Book How to Make Money by Selling Land

Download or read book How to Make Money by Selling Land written by Pat Porter and published by . This book was released on 2021-02-09 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I can help you learn how to have a better chance of finding property, buying it, and doing the things necessary to sell it for profit. Just do what we do.Here's how it started. I was driving to look at a new property a client called me to list in north Louisiana. I was thinking that this 38-acre listing was right in the sweet spot for the size tracts that many people want for rural home sites in our region. I wondered if this tract could be bought at a price where we could improve it and make some money on it just like the......well, just like the last several tracts I had bought over the last year! I had bought, personally and occasionally with a couple of partners, 12 different deals just like this. Well, not identical deals in size and use, but similar in that they were smaller tracts ranging from 12 to 80 acres. I'd never really considered looking at my buying and selling in a context of time and lumping all the deals together into information that I could pass along to others. But this was the idea I just had. Why not talk about how I do it? Why not break down some of the steps I take? Why not explain the things I do to buy and sell a tract for profit? The bite-sized pieces of information could be useful to others who wanted to do the same.I consider myself somewhat of an expert in the rural land brokerage business. I mean, heck...I do own and manage a large regional land brokerage dealing with millions of dollars in listings each year. I do know my way around most types of land tracts. I haven't, however, thought of myself as an expert land investor. Yes, I've been involved in the purchase and sale of thousands of acres - and all made money! - but that's just me doing what I do. An expert? No. Something to teach? Maybe. So, here it is. My steps, thoughts, and actions on how I managed to buy and sell 12 different small tracts in about 18 months...all at a profit. There were two large deals - one over 1000 acres and another at almost 5000 acres - that I was also involved in at the same time. Those deals are different than the 12 I'll use for discussion here. Those deals require a different level of funding and knowledge that may be more than you want to tackle. So, for here, we'll focus on the 12 smaller tracts and see what we can learn. The following chapters are written in a way that they can be plucked out and used as separate pieces of information that can provide a needed piece of guidance along your way. Absorb it all as a whole or pick and choose what you want.

Download or read book Cities for Profit written by Gavin Shatkin and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2017-09-15 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cities for Profit examines the phenomenon of urban real estate megaprojects in Asia—massive, privately built planned urban developments that have captured the imagination of politicians, policymakers, and citizens across the region. These controversial projects, embraced by elites, occasion massive displacement and have extensive social and economic impacts. Gavin Shatkin finds commonalities and similarities in dozens of such projects in Jakarta, Kolkata, and Chongqing. Shatkin is at the vanguard of urban studies in his focus on real estate. Just as cities are increasingly defined and remapped according to the value of the land under their residents’ feet, the lives of city dwellers are shaped and constrained by their ability to keep up with rising costs of urban life. Scholars and policy and planning professionals alike will benefit from Shatkin’s comprehensive research. Cities for Profit contains insights from more than 150 interviews, site visits to projects, and data from government and nongovernmental organization reports and data, urban plans, architectural renderings, annual reports and promotional materials of developers, and newspaper and other media accounts.

Book Property for People Not for Profit

Download or read book Property for People Not for Profit written by Ulrich Duchrow and published by Zed Books Ltd.. This book was released on 2013-07-04 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The issue of private property and the rights it confers remain almost undiscussed in critiques of globalization and free market economics. Yet property lies at the heart of an economic system geared to profit maximization. The authors describe the historically specific and self-consciously explicit manner in which it emerged. They trace this history from earliest historical times and show how, in the hands of Thomas Hobbes and John Locke in particular, the notion of private property took on its absolutist nature and most extreme form - a form which neoliberal economics is now imposing on humanity worldwide through the pressures of globalization. They argue that avoiding the destruction of people‘s ways of living and of Nature requires reshaping our notions of private property. They look at practical ways for social and ecumenical movements to press for alternatives.

Book A Macroeconomic Analysis of Profit

Download or read book A Macroeconomic Analysis of Profit written by Andrea Carrera and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-04-09 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on the observation of economic reality, this book provides for the foundations of a new structure of national payment systems. Specifically, to this end, a rigorous accounting for money transactions, savings, and invested profit is suggested, with a major aim to settle sustainable lending levels. Profit lies at the heart of economic activities. Indeed, companies, from small to large, seek net gains to remunerate shareholders and to increase their assets. Yet, economists are far from sharing a common theory of profit. Using mathematical tools and a discursive approach, this book contributes to the debates in such regard, in the attempt to provide new answers to old economic issues. What is macroeconomic profit? Is there any relationship between wages, lending, and profit? This book is an accesible resource for economists and financial experts as well as global economics students, researchers, academics and historians alike. It will challenge policy-makers and professionals and lead them on a thought-provoking journey through the realm of macroeconomics.
