Dans un souci de réduction de la durée de traitement, de nouveaux concepts ont vu le jour permettant au patient de recevoir une prothèse le jour de la chirurgie. Ces dernières années, la mise en charge immédiate suscite de plus en plus d'intérêt et les études sur ce sujet rapportent des taux de succès comparables à ceux des protocoles classiques, appelant cette technique à développer, à s'améliorer et peut-être à se généraliser.

Cette solution offre une amélioration du confort pour le patient en augmentant la rétention mais aussi la stabilisation. Les nouveaux protocoles de mise en charge immédiate permettent de répondre aujourd'hui, à une demande d'optimisation des délais de la part des praticiens mais aussi des patients.

L'analyse, fondée sur la preuve de ces études cliniques, nous laisse à penser que cette thérapeutique pourrait devenir une "donnée médicale avérée". Cependant, son application par le clinicien nécessite la maîtrise d'un certain nombre de paramètres cliniques et biomécaniques précis afin de garantir son succès.
