Book Le r ve et la s ance

Download or read book Le r ve et la s ance written by Bernard Chervet and published by Presses Universitaires de France - PUF. This book was released on 2007 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Reflets R ciproques

Download or read book Reflets R ciproques written by Pamela Marie Hoffer and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2006 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reflets réciproques: A Prismatic Reading of Stéphane Mallarmé and Hélène Cixous evokes the refractory aspect of a prism that bends and deflects light in order to produce a spectrum of twentieth-century thought emanating from the late nineteenth-century French literary avant-garde. Because the works of Mallarmé and Cixous are often described as hermetic and illisible, Jacques Derrida intervenes to play the role of intermediary through his separate writings on these poets. Important questions arise: How does the elliptical writing of Mallarmé relate to the hyperbolic writing of Cixous? What common strategies emerge and how do these strategies address the critical areas of sexual difference and political testimony for each writer?

Download or read book Max Ernst and Alchemy written by M. E. Warlick and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2001-03-15 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surrealist artist Max Ernst defined collage as the "alchemy of the visual image." Students of his work have often dismissed this comment as simply a metaphor for the transformative power of using found images in a new context. Taking a wholly different perspective on Ernst and alchemy, however, M. E. Warlick persuasively demonstrates that the artist had a profound and abiding interest in alchemical philosophy and often used alchemical symbolism in works created throughout his career. A revival of interest in alchemy swept the artistic, psychoanalytic, historical, and scientific circles of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and Warlick sets Ernst's work squarely within this movement. Looking at both his art (many of the works she discusses are reproduced in the book) and his writings, she reveals how thoroughly alchemical philosophy and symbolism pervade his early Dadaist experiments, his foundational work in surrealism, and his many collages and paintings of women and landscapes, whose images exemplify the alchemical fusing of opposites. This pioneering research adds an essential key to understanding the multilayered complexity of Ernst's works, as it affirms his standing as one of Germany's most significant artists of the twentieth century.

Book The Origins of Energy and Environmental Policy in Europe

Download or read book The Origins of Energy and Environmental Policy in Europe written by Thomas C. Hoerber and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the development of a European environmental conscience through successive steps of European integration in energy policy. In the 1960s-70s, the world was slowly beginning to realise that environment degradation was not sustainable. With phenomena such as acid rain, it became clear that pollution did not stop at national boundaries and the European environmental conscience developed in parallel to such growing environmental concerns. The oil crisis in 1973 was a turning point in the integration process for both energy policy and environment policy, and while further integration towards the European energy policy failed; the environmental policies took shape in measures such as energy saving. The Commission incorporated both energy and environmental policies into the EU policy canon and built an institutional framework, responding to the insufficiency of national policy answers and the developing environmental conscience of the European people. This book will be of interest to students and scholars of European Integration, European Union politics and history and environmental politics and policy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For more than twenty-five years, Dr. Bertrand Martin has been teaching meditation for combating stress and achieving overall better quality of life. In his new book, he talks about his techniques and how to use them to achieve mental silence. Todays society suffers from stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, negativity, and much more, leading to unhappiness, diseases, consumption of medicaments and drugs, Dr Martin says. Regular practice of mental silence meditation can prevent and cure many ailments. It also treads the path of full realization of ones potential. Although stress is a normal part of life, too much of it can have debilitating consequences. Dr. Martin, a psychiatrist and Ayurvedic physician, has been teaching meditation to his patients since 1990. This has helped about 95 percent of his patients, who experience mental silence, a feeling he describes as a totally peacefully state of consciousness in which thinking process stops and a deep physical and mental relaxation is experienced. He shares his techniques for achieving mental silence in his eponymous book. It is specially written for people living busy, fast-paced lives who want to meditate efficiently and achieve fast results. The steps shared are practical, measurable, clearly explained, and easy to practice. Dr. Bertrand Piccard, a psychiatrist and explorer, recommends the method. If you have picked up this book, it probably means that the search for pioneering solutions to further improve your quality of life is a matter that excites your curiosity. Not all of us can be discoverers of the universe, but we can go a long way just by exploring our own selves. Our mind is the richest, most valuable, and most efficient resource that is permanently available to each of us. Dr. Martin is proposing a conscious and serene method to shape up our mental, spiritual, and physical capacities. The method is simple, fast, and effective. Let yourself go, and you may land way beyond your usual certainties.
