Download or read book Understanding End Times Prophecy written by Paul Benware and published by Moody Publishers. This book was released on 2006-05-01 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many Christians think of end times prophecy as a gigantic, intimidating puzzle -- difficult to piece together and impossible to figure out. But every puzzle can be solved if you approach it the right way. Paul Benware compares prophecy to a picture puzzle. Putting the edge pieces together first builds the 'framework' that makes it easier to fit the other pieces in their place. According to Benware, the framework for eschatology is the biblical covenants. He begins his comprehensive survey by explaining the major covenants. Then he discusses several different interpretations of end times prophecy. Benware digs into the details of the Rapture, the Great Tribulation, the judgements and resurrections, and the millennial kingdom. But he also adds a unique, personal element to the study, answering questions as: -Why study bible prophecy? -What difference does it make if I'm premillenial or amillenial? If what the Bible says about the future puzzles you, Understanding End Times Prophecy will help you put together the pieces and see the big picture.

Download or read book The Final Battle for Earth written by Obinna C. D. Anejionu and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-08-18 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Final Battle for Earth presents events contained in the Book of Revelation (a 2000-year-old prophetic book in the Holy Bible) as a well-orchestrated divine plan to take over the control of the earth from Satan. This final battle to crush Satan and his minions will be accompanied by a series of cataclysmic natural and anthropogenic events (hunger, economic crisis, war, pandemics), and unprecedented natural disasters that may be attributed to climate change. There is a consensus that the earth is facing a dangerous future. The United Nations projects that almost half of humanity is at risk of dying. While the scientific community link this danger to climatic impacts, many Christians believe that the end of age is imminent. Cryptic details of the events surrounding the Second Coming of Christ and end of age carefully hidden in the Revelation, predict a series of catastrophic events that will cause the death of over half of the world’s population. The Final Battle for Earth thoughtfully outlines the end-time events and challenges long-held ideas and theories concerning the end-time—especially those surrounding the fall of Satan, the great the tribulation, the rapture, the first resurrection, the Battle of Armageddon, and what is expected of Christians during the end-time.

Download or read book The Things that Make for Peace written by Jesse P. Nickel and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2021-02-08 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study offers fresh insight into the place of (non)violence within Jesus' ministry, by examining it in the context of the eschatologically-motivated revolutionary violence of Second Temple Judaism. The book first explores the connection between violence and eschatology in key literary and historical sources from Second Temple Judaism. The heart of the study then focuses on demonstrating the thematic centrality of Jesus’ opposition to such “eschatological violence” within the Synoptic presentations of his ministry, arguing that a proper understanding of eschatology and violence together enables appreciation of the full significance of Jesus’ consistent disassociation of revolutionary violence from his words and deeds. The book thus articulates an understanding of Jesus’ nonviolence that is firmly rooted in the historical context of Second Temple Judaism, presenting a challenge to the "seditious Jesus hypothesis"—the claim that the historical Jesus was sympathetic to revolutionary ideals. Jesus’ rejection of violence ought to be understood as an integral component of his eschatological vision, embodying and enacting his understanding of (i) how God’s kingdom would come, and (ii) what would identify those who belonged to it.

Download or read book A New Reading of the Animal Apocalypse of 1 Enoch written by Daniel Olson and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2013-03-15 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A New Reading of the Animal Apocalypse of 1 Enoch is the most comprehensive theological commentary on this important second-century BCE Jewish apocalypse to date, laying out the purpose and methodology of this Enochic allegory and using this as the basis for a new commentary on the whole text, presented here in a fresh translation. Against other interpretations that focus on Israel and its institutions, Daniel Olson argues that the promise of universal blessing in the Abrahamic covenant is presented in the Animal Apocalypse as the governing dynamic in a sacred history that begins and ends with humanity in general. The authentic Jacob/Israel will appear in the end times and be the catalyst of universal salvation
Download or read book Sacra Pagina Revelation written by Wilfrid J. Harrington and published by Liturgical Press. This book was released on 2017-07-14 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More than any other New Testament writing the Book of Revelation demands commentary. Its often-bewildering text is easily open to less than scholarly interpretation. Father Harrington brings his scholarship to the Book of Revelation and conveys its Christian message. He puts the work in its historical and social setting 'a first-century CE province of the Roman Empire 'and explores its social and religious background and its literary character. Through Father Harrington we hear clearly the challenge of John, the prophet, to the Churches of his time 'and to ours 'not to compromise the Gospel message.
Download or read book The Time Is Near written by Ian Foley and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2016-05-31 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Time Is Near, the second and final volume of a paired set, builds upon the foundations laid in the first volume to offer a comprehensive and systematic interpretation and explanation of the final book of the BibleRevelation. The author, Ian Foley, summarizes the findings of the first volume before turning to an exploration of this often misunderstood biblical book. This volume explains how two books of apocalyptic literature, Daniel and Revelation, have similar structures, display similar styles of writing, and offer seamlessly connecting content. The benefit of this comparison comes in recognizing that the ambiguities and confusions of meaning that typically accompany readings of Revelation fade away. The reader then receives a clear view of a complete prophetic picture of Gods plan for his world, stretching from 605 BC to the end of this age and beyond. In its thirty-two parts, The Time Is Near presents concise statements of position that begin with Daniel, dwell on Jesus and Paul, and then focus primarily on Revelation. By offering this overall summary of a clear word of prophecy and by supporting it with immersion in the Bible and reflection on historical events, The Time Is Near invites readers reflection and testing. In a time in which the worldwide church faces great challenges, The Time Is Near speaks clearly of refreshingly new insights that will help Christians to face those challenges and to resolve their uncertainties about the meaning of Revelation for this world and the next.
