De nos jours et en raison de scandales sanitaires de plus en plus fréquents, la population tend à se détourner de cette alimentation et à consommer des produits plus naturels. Ainsi, la cueillette de plantes sauvages deviendrait de nouveau pratiquée malgré le fait qu'une grande partie de la connaissance de ces plantes se soit perdue. C'est dans ce contexte de regain d'intérêt pour les plantes sauvages comestibles que le rôle du pharmacien entre en jeu. En effet, la cueillette de plantes d'intérêt par la population sans formation appropriée peut amener à des confusions avec des espèces toxiques à risque d'empoisonnement. Le pharmacie n'aurait tout un rôle à jouer dans l'accompagnement de cette pratique renaissante. L'enquête a mis en évidence un réel renouveau de la pratique. En aidant à l'identification de plantes sauvages, le pharmacien d'officine peut accompagner la pratique en apportant son expertise de professionnel de santé de proximité. L'enjeu est maintenant que la profession prenne conscience de ce phénomène et s'attache à l'y intégrer dans sa mission de santé publique.
