La conception du SIME se fait à partir d'un processus centralisé et formalisé qui induit une cohérence formelle dans l'organisation. Mais les représentations individuelles résultant de la diffusion du SIME ne sont pas unanimes, des points de convergence et de divergence sont observables. Le maintien du SIME, l'évolution de ses outils dans chaque société, appuient l'idée qu'une représentation environnementale collective pourrait émerger à partir des interactions entre les niveaux de représentation, formel délibéré de la direction de l'entreprise, et informels locaux.

Faced with the external pressures of globalization and competition, logistics optimizes processes and reduces production and delivery cycles. The use of Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SuSCM) is now increasingly at the center of thought, due to the numerous factors favoring its implementation: requests from various stakeholders, governmental pressures (decrees, laws, regulations, etc.), environmental pressures (pollution, disappearance of fuel fossils, etc.) and societal pressures (reputation/image, protection, etc.).
