Book Simulation and Experiment in Laser Metrology

Download or read book Simulation and Experiment in Laser Metrology written by Zoltan Füzessy and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1996 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings document about 45 contributions to the International Symposium on Laser Applications in Precision Measurement held in Balatonfüred/Hungary during June 3–6, 1996. Special emphasis was given to the Combination of Simulation and Experiment in Laser Metrology. International experts provide a survey over a large variety of their latest achievements and developments in this rapidly advancing field. Over the last years, optical measurement techniques like structured illumination, holographic interferometry and tomography were applied more and more in combination with CAE–tools such as CAD and FEM. This combination has found a world of new applications in scientific and industrial branches interested in highly exact but nondestructive and noncontact measurement of technical components. Each of the four sections contains an overview article given by international leading experts. With that the proceedings should be considered to be a state–of–the–art report combining the areas of mathematical modeling of objects, experimental testing under definite stresses, computer–aided evaluation and measuring of objects.

Book Coordinate Measuring Machines and Systems

Download or read book Coordinate Measuring Machines and Systems written by John A. Bosch and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1995-04-10 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work reviews the basic concepts of co-ordinate metrology. It defines what co-ordinate measuring machines (CMMs) are and details how they can be applied to gain a competitive advantage in a variety of business settings, from small machine shops to global manufacturers. Areas that are critical for the successful application of CMMs - including environmental factors, the measuring of speed and accuracy, traceability, versatility and programming methodology - are considered.;The book is intended for manufacturing, mechanical, quality control, design, industrial, automation, automotive and aerospace engineers and managers, as wel as upper-level undergraduate and graduate students in these disciplines.;College or university bookstores may order five or more copies at a special student price, which is available from Marcel Dekker Inc upon request.

Book Industrial Metrology

Download or read book Industrial Metrology written by Graham T. Smith and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject of this book is surface metrology, in particular two major aspects: surface texture and roundness. It has taken a long time for manufacturing engineers and designers to realise the usefulness of these features in quality of conformance and quality of design. Unfortunately this awareness has come at a time when engineers versed in the use and specification of surfaces are at a premium. Traditionally surface metrology usage has been dictated by engineers who have served long and demanding apprenticeships, usually in parallel with studies leading to technician-level qualifications. Such people understood the processes and the achievable accuracies of machine tools, thereby enabling them to match production capability with design requirements. This synergy, has been made possible by the understanding of adherence to careful metrological procedures and a detailed knowledge of surface measuring instruments and their operation, in addition to wider inspection room techniques. With the demise in the UK of polytechnics and technical colleges, this source of skilled technicians has all but dried up. The shortfall has been made up of semi skilled craftsmen, or inexperienced graduates who cannot be expected to satisfy tradition al or new technology needs. Miniaturisation, for example, has had a pro found effect. Engineering parts are now routinely being made with nanometre surface texture and fiatness. At these molecular and atomic scales, the engineer has to be a physicist.
