Book Inorganic General Medical and Pharmaceutical Chemistry Vol 2 of 2

Download or read book Inorganic General Medical and Pharmaceutical Chemistry Vol 2 of 2 written by Oscar Oldberg and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-02 with total page 670 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Inorganic General, Medical and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Vol. 2 of 2: Theoretical and Practical a d104-Book and Laboratory Manual The laws and conditions which govern chemical reactions and their direction, velocity and relative approach to completion have been treated of in the first volume, including the necessary conditions of success in preparation work so far as they may be indicated by general principles. The materials and methods employed for the production of inorganic pharmaceutical preparations were pointed out in a general way, the subject of oxidation and reduction was fully discussed, and the use of chemical equations and st chiometry explained and exemplified. Part I of the second volume discusses more fully the intelligent choice of methods, materials and apparatus, and the practical manipulations of actual laboratory operations in the production of inorganic preparations, and Part II contains detailed descriptions of the modes of preparation of five hundred inorganic chemicals. These processes should be of practical value to pharmacists and manufacturing chemists as well as to teachers and students. Chemical laboratory work in the schools has in the past been almost exclusively analytical work; but the at least equal value and importance of practical work in the production of chemical compounds is now fully recognized. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Laboratory Manual of Inorganic Chemistry: One Hundred Topics in General, Qualitative, and Quantitative Chemistry Much time will often be saved if a. Model of the app. To be used in making an exp. Is set up for pupils to examine, and a few moments at the first of the hour are taken to explain the arrangement, manipula tion, points of connection, etc., of the app. Samples of quantities of materials may also be put out if desired, as beginners are quite sure to get too large an amount. Pupils should be cautioned repeatedly against using too much time, in a lazy way, in preparing app. And in doing an exp. If the laboratory period is quite short, it may be found desirable to use prepared app. As far as possible. Rubber stoppers instead of cork should almost always be used for this reason. Some teachers also prefer that pupils should write out their exps. Except the briefest jottings outside of the laboratory. To the author this does not seem advisable, while he admits that much more can be accomplished in that way, and much neater and more complete books may result. But if this plan is followed, pupils are apt to rely too much on the text-book and too little on themselves. By writing results at once they get into more accurate and rapid habits of observation. If an exp. Is done but hot written out during the period, the student should complete it very soon thereafter, as he has time. It is not necessary to do all the exps. Or to do them in the order given if you prefer some other order. In several cases (e. Exp. 62) the teacher may prefer to do the exp. In presence of the class, who then take notes instead of doing it themselves. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book A Laboratory Manual of Chemistry for Beginners

Download or read book A Laboratory Manual of Chemistry for Beginners written by Arnold Frederik Holleman and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-25 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Laboratory Manual of Chemistry for Beginners: An Appendix to the Author's Text-Book of Organic Chemistry IT is admitted universally that chemistry cannot be learnt by the study of text-books only, and that laboratory practice is essential. A student new to the science derives most benefit from a laboratory course of inorganic preparations, simple quantitative experiments, and qualitative inorganic analysis. He is brought thus into contact with work closely connected with the text-books and lectures on this division of chemistry, and is enabled to understand the subject much better than by any other method. A student beginning the study of organic chemistry usually has to content himself with text-books and lectures, and very seldom has the opportunity of handling the compounds about which he has to read. There is, evidently, therefore, a lack in the methods of teaching the elements of organic chemistry adopted in the Universities. Book Introduction to Chemical Preparations

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Introduction to Chemical Preparations: A Guide in the Practical Teaching of Inorganic Chemistry In the choice of the preparations, care was taken to present to the student many fundamentally differ ent reactions. The author trusts to have done justice to the economy of the laboratory by starting, as far as possible, with cheap or valueless materials; for example, the residues of all sorts accumulated in every laboratory, or the by-products from other prepara tions. The finished preparations are, on the other hand, for the most part substances which are con tinually used in the laboratory in analytical and syn thetical processes, but which are either not generally found in the market or else not obtainable in a suf ficiently pure state.
