Book Volume 8 Tome II Kierkegaard s International Reception Southern Central and Eastern Europe

Download or read book Volume 8 Tome II Kierkegaard s International Reception Southern Central and Eastern Europe written by Jon Stewart and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-12-14 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although Kierkegaard's reception was initially more or less limited to Scandinavia, it has for a long time now been a highly international affair. As his writings were translated into different languages his reputation spread, and he became read more and more by people increasingly distant from his native Denmark. While in Scandinavia, the attack on the Church in the last years of his life became something of a cause célèbre, later, many different aspects of his work became the object of serious scholarly investigation well beyond the original northern borders. As his reputation grew, he was co-opted by a number of different philosophical and religious movements in different contexts throughout the world. The three tomes of this volume attempt to record the history of this reception according to national and linguistic categories. Tome II covers the reception of Kierkegaard in Southern, Central and Eastern Europe. The first set of articles, under the rubric 'Southern Europe', covers Portugal, Spain and Italy. A number of common features were shared in these countries' reception of Kierkegaard, including a Catholic cultural context and a debt to the French reception. The next rubric covers the rather heterogeneous group of countries designated here as 'Central Europe': Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. These countries are loosely bound in a cultural sense by their former affiliation with the Habsburg Empire and in a religious sense by their shared Catholicism. Finally, the Orthodox countries of 'Eastern Europe' are represented with articles on Russia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Montenegro, Macedonia and Romania.

Book The New Avant garde in Italy

Download or read book The New Avant garde in Italy written by John Picchione and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2004-01-01 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The debate on literature and the arts provoked by the Italian neoavant-garde (neoavanguardia) is undoubtedly one of the most animated and controversial the country has witnessed from World War II to the present. Comprising the period between the late 1950s and the late 1960s, the phenomenon of the neoavanguardia involved key writers, critics, and artists, both as insiders - Sanguineti, Balestrini, Guglielmi, Eco, and others - and adversaries such as Pasolini, Calvino, and Moravia. In The New Avant-Garde in Italy - the first book in English to document the movement - John Picchione's objective is twofold: to provide a comprehensive analysis of the theoretical tenets that inform the works of the neoavanguardia and to show how they are applied to the poetic practices of its authors. The neoavanguardia cannot, Picchione argues, be defined as a movement with a unified program expressed in the form of manifestos or shared theoretical principles. It experiences irreconcilable internal conflicts that are explored as a split between two main blocs - one that is tied to the project of modernity, the other to post-modern aesthetic postures. This study suggests that some of the contentious views proposed by the neoavanguardia anticipated a wide range of issues that continue to be significant and pressing to this day.

Discussion notes, reviews, etc., are catalogued according to the items they refer to. The bibliography contains more than 5,600 primary entries and is a testament to the expanding worldwide interest in the Danish philosopher. It also remedies the deeply-felt need for a collected overview of the extensive literature on Kierkegaard.

Book Writing Art

    Book Details:
  • Author : Jeremy Fernando
  • Publisher : punctum books
  • Release : 2015-11-25
  • ISBN : 9491914057
  • Pages : 126 pages

Download or read book Writing Art written by Jeremy Fernando and published by punctum books. This book was released on 2015-11-25 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Writing Art is an attempt to respond to the possibilities of art, the potentialities in art, to the possible event that art is. Keeping in mind that events are always already potentially beyond us, are quite possibly unknown, unknowable. In this book, Jeremy Fernando meditates on art through a response to specifics works, to the specificity of the craft, tekhnē, of each work; offering a reading of specific works of photography (Photovoice sg), poetry (Tammy Ho Lai-Ming), installation art (Charles Lim), film (Tan Chui Mui), conceptual art (ZXEROKOOL), and charcoal drawings (Yanyun Chen). Through writing. For, to write is always also to scribble, to scratch, tear, quite possibly open - and perhaps more importantly, to open the possibility of a relation with another, to the unknowability that is the other. At the risk that this writing causes one to writhe, to be torn, to cry out; even if the very one is himself. Or, as Alessandro De Francesco, in his introduction, says: " ...

Download or read book L Arte della memoria written by Marco Eggenter and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-06-25 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book From zero to hero

    Book Details:
  • Author : Wanda Montanelli
  • Publisher : Tektime
  • Release : 2023-12-13
  • ISBN : 8835459591
  • Pages : 182 pages

Download or read book From zero to hero written by Wanda Montanelli and published by Tektime. This book was released on 2023-12-13 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In daily encounters on TV, press editorials and news reports, the only reason seeming to compel insiders is their circulation or audience. Everyone else turns a blind eye to it. Nobody cares about knowing that the higher the audience, the more links to Twitter there’ll be or that the more likes on Facebook there’ll be, the seeds of gratuitous violence are more effectively sown. This is called emulation or, in the psychopathology of communication, the “Werther effect”. Our society is full of frustrated individuals who ascribe their own failings to the world around them and it may be the case that some marginalised people regard themselves as being rather low on the social scale and therefore choose to give themselves hero status, worthy of the newspaper front pages. Consequently, they may happen to take action by seizing a firearm in search of verification of them transforming their empty existence into stuff of legend, giving enough to take about for days, months and years to come. Such a breakthrough, from zero to hero! Translator: Rhys Llwyd PUBLISHER: TEKTIME
