businesses through efficiency, control, and incremental change, while also seizing new markets where flexibility, autonomy, and experimentation rule the day.

Book Beyond the Building

Download or read book Beyond the Building written by Rob Finlay and published by Greenleaf Book Group. This book was released on 2023-06-06 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leapfrog your competition by discovering the future of real estate. With tens of thousands of commercial real estate firms competing for properties, investors, and tenants, how can your CRE business ever stand a chance at competing? The key, according to seasoned CRE industry professional Rob Finlay, is for your company to become more data-driven and innovative. Your CRE business can't survive using obsolete marketing tactics, much less thrive. The traditional, tried-and-true approaches that worked five decades ago no longer get results. Unfortunately, too few small and midmarket CRE firms are investing in strategies and tactics that will improve their businesses and outcomes. Beyond the Building can help change your CRE business by showing you how to • be the first to identify and recognize patterns in the real estate market, • predict changing commercial real estate market dynamics, • enhance your leadership skills, • see around the corner to overtake your real estate competition. If you’re part of a real estate company that still sees itself as just owning property, it’s time to modernize and reposition your business as a technology company that just happens to invest in real estate. That is where the true future of real estate lies.

Book The Influences of Big Data Analytics

Download or read book The Influences of Big Data Analytics written by Dr. Joseph Aluya, D.B.A. and published by Author House. This book was released on 2014-09-05 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theoretical framework for this book was our ground-up theory of the Scope, Size, Speed, and Skill (4Ss) and Technological Situational Happenstances (TSHs) applied to Big data analytics. With in-depth research, we catechized the effects of the coalesced insights from big data influencing the architectures of incremental and radical business models. We discussed data inflation and the global impact of TSHs. We showed how deft leadership used insights gleaned from big data analytics to make strategic decisions. The big data syndrome led to Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia in our case study. Our study of APPLE Corporation's use of large datasets was explicitly analyzed. Leaderships' failure to incorporate those contextual elements afforded by insights gleaned from big data analytics, concomitant with the associated costs led to acute forms of irrational rationalism, groupthink, and faulty decision making. We explained the statistics used to essentially describe this paradigm shift, such as high dimensionality, incidental endogeneity, noise accumulation, spurious correlation, and computational costs. Significantly, machine learning challenged the status quo by effectively changing the existing technological landscape. To scholarly critics, how would supervised and un-supervised learning algorithms advance the trajectory of perspectives in applied knowledge under the umbrella of big data? Further, political and socio-economics tied to big data was examined. We recommended leaders should have a shared cognition on how to leverage analytics from large datasets for competitive advantages. Most significantly, leaders or managers should be cognizant of the inextricable synergies that seamlessly flow from adroitly implementing a strategy to profit from the speed, size, skill, and scope (i.e. the 4Ss) of the big data environment, conditioned by the leveraging of those transactional situational happenstances generated by increases in market volatility. We concluded the algorithmic processes of leveraging insights from big data have globally resulted in a disruption of current technological pathways.

Book Nanotechnology Solar Wind and Hybrid Alternative Energy

Download or read book Nanotechnology Solar Wind and Hybrid Alternative Energy written by Joseph U. Aluya D. B. A. and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2010 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, the global implications of solar, wind, or hybrid as an alternative energy is critically examined and explained. In Brazil, China, Canada, Cuban, Germany, Nigeria, Swiss, and the United States, leadership styles affect finding alternative sources of energy that will complement fossil fuels, hydro, or nuclear power supply. We explain, contrast, and compare various global leadership perspectives as its affect alternative energy sources. Leadership styles and political considerations become the trajectories in the introduction of innovative disruptive technologies. Seven billion people worldwide have inadequate supply of energy (United Nations, 2010). In developing nations, hydropower supply has resulted in consistent brown outs. In developed nations, the lack of clean nuclear power raises safety concerns. In rural areas in developed nations, fossil fuels, hydropower, and nuclear power have not met the demand for energy supply (Jeter, 2004; Ogden, 1999).The background of solar, wind, and nanotechnologies are congruently explained. Nanotechnology is introduced and elements within the innovative systems are considered disruptive technologies. Nanotechnology as a disruptive technology includes capability of self-replicating machines, robots, and the production of molecular sized computers (Merkle, 2009; Uldrich, 2006). Nanotechnology as a disruptive technology also has the capacity to improve human lives globally.Hypothesis deduced from this study revealed that solar, wind, or hybrid could not replace hydropower or nuclear power, rather should complement the existing energy supply. Solar, wind, or hybrid should however disrupt the existing systems to the point of setting new paradigm; to shifting new frontiers in global mindset and reasoning (Martins, Ruther, Pereira, & Abreu, 2008). Situational leadership style trumps other form of leadership styles in the implementations of alternative energy and while introducing nanotech from proposal to fruition. We conclude this study by explaining factors embedded in the decision-making processes of introducing the benefits of alternative energy globally.

