Al ser un fenómeno global y totalizador ha conseguido extenderse, filtrarse e imponerse, entre los más diversos ámbitos de las sociedades actuales. La educación es uno de esos ámbitos que la globalización está erosionando con su dinámica economicista. Pero al mismo tiempo esta educación, que podía ser fuente de respuesta frente al fenómeno y ayudar a la transformación del mismo, lo está obviando o no está siendo consciente de la necesidad de tratarlo, repercutiendo en su propia contra y, más importante, aún en el de sus alumnos. En concreto esta investigación se ha centrado en los centros de Educación Secundaria, en sus documentos, en la labor de sus principales cargos y de su profesorado, y en su alumnado, para comprobar cuál es realmente el tratamiento que a nivel educativo, a nivel del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, se le está dando a este fenómeno de globalización.

En donde así se consiga, se dice que es de «calidad». De este modo, la lógica neoliberal perfila no sólo el ámbito económico, sino también el político, el educativo y el cultural.

In doing so, they generated considerable innovation, which reinforced the integration of the research and outreach functions of the university. The evidence suggests that universities are indeed open systems, in interaction with their environment, able to discover changes that can influence them and to change in response to those changes. They are also able, in the success of their efforts to mitigate the educational impact of the pandemic, to create better futures, as the result of the innovations they can generate. This challenges the view of universities as "ivory towers" being isolated from the surrounding environment and detached from local problems. As they reached out to schools, universities not only generated clear and valuable innovations to sustain educational opportunity and to improve it, this process also contributed to transform internal university processes in ways that enhanced their own ability to deliver on the third mission of outreach
