Download or read book It Didn t Start with You written by Mark Wolynn and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2016-04-26 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A groundbreaking approach to transforming traumatic legacies passed down in families over generations, by an acclaimed expert in the field Depression. Anxiety. Chronic Pain. Phobias. Obsessive thoughts. The evidence is compelling: the roots of these difficulties may not reside in our immediate life experience or in chemical imbalances in our brains—but in the lives of our parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents. The latest scientific research, now making headlines, supports what many have long intuited—that traumatic experience can be passed down through generations. It Didn’t Start with You builds on the work of leading experts in post-traumatic stress, including Mount Sinai School of Medicine neuroscientist Rachel Yehuda and psychiatrist Bessel van der Kolk, author of The Body Keeps the Score. Even if the person who suffered the original trauma has died, or the story has been forgotten or silenced, memory and feelings can live on. These emotional legacies are often hidden, encoded in everything from gene expression to everyday language, and they play a far greater role in our emotional and physical health than has ever before been understood. As a pioneer in the field of inherited family trauma, Mark Wolynn has worked with individuals and groups on a therapeutic level for over twenty years. It Didn’t Start with You offers a pragmatic and prescriptive guide to his method, the Core Language Approach. Diagnostic self-inventories provide a way to uncover the fears and anxieties conveyed through everyday words, behaviors, and physical symptoms. Techniques for developing a genogram or extended family tree create a map of experiences going back through the generations. And visualization, active imagination, and direct dialogue create pathways to reconnection, integration, and reclaiming life and health. It Didn’t Start With You is a transformative approach to resolving longstanding difficulties that in many cases, traditional therapy, drugs, or other interventions have not had the capacity to touch.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has been written for those who are interested in deepening their understanding of the practice of family constellations. Many might ask whether this practice hasn't already been detailed in Hellinger's own books and videos. This book is a response to many practical questions of therapists and coaches. When I speak about the 'art' and 'craft' of the work, I am using these terms in the old sense. To become a painter, you have to master colours, techniques, perspective, etc. That is the master craft which the art requires. The more finely trained the craftsmanship, the more masterly will be the result of a new expression or theme. Art and depth of expression are not things which can be learned, but craftsmanship is. In addition to the few artists who truly break new ground, we have to also recognise the great number of learned practitioners of the arts. They have mastered their craft to such an extent that there is depth and expression in their work, even though they may not have developed a new, revolutionary style. In my training programme for constellation facilitators, a core of material has emerged which I pass on to those in training as a basic foundation for practising this craft. From the feedback in these groups, I am confident that this is a solid basis for the work with constellations.
Download or read book Make Peace with Your Parents written by Bertold Ulsamer and published by . This book was released on 2020-08-11 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book takes you on an intense personal journey that will lead you deeper into yourself and closer to the connections with your parents. You do not need the involvement of your parents to do this. Yes, father or mother may even have passed away already. The result of the journey: more inner peace, more self-confidence, more strength and more joy of life. And actual encounters with parents become more relaxed and friendly.Would you like to improve your relationship with your parents? Maybe you feel an inner distance, maybe you have withdrawn from them a bit or have completely broken off contact. Perhaps you are also angry or hurt and never want to have anything to do with them again. If this is the case, the first step is important for you: you do not have to forgive your parents in order to come to peace with them. You have a right to your reproaches. But all further steps will help you to find new perspectives. Reconciliation then sometimes falls into your lap as a fruit that has ripened by itself. It is worth it! The relationship with father and mother shapes one's own life and has a deep influence on the success of one's own partnership, on the relationship with one's own children and the satisfaction with one's own life.In my more than 25 years of work on reconciliation between children and parents, 7 steps have emerged which are useful to come to peace with the parents in depth. In addition, I talk about further blockades which come from the family system and which sometimes have to be dissolved. These steps and other important insights are conveyed practically in this book. You will experience the essence of my seminars and will be specifically instructed to take important steps inwardly.