Book Disruptive Fintech

Download or read book Disruptive Fintech written by James Deitch and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2019-12-16 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout history, innovators have disrupted existing financial services norms to change the landscape of the marketplace. Disruptive Fintech briefly traces fractional reserves, the creation of bank currency that traded at a premium to bullion value, central bank regulation, securitization of assets and loans, the current state of digital currency and electronic payments. The author then looks toward the future of fintech and the forces of disruption that will change the landscape of financial life as we know it. Using over 100 interviews with thought leading CEOs, this book develops a methodology to identify financial services that are ripe for innovation and discusses how innovative thinking can be used as a disruptive weapon to attack incumbents and create effective new fintech models. The book discusses How to relate historical innovations and disruptions in financial services to the current landscape How to follow a process to identify the threats facing incumbent processes and businesses, and how innovative thinking can be used as a disruptive weapon to attack incumbents and create effective new fintech models How many fintech innovations will be constructed by re-arranging or re-purposing existing core processes In this insightful book, author James Deitch, CPA CMB, argues that some of today’s high-flying fintech innovators will flourish, but many may perish as the fire of innovation consumes those fintechs that are slow to monetize their promises.

Book A Technology driven Solution to Disrupt the Residential Real Estate Industry of Existing Homes

Download or read book A Technology driven Solution to Disrupt the Residential Real Estate Industry of Existing Homes written by David Sung-Tat Chiu and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past, home buyers and sellers of existing residential homes relied on real estate agents to buy and sell a home. Real estate agents are experts at fulfilling consumers' needs and often gatekeepers of vital information required to buy or sell a home. However, with more information publically available online, consumers are increasingly turning to the internet as their first and primary source of information in their real estate searches. Given that the majority of real estate interests begin online and consumers are continually turning to a more self-service and self-reliant method of home buying and selling, the value proposition between a real estate agent and their client has diminished. Onlookers have been surprised by the seemingly resilient business model that is still in place within the real estate industry. Is it still justified for real estate agents to charge substantial commissions as the value they provide to their clients is arguably reduced by changing consumer behaviors? Several companies have tried to disrupt the industry with limited success. The thesis investigates why current companies have failed by first studying the underlying stakeholder needs and their top priorities under numerous macroeconomic conditions. Then, exogenous factors on the system boundary are researched to provide context and a holistic view of the industry in which a proposed system would exist. Following this, concepts are generated using an intra-industry morphological matrix approach. However, in the concept selection phase, the previous approach reveals significant gaps in unmet primary stakeholder needs using technology. As such, inter-industry morphological matrix techniques are used to refine and improve the solution. Finally, various pricing strategies are studied and an appropriate pricing architecture for the propose system is hypothesized. This thesis proposes a disruptive solution to empower consumers to move the residential real estate industry forward and redistribute value within the real estate ecosystem. The proposed system allows consumers to buy and sell their own homes using a pure technology-based solution developed using a systems approach. Overall, by utilizing a systems approach, all insights discovered would have otherwise been unknown. It is because of the use of relevant frameworks, that strong underlying system architecture could be designed into a solution that fulfills all the needs of the primary beneficial stakeholder using technology.

Book excerpt: Thinkers50 Management Thinker of 2015 Whitney Johnson wants you to consider this simple, yet powerful, idea: disruptive companies and ideas upend markets by doing something truly different--they see a need, an empty space waiting to be filled, and they dare to create something for which a market may not yet exist. As president and cofounder of Rose Park Advisors' Disruptive Innovation Fund with Clayton Christensen, Johnson used the theory of disruptive innovation to invest in publicly traded stocks and private early-stage companies. In Disrupt Yourself, she helps you understand how the frameworks of disruptive innovation can apply to your particular path, whether you are: a self-starter ready to make a disruptive pivot in your business a high-potential individual charting your career trajectory a manager looking to instill innovative thinking amongst your team a leader facing industry changes that make for an uncertain future We are living in an era of accelerating disruption; no one is immune. Johnson makes the compelling case that managing the S-curve waves of learning and mastery is a requisite skill for the future. If you want to be successful in unexpected ways, follow your own disruptive path. Dare to innovate. Do something astonishing. Disrupt yourself.
