Book Preparing Leaders for Deeper Learning

Download or read book Preparing Leaders for Deeper Learning written by Marjorie E. Wechsler and published by Harvard Education Press. This book was released on 2023-10-03 with total page 107 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An astute assessment of the educational leadership skills and leadership development practices that align with deeper learning in K–12 schools. Preparing Leaders for Deeper Learning spotlights educational leaders as key actors in the urgent task of readying students for college, careers, and citizenship in an evolving world. Marjorie Wechsler and Steven Wojcikiewicz argue that, in response to new understandings of learning and development and emerging societal needs, K–12 school leaders must be able to shift institutions toward deeper learning models, in which collaboration, critical thinking, and project-based learning are fundamental concepts. Through detailed case studies, Wechsler and Wojcikiewicz demonstrate how educational leadership development programs can prepare principals to guide their schools, teachers, and students toward deeper learning and equity. They highlight the approaches of five exemplary leadership preparation programs—the University of Illinois at Chicago, Long Beach Unified School District, Arkansas Leadership Academy, National Institute for School Leadership, and the University of California, Berkley—which together serve educational leaders at all career levels, from initial training for candidates through in-service professional development for seasoned school principals. They identify school structures and classroom practices that enable these programs to confer the skill set needed for deeper learning leadership, and they describe the education policy priorities that can support school leaders in acquiring these necessary skills. This book shows that targeted leadership development is a vital component of transforming schools to create deeper learning opportunities for all students.

Book Deeper Learning in Leadership

Download or read book Deeper Learning in Leadership written by Dennis C. Roberts and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2007-08-13 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deeper Learning in Leadership is a resource that is designed to show how leadership potential can be both broadened and deepened in our colleges and universities. Author Dennis Roberts proposes a new approach to learning about leadership development in higher education that recognizes innovative strategies are needed for the increasingly complex issues we face, both in higher education and in the broader landscape beyond the campus. He advocates that fostering deeper leadership will require educators to take a critical look at the organizational models and processes that characterize most contemporary colleges and universities. Roberts includes new models of learning and leadership, and provides summaries of widely used leadership theories as well as theories that are not as well known. He proposes a new perspective of leadership and a process of discovering leadership potential principles that educators can use to deepen students’ experiences.

Book Implementing Deeper Learning and 21st Century Education Reforms

Download or read book Implementing Deeper Learning and 21st Century Education Reforms written by Fernando M. Reimers and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-11-04 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book is a comparative analysis of recent large scale education reforms that broadened curriculum goals to better prepare students for the 21st century. The book examines what governments actually do when they broaden curriculum goals, with attention to the details of implementation. To this end, the book examines system level reforms in six countries at various levels of development. The study includes system level reforms in jurisdictions where students achieve high levels in international assessments of basic literacies, such as Singapore and Ontario, Canada, as well as in nations where students achieve much lower levels, such as Kenya, Mexico, Punjab-Pakistan and Zimbabwe. The chapters examine system-level reforms that focus on strengthening the capacity to teach the basics, as in Ontario and Pakistan, as well as reforms that aim at building the capacity to teach a much broader set of competencies and skills, such as Kenya, Mexico, Singapore and Zimbabwe. The volume includes systems at very different levels of spending per student and reforms at various points in the cycle of policy implementation, some just starting, some struggling to survive a governmental transition, and others that have been in place for an extended period of time. From the comparative study of these reforms, we aim to provide an understanding of how to build the capacity of education systems to teach 21st century skills at scale in diverse settings.

  • Author : Dr. Scott Reynolds
  • Publisher : WestBow Press

Download or read book Journey Deeper written by Dr. Scott Reynolds and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2015-12-07 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a scuba diver and pastor, author Scott Reynolds had heard the same phrase on dives and in church: “I want to go deeper.” Divers always want to push the limits to go a litter deeper, wanting to explore different reefs and wrecks found in the deeper waters. Followers of Christ use the same language and find themselves constantly saying, “I want to go deeper.” In Journey Deeper, Reynolds offers a scriptural answer to the burning question for many seeking more from their relationship with Jesus Christ: how can I go deeper in my faith? It’s a great question, with a very different answer than the one Christians have held on to for generations. Spiritual depth is not found in the academic information we use to understand theological and religious concepts. Spiritual depth is found in character transformation. Every follower of Christ is called daily to be moving into the image of Christ. The Journey Deeper will help you truly understand what spiritual depth looks like.

Book excerpt: This 40-part devotional from Spring Harvest encourages us to dig deeper, and gives practical advice about immersing ourselves in rhythms that refresh us and help us experience more of the power of the Spirit in our daily lives. Each section is focused on a different area of life or spiritual discipline and offers a Bible passage, something to read, and something to think about, to do and to pray. There are contributions from Gavin Calver, Mark Greene, Michele Guinness, Katharine Hill, Krish Kandiah, Virginia Luckett, Cathy Madavan, Medea Peabody, Rob Peabody, Cris Rogers, Dot Tyler, and Ruth Valerio. Scripture encourages us to be like deeply-rooted trees, reaching towards God's living waters for sustenance, strength and fruitfulness. But in a fast-moving world we have become used to living in the shallows, grabbing refreshment when we can, and sprinting on. More than ever we need to find a regular rhythm of drinking the living water that Jesus offers. Our prayer is that with this book, you will discover a new awareness of the Holy Spirit's presence, and renewed fruitfulness in his empowering.
