Book excerpt: Objectif : L'objectif de ce travail de thèse est d'élaborer, de valider et d'analyser un questionnaire destiné à être adressé à tous les étudiants en odontologie ayant terminé leur 5e année (2e année du Diplôme de Formation Approfondie en Sciences Odontologiques DFASO2) en 2019 pour effectuer un état des lieux de la formation clinique en odontologie en France. Ce bilan pourrait contribuer à la refonte de la 6e année qui complèterait l'acquisition des connaissances et compétences du futur chirurgien-dentiste. Matériel et méthodes : Ce questionnaire a été élaboré sur Google Form et diffusé en présentiel ou par mail aux 1273 étudiants venant de valider leur 5e année. Résultats : La grande majorité des actes le plus souvent rencontrés en exercice d'omnipratique sont les actes les plus fréquemment réalisés par les répondants et sont également les actes pour lesquels ils s'évaluent être le plus autonomes. De manière générale, les étudiants se sentent prêts à exercer en cabinet. Cet état des lieux montre que l'enseignement actuel les sensibilise à la dentisterie préventive. Il semble cependant que les étudiants ne réalisent pas suffisamment certains actes minimalement invasifs (éclaircissement, inlay, onlay, facette) et consultent peu ou pas la littérature scientifique dans le cadre de leurs choix thérapeutiques. Une attention particulière doit être portée au temps de travail clinique des étudiants en 4e et 5e années même si le volume horaire hebdomadaire moyen augmente entre ces 2 années : il est seulement pour 44% des étudiants de 4e année supérieur ou égal à 15 heures et 69% de ceux de 5e année. Conclusion : Les résultats de ce questionnaire mettent en exergue beaucoup de points positifs, notamment l'autonomie globale que semble avoir la majorité des étudiants à l'issue de leur 5e année, étant précisé que ces données sont celles d'étudiants auxquels il reste encore un an de formation. Ce bilan met aussi en évidence les axes sur lesquels il faut probablement insister lors de la réforme de la 6e année, notamment intégrer davantage d'actes prothétiques et de chirurgie orale lors de cette dernière année de formation initiale.
