Download or read book Cosa deve l Italia a Mussolini written by Associazione Cultura Fascista and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-04-22 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Russia and Italy Against Hitler written by J. Calvit Clarke and published by Praeger. This book was released on 1991-02-28 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Clarke tackles an untouched part of pre World War II historiography: the complex web of ideology, economics, military cooperation, and diplomacy binding Italy and the USSR prior to 1935. While explaining the contradictory cooperation of these two ideologies, Clarke's study takes on greater significance against the larger world canvas. It becomes a valuable avenue to understanding interwar diplomacy and the Soviet Union. Clarke's research comes from the Italian Foreign Ministry Archives (1924-1941). This unique Italian perspective sheds new light on Stalin's Russia and Mussolini's Italy.

Download or read book Italian Fascism and Spanish Falangism in Comparison written by Giorgia Priorelli and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-07-01 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book compares the Italian Fascist and the Spanish Falangist political cultures from the early 1930s to the early 1940s, using the idea of the nation as the focus of the comparison. It argues that the discourse on the nation represented a common denominator between these two manifestations of the fascist phenomenon in Mussolini’s Italy and Franco’s Spain. Exploring the similarities and differences between these two political cultures, this study investigates how Fascist and Falangist ideologues defined and developed their own idea of the nation over time to legitimise their power within their respective countries. It examines to what extent their concept of the nation influenced Italian and Spanish domestic and foreign policies. The book offers a four-level framework for understanding the evolution of the fascist idea of the nation: the ideology of the nation, the imperial projects of Fascism and Falangism, race and the nation, and the place of these cultures in the new Nazi continental order. In doing so, it shows how these ideas of the nation had significant repercussions on fascist political practice.
Download or read book Greeks Romans Germans written by Johann Chapoutot and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2016-09-20 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much has been written about the conditions that made possible Hitler's rise and the Nazi takeover of Germany, but when we tell the story of the National Socialist Party, should we not also speak of Julius Caesar and Pericles? Greeks, Romans, Germans argues that to fully understand the racist, violent end of the Nazi regime, we must examine its appropriation of the heroes and lessons of the ancient world. When Hitler told the assembled masses that they were a people with no past, he meant that they had no past following their humiliation in World War I of which to be proud. The Nazis' constant use of classical antiquity—in official speeches, film, state architecture, the press, and state-sponsored festivities—conferred on them the prestige and heritage of Greece and Rome that the modern German people so desperately needed. At the same time, the lessons of antiquity served as a warning: Greece and Rome fell because they were incapable of protecting the purity of their blood against mixing and infiltration. To regain their rightful place in the world, the Nazis had to make all-out war on Germany's enemies, within and without.

Download or read book La Grande Italia written by Emilio Gentile and published by Univ of Wisconsin Press. This book was released on 2009 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: La Grande Italia traces the history of the myth of the nation in Italy along the curve of its rise and fall throughout the twentieth century. Starting with the festivities for the fiftieth anniversary of the unification of Italy in 1911 and ending with the centennial celebrations of 1961, Emilio Gentile describes a dense sequence of events: from victorious Italian participation in World War I through the rise and triumph of Fascism to Italy's transition to a republic. Gentile's definition of "Italians" encompasses the whole range of political, cultural, and social actors: Liberals and Catholics, Monarchists and Republicans, Fascists and Socialists. La Grande Italia presents a sweeping study of the development of Italian national identity in all its incarnations throughout the twentieth century. This important contribution to the study of modern Italian nationalism and the ambition to achieve a "great Italy" between the unification of Italy and the advent of the Italian Republic will appeal to anyone interested in modern European history, Fascism, and nationalism.
