Book Encyclopedia of Applied Electrochemistry

Download or read book Encyclopedia of Applied Electrochemistry written by Gerhard Kreysa and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-04-16 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While electrochemistry deals with the interrelation of electrical and chemical phenomena, applied electrochemistry is the interface between fundamental science and practical applications. It is vitally important for our industrial society of today and even more so for its future. A successful response to global challenges such as securing energy supply, developing energy-efficient and sustainable processes and materials, environmentally friendly technologies, or monitoring physiological processes for health care requires electrochemical research and engineering. The Encyclopedia of Applied Electrochemistry provides an authoritative compilation of entries dealing with all applied aspects of electrochemistry, including basic theoretical concepts, and instrumentation. As a unique, one-stop resource for sound and digested knowledge in this field, the Encyclopedia of Applied Electrochemistry comprises the first applications-oriented interdisciplinary work on the critical technologies underlying key advances such as energy efficiency (e.g. batteries for electric cars, etc.), green and sustainable chemical industries, new materials (corrosion resistant and low-friction), and biomedical sensors.

Book Handbook of Electrochemistry

Download or read book Handbook of Electrochemistry written by Cynthia G. Zoski and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2007-02-07 with total page 935 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electrochemistry plays a key role in a broad range of research and applied areas including the exploration of new inorganic and organic compounds, biochemical and biological systems, corrosion, energy applications involving fuel cells and solar cells, and nanoscale investigations. The Handbook of Electrochemistry serves as a source of electrochemical information, providing details of experimental considerations, representative calculations, and illustrations of the possibilities available in electrochemical experimentation. The book is divided into five parts: Fundamentals, Laboratory Practical, Techniques, Applications, and Data. The first section covers the fundamentals of electrochemistry which are essential for everyone working in the field, presenting an overview of electrochemical conventions, terminology, fundamental equations, and electrochemical cells, experiments, literature, textbooks, and specialized books. Part 2 focuses on the different laboratory aspects of electrochemistry which is followed by a review of the various electrochemical techniques ranging from classical experiments to scanning electrochemical microscopy, electrogenerated chemiluminesence and spectroelectrochemistry. Applications of electrochemistry include electrode kinetic determinations, unique aspects of metal deposition, and electrochemistry in small places and at novel interfaces and these are detailed in Part 4. The remaining three chapters provide useful electrochemical data and information involving electrode potentials, diffusion coefficients, and methods used in measuring liquid junction potentials. * serves as a source of electrochemical information * includes useful electrochemical data and information involving electrode potentials, diffusion coefficients, and methods used in measuring liquid junction potentials * reviews electrochemical techniques (incl. scanning electrochemical microscopy, electrogenerated chemiluminesence and spectroelectrochemistry)

Book Laboratory Exercises in Applied Chemistry Classic Reprint

Download or read book Laboratory Exercises in Applied Chemistry Classic Reprint written by Wilhelm Moldenhauer and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-28 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Laboratory Exercises in Applied Chemistry Technical School. These have been selected in such a way that the student is made familiar with the best and most characteristic examples of technical methods of analysis, and at the same time he obtains a general view of the most important branches of the chemical industry. The contents of this book can be mastered by a diligent and capable student in six months. If, during the progress of the experiments in the laboratory, he makes use of his leisure moments to read through the explanations and remarks attached to the exercises, the purpose for which the book was written have been completely achieved. Book Laboratory Exercises in Applied Chemistry

Download or read book Laboratory Exercises in Applied Chemistry written by Wilhelm Moldenhauer and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-26 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Laboratory Exercises in Applied Chemistry Although technical analysis has long been included in the curricula of technical colleges, a textbook devoted solely to this subject is still lacking. Laboratory manuals and the like generally contain little more than mere descriptions of technical methods of analysis, and explanations of the underlying chemical principles or of their applications are seldom attempted. It is evident that such books can be of very little help to students. The mechanism of the reactions involved in analytical methods is by no means so clear that explanation is unnecessary, since a student usually begins technical analysis at a comparatively early stage in his course. Neither can it be assumed that the student has sufficient knowledge of the practical side of the subject to enable him to grasp the full significance of the analysis in which he is engaged. Only when the analyst understands what part the raw material under examination is destined to play in subsequent industrial operations, how a manufactured product has reached its final condition and for what purpose it is to be used, is he in a position to appreciate the importance of the various determinations, or the consequences that might ensue from a faulty analysis. The author, as lecturer in the Darmstadt Technical School, knows from his long experience that it is just the emphasis laid upon the technical application of an analysis which deepens the student's knowledge and understanding of chemical processes. Interest is stimulated in the analysis itself, which is thus saved from being regarded merely as an unnecessary extension of ordinary quantitative analysis.
