RHIP has long been known as Rank Has Its Privileges, but the primary focus for successful leaders is RHIP: Rank Has Its Responsibilities. A commander is responsible for his soldiers in their assigned duties and in their off duty time and activities. Taking care of the soldiers and working through and with the NCOs (Noncommissioned Officers), builds a working relationship that produces better end results. Professionalism, Caring, and Actions start in garrison operations and carry over through field operations as preparation for possible combat. The commanders' actions are reflected in the soldiers under his command. His responsibilities include directed assignments by higher command and all individuals under his command. Utilization of the First Sergeant and Platoon Sergeants gives access to experienced personnel who can advise, but the responsibility rests with the Commander/Leader for all actions.