Download or read book Metagenealogy written by Alejandro Jodorowsky and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2014-08-22 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A practical guide to recognizing and overcoming the patterns and influences of the four generations before you • Provides exercises to uncover your family’s psychological heritage, heal negative patterns of behavior and illness in your family tree, and discover your true self • Explains how we are the product of two forces: repetition of familial patterns from the past and creation of new ideas from the Universal Consciousness of the future • Interwoven with examples from Jodorowsky’s own life and his work with the tarot, psychoanalysis, and psychomagic The family tree is not merely vital statistics about your ancestors. It is an embodied sense of self that we inherit from at least four prior generations, constituting both a life-giving treasure and a deadly trap. Each of us is both an heir of our lineage and a necessary variation that brings the family into new territory. Are you doomed to repeat the patterns of your parents and grandparents? Or can you harness your familial and individual talents to create your own destiny? In Metagenealogy, Alejandro Jodorowsky and Marianne Costa show how every individual is the product of two forces: the imitating force, directed by the family group acting from the past, and the creative force, driven by the Universal Consciousness from the future. Interweaving examples from Jodorowsky’s own life and his work with the tarot, psychoanalysis, and psychomagic, the authors provide exercises, visualizations, and meditations to discover your family’s psychological heritage and open yourself to the growth and creativity of Universal Consciousness. They reveal how identifying the patterns, emotional programming, and successes and failures of the four generations that influence you--your siblings, parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and great-grandparents--allows you to see beyond the stable identity formed by family lineage. It frees you to overcome your inherited subconscious patterns of behavior and illness, stop the transmission of these patterns to future generations, and reconnect with your true self and unique creative purpose in life. By understanding your family tree and your place in it, you open your ability to heal the ancient struggle between the repetitive forces of the past and the creative forces of the future.

Whoever repeatedly encounters inner barriers in his or her job that stand in the way and/or prevent satisfaction will immediately benefit from the following book.It shows you new ways - if you feel that you are sabotaging your own professional success - if you are not able to live up to your full potential as a leader - if you are always having difficulties with superiors and authorities- if you are compulsively exhausted at work and constantly under stress (burnout!)- if you are very professionally involved, but feel strangely empty and unfulfilled- if you are threatening to go under in your family business It also gives you an overview of the constellation method, how it can be used in families and also organizations.Realize how early experiences and hidden loyalties bind and inhibit you. Break down barriers of childhood and family history! This book is the fruit of 25 years of seminars on family dynamics using the method of family constellations, which I have held in Germany and all over the world (including China, the USA, Russia, South Africa). You are successful if you only really want to be? But willpower and effort are not everything. Some people make huge efforts, fight hard, but somehow they sabotage themselves.Stop trying even harder. Instead, understand the deeper reasons for failure - and find the way to release your energy and your full potential. Does this also apply if you have separated or renounced your family?Even if you distance yourself geographically or inwardly from the family from which you came, you and your family remain much more influenced by your roots than you realize. There is a deep unconscious loyalty of children to their family. This loyalty influences all important decisions in life and determines much of how they live their lives and how satisfied they are with them.
Download or read book Ethical Wisdom written by Mark Matousek and published by Anchor. This book was released on 2011-05-24 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From a bestselling author—“a riveting, fun, and insightful tour of life’s meaning and purpose, essential reading for anyone drawn to the query, ‘How ought we to live?'” (Daniel Goleman, author of Emotional Intelligence) Contrary to what we’ve been taught in our reason-obsessed culture, argues Matousek, emotions are the bedrock of ethical life; without them, human beings cannot be empathic, moral, or good. But how do we make the judgment call between self-interest and caring for others? What does being good really mean? Which parts of morality are biological, which ethical? When should instinct be trusted and when does it lead us into trouble? How can we know ourselves to be good amidst the hypocrisy, fears, and sabotaging appetites that pervade our two-sided natures? Drawing on the latest scientific research and interviews with social scientists, spiritual leaders, ex-cons, altruists, and philosophers, Matousek examines morality from all angles in this thoroughly entertaining and helpful guide to crossing one’s own murky moral terrain.

Download or read book Women s Writing in Colombia written by Cherilyn Elston and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-12-20 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the Montserrat Ordóñez Prize 2018 This book provides an original and exciting analysis of Colombian women’s writing and its relationship to feminist history from the 1970s to the present. In a period in which questions surrounding women and gender are often sidelined in the academic arena, it argues that feminism has been an important and intrinsic part of contemporary Colombian history. Focusing on understudied literary and non-literary texts written by Colombian women, it traces the particularities of Colombian feminism, showing how it has been closely entwined with left-wing politics and the country’s history of violence. This book therefore rethinks the place of feminism in Latin American history and its relationship to feminisms elsewhere, challenging many of the predominant critical paradigms used to understand Latin American literature and culture.
