Book excerpt: This is not a self-help book nor should it be. This book is designed through only biblical accounts to expose, the fallen angel, "Satan". Even though he seems a mystery to humanity, Ezekiel 28:13 demonstrates he was . "created blameless and served a great purpose but was banished from the Garden of God, Eden." Now, he exists with a different purpose from the "original design" which includes: tempting, manipulating, hurting, and destroying human life. Our very outcome of heaven and hell weigh in the balance and it is imperative to know the enemy of our lives. This book will explain and point out only biblical accounts of Satan's existence and purpose.

Book The Gospel of the Fallen Angel

Download or read book The Gospel of the Fallen Angel written by Geraint Ap Iorwerth and published by John Hunt Publishing. This book was released on 2011-09-30 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'From humble beginnings as a private investigator in the Heavenly Court, Satan worked his way up the career ladder to become God's Chief Prosecutor. It wasn't long before he branched off and started his own global enterprise as Prince of The World. 'The Gospel of The Fallen Angel' is Satan's exclusive, honest account of the life and times of his greatest adversary, Jesus of Galilee.' When Jesus walked on earth he gave strict orders not to let anyone know who he was. My minions couldn't help themselves. They kept blurting it out! I had better self control. Until now! After 2000 years, I've finally broken my silence. Not bad going for the archetypal disobedient one! Satan Geraint's The Gospel of The Fallen Angel is a first to tell the story of Jesus from Satan's perspective. He tells the story of the real Jewish Jesus, not the fictitious Christ of the Christian church. A highly original, clever, often funny, alternative view of the Gospels. It has a lot to say about traditional Christianity that is interesting and uncomfortable. Its appeal is its modern message about what it means to be human, whether one is religious or not.

Book Paradise Reconsidered in Gnostic Mythmaking

Download or read book Paradise Reconsidered in Gnostic Mythmaking written by Tuomas Rasimus and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2009-10-31 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a new understanding of Sethianism and the origins of Gnosticism by examining the mythology in and social reality behind a group of texts to which certain leaders of the early church occasionally attached the label ‘Ophite.’ In the unique Ophite mythology, which rewrites the Genesis paradise story and is attested, for example, in Irenaeus’ Adversus haereses 1.30, The Apocryphon of John and On the Origin of the World, the snake’s advice to eat of the tree of knowledge is considered positive, the creator and his angels are turned into demonic beasts and the true Godhead is presented as an androgynous heavenly projection of Adam and Eve. It is argued that Hans-Martin Schenke’s influential model of the ‘Sethian system’ only reveals part of a larger whole to which the Ophite material belongs as an important and organic component.

Download or read book Chorus in the Dark written by Kim Lan Nguyen and published by Sheffield Phoenix Press Limited. This book was released on 2013-10 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chorus in the Dark invites attention to the treaty negotiated by the voices of Lamentations. The issues of God's justice and human rights are at the centre of a forceful discussion embodied in the five poems of Lamentations. Difficult questions are subtly raised: How can God's justice be recognized and honoured in the midst of suffering? How can the human right to protest against mistreatment be respected? How can loss, grief, and shame be overcome? What future is there for the victims? How can these sensitive issues be negotiated without loss? Zion is the first major speaker in Lamentations. Zion projects the voice of a woman crying by the grave. Her pain is intense, her loss is vast, her anger is uncontrollable. Zion is unable to see any future. God is indeed just in destroying her, but her surviving children do not deserve her fate. The other major speaker is the man of Lamentations 3. He too speaks of the pain, grief, anger, and desire for vengeance of a victim bent under the yoke of affliction. Yet, like a Davidic king, he dares to claim covenant promises and hope that darkness will eventually turn to light. Through both harmony and discord, and with a profound ambivalence toward the future, the separate voices of Lamentations resonate in a timbre that transcends the sum of its parts. The five poems, while having unique value individually, are meant to be read together as a living documentation of a moment of suspension, a great turning point in the history of Israel.

Written in the wake of the fall of Jerusalem to the Babylonian Empire, it is comprised of five poems of twenty-two stanzas each, in a manner of tight formal unity unparalleled by any other work in the Scriptures. In this volume, widely respected Old Testament scholar John Goldingay analyzes these and other aspects of Lamentations while keeping a constant eye on the book’s meaning and use as Christian Scripture. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discussion of Hell is hotter than ever. Yet for all the attention the topic has drawn, few are the resources that provide an overview of the major points in dispute without bogging down in detail. The Dark Side of Destiny: Hell Re-examined is an excellent primer, yet goes beyond a mere description of options. Dr. Crofford weighs various views of Hell in the light of Scripture and finds them wanting. In the end, he champions a neglected view of last things that both responds better to the preponderance of biblical evidence and safeguards the character of God as equitable, holy, and loving. With probing discussion questions at the end of short chapters, The Dark Side of Destiny is ideal for Bible studies, Sunday school classes, or small groups.

Reader-friendly commentary complements succinct summaries of each section of the text and will be valuable to scholars, students, and general readers. Rather than attempt a verse-by-verse analysis, these volumes work from larger sense units, highlighting the place of each passage within the overarching biblical story. Commentators focus on the genre of each text—parable, prophetic oracle, legal code, and so on—interpreting within the historical and literary context. The volumes also address major issues within each biblical book—including the range of possible interpretations—and refer readers to the best resources for further discussions.
