Download or read book Humanisme i literatura neollatina written by Jozef IJsewijn and published by Universitat de València. This book was released on 1996 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Venetian English English Venetian

Download or read book Venetian English English Venetian written by Lodovico Pizzati and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2007 with total page 657 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hard not to be florid about this book Devoured in snippets or read straight through. It presents amazing experiences and skills. Because Marc-Charles Nicolas has a brilliantly delicate appreciation for the idea of a sentence in a poem, the juxtapositions of segments in these pages appear essentially to construct entire topics for mediation. Examined along and the dawnings increase and multipy--- inspirations, love, feelings, locations, events hitherto isolated are now all hooks-and-eyes into each other. And because Marc-Charles gets his inspiration from the muse, you feel the exquisiteness and beauty buried in shattered phrases about the "universality of poetry." As a poet he belongs to a life larger than his own. The life of genuine things. And (One more performance worth a word): the poems in his book "Perfumed Paradise" are filled with aboutness'. Put together as they are, they're seen to abound with roots: their laughter or melancholy or ire has discernible reasons. The humanness of poem-writing as a hobby, the splendid unavoidability of it ---that is what this compilation brings together. But floridity was to be kept away. One cloudless day---pace the anti-sentimentalists: life is short I sat in the sun and by a Brook with a friend and passed pages of this manuscript from side to side, reading fragments aloud, laughing quietly or looking grave, occasionally thrilled and bemused. A while back, this was, yet I remember no happier afternoon. The poems were written originally in French 13 years ago in the year 1993, delicious remembrance - fantastic book! Virgo A. Bernice

Book Second Temple Jewish Paideia in Context

Download or read book Second Temple Jewish Paideia in Context written by Jason M. Zurawski and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2017-07-10 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite the impressive strides made in the past century in the understanding of Second Temple Jewish history and the strong scholarly interest in paideia within ancient Greek, Hellenistic, Roman, and late antique Christian cultures, the nature of Jewish paideia during the period has, until recently, received surprisingly little attention. The essays collected here were first offered for discussion at the Fifth Enoch Seminar Nangeroni Meeting, held in Naples, Italy, from June 30 – July 4, 2015, the purpose of which was to gain greater insight into the diversity of views of Jewish education during the period, both in Judea and Diaspora communities, by viewing them in light of their contemporary Greco-Roman backgrounds and Ancient Near Eastern influences. Together, they represent the broad array of approaches and specialties required to comprehend this complex and multi-faceted subject, and they demonstrate the fundamental importance of the topic for a fuller understanding of the period. The volume will be of particular interest to students and scholars of the history and culture of the Jewish people during the Hellenistic and Roman periods, ancient education, and Greek and Roman history.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The creation of the Museum of the Friars Minor Capuchin of the Roman Province is designed to highlight the spirituality of a religious order whose cornerstones are intense mysticism, a simple and sober way of life, constant involvement with people, and a strong but gentle spirit of brotherly love. The eight rooms of the museum set up inside the friary host a series of sections devoted to its origins and history as well as the life of those who joined the order and drew inspiration from the example of extraordinary Capuchin saints like Felix of Cantalice, Crispin of Viterbo and Joseph of Leonessa but also contemporary figures known to the public on a vast scale, such as St Pio of Pietrelcina, who bore the stigmata for fifty years, and Father Mariano of Turin, the first multimedia preacher. The museum is also a new repository for the artistic and historical legacy of the Capuchins of Rome and the region of Lazio, as its rooms are in fact designed not only to house and exhibit the various items but also to ensure their preservation. To this end, the opening of the museum was preceded by major work to restore the original splendour not only of various kinds of artworks, books and documents but also and above all Capuchin liturgical vessels and articles of everyday use epitomizing the spirit of humble self-sufficiency that is the hallmark of the order. Encapsulating the extraordinarily rich experience of nearly 500 years of Capuchin life, this museum is concerned not only with preserving the past but also with projecting itself into the future as a sort of ongoing laboratory of initiatives, a venue for exhibitions, cultural events and spiritual experiences aimed at establishing dialogue and asserting the continuing primacy of the human dimension today.
