La estructura, contenidos y lenguaje de la obra han sido pues adaptados para el uso por los alumnos de dicha titulación, sin perjuicio de que esta publicación pueda ayudar en general a la comprensión de la materia y sirva de complemento a otras disciplinas relacionadas. La Acción Social en la Empresa es abordada a lo largo de la obra como cuestión abierta, no identificable en sentido estricto con las concepciones tradicionales de la misma manejadas al efecto por la doctrina iuslaboralista. Desde esta perspectiva, es incorporada como elemento nuclear en el tratamiento de los temas objeto de estudio, atendiendo a su carácter eminentemente dinámico (en la medida en que la materia evoluciona al ir dando respuesta a las necesidades acordes con el momento histórico concreto) y al par heterogéneo (por la variedad de acciones que puede englobar). Se intenta así sistematizar este enfoque amplio de la Acción Social en la Empresa desde dos bloques no estancos sino interrelacionados: la participación de los trabajadores en la empresa (capítulos I a VII), y las acciones o beneficios sociales, tanto los tradicionales como sus nuevas expresiones (capítulos VIII a XII).
