Download or read book L animation socioculturelle quelle place dans le projet urbain written by Collectif and published by Carrières Sociales Editions. This book was released on 2017-06-21 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book PROMOTION DE LA SANTE ET AUTONOMISATION DANS LE CONTEXTE AFRICAIN

Download or read book PROMOTION DE LA SANTE ET AUTONOMISATION DANS LE CONTEXTE AFRICAIN written by David HouŽto and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-02-26 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Accounting for Culture

Download or read book Accounting for Culture written by Caroline Andrew and published by University of Ottawa Press. This book was released on 2005-03-30 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many scholars, practitioners, and policy-makers in the cultural sector argue that Canadian cultural policy is at a crossroads: that the environment for cultural policy-making has evolved substantially and that traditional rationales for state intervention no longer apply. The concept of cultural citizenship is a relative newcomer to the cultural policy landscape, and offers a potentially compelling alternative rationale for government intervention in the cultural sector. Likewise, the articulation and use of cultural indicators and of governance concepts are also new arrivals, emerging as potentially powerful tools for policy and program development. Accounting for Culture is a unique collection of essays from leading Canadian and international scholars that critically examines cultural citizenship, cultural indicators, and governance in the context of evolving cultural practices and cultural policy-making. It will be of great interest to scholars of cultural policy, communications, cultural studies, and public administration alike.

Book Folktales from western Newfoundland

Download or read book Folktales from western Newfoundland written by Angela Kerfont and published by Presses universitaires de Rouen et du Havre. This book was released on 1985 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Modern History of Visual Art in Southern Nigeria

Download or read book Modern History of Visual Art in Southern Nigeria written by Laurent Fourchard and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This books takes into consideration the changes that have occurred within the visual art landscape in Nigeria during the 20th century. This historical change is the result of new cultural exchanges between Africa, Europe and America, exchanges that developed different artistic practices and promoted new patrons. In this framework, cities have played a fundamental role in the development of modern art, especially because of the presence of a local or international art market. All the chapters of this book are related to specific Southern Nigerian cities: some are places of ancient royal art patronage (bronze casting in Benin City), some are city market where various popular expression of art could have developed (calendar in Onitsha), a few are strictly university based (Nsukka) but most of them have welcome elements of artistic lineages scattered all over Nigeria (the Fákéye family for instance).

Book The Cultural Economy of Cities

Download or read book The Cultural Economy of Cities written by Allen J Scott and published by SAGE. This book was released on 2000-08-11 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Culture is big business. It is at the root of many urban regeneration schemes throughout the world, yet the economy of culture is under-theorized and under-developed. In this wide-ranging and penetrating volume, the economic logic and structure of the modern cultural industries is explained. The connection between cultural production and urban-industrial concentration is demonstrated and the book shows why global cities are the homelands of the modern cultural industries. This book covers many sectors of cultural economy, from craft industries such as clothing and furniture, to modern media industries such as cinema and music recording. The role of the global city as a source of creative and innovative energy is examined in detail, with particular attention paid to Paris and Los Angeles.

Book EBOOK The Social World of Older People Understanding Loneliness and Social Isolation in Later Life

Download or read book EBOOK The Social World of Older People Understanding Loneliness and Social Isolation in Later Life written by Christina Victor and published by McGraw-Hill Education (UK). This book was released on 2008-12-16 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A timely and welcome contribution to the research on loneliness and kindred phenomena." Lars Andersson, International Journal of Ageing and Later Life, 2010. Developments to the physical environment, scientific and technological innovation, the reorganisation of work and leisure and the impact of globalization and global capitalism have all influenced the nature of the world in which we now live. Social engagement and relationships, however, remain important at any age and their quality is a key element contributing to the quality of life of older people. This book provides a detailed account of loneliness and social isolation as experienced by older people living in Britain. The authors consider the incidence and effects of isolation and loneliness, identifying the factors which lead to such experiences and considering potential interventions. They also argue that these feelings are experienced at all stages of the life course and not unique to the social world of older people. Victor, Scambler and Bond rationalise that this is an important area, as both loneliness and social isolation are negatively associated with both quality and quantity of life - whilst the maintenance of social relationships is seen as a key component of 'successful ageing'. The Social World of Older People is important reading for students of social work, gerontology, community care and social policy as well as being of interest to policy makers and practitioners in these fields.

Book The linguistic integration of adult migrants from one country to another from one language to another

Download or read book The linguistic integration of adult migrants from one country to another from one language to another written by Council of Europe and published by Council of Europe. This book was released on 2014-01-01 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The linguistic integration of migrants affects every aspect of settling in a new country (employment, health, etc.). The aim of this collection of texts is to propose a number of specific measures member states can take to help adult migrants become acquainted with the language of the host country. The main focus is on organising language courses that meet migrants’ real communication needs. It is not enough for authorities simply to consider the technical aspects of such courses, they should also design and conduct them in accordance with the fundamental values of the Council of Europe. A number of issues concerning the linguistic integration of adult migrants are presented here, beginning with the notion of linguistic integration itself. Family reunion, the nature of citizenship and the function of language tests, among others, are dealt with from the point of view of language and language use. Readers are invited to reflect on the type of language competences that need to be acquired as well as an appropriate use of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The collection also sets out approaches and instruments designed to assist in implementing effective policies.

Book Accountability Technologies

Download or read book Accountability Technologies written by Dietmar Offenhuber and published by Birkhauser. This book was released on 2013 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A growing part of the public is concerned about cities being designed and governed in a responsible way. In the contemporary information society, however, the democratic obligation of the citizens to inform themselves thoroughly, so that they can participate in public affairs has become impossible to fulfill. Rather than submitting to the opinions of self-proclaimed experts, citizens need new ways to make sense of what is going on around them. Accountability technologies stand for new innovative approaches to bottom-up governance: technologies to monitor those in power and hold them accountable for their actions. Accountability technologies are designed to coordinate citizen-led data collection, visualization and analysis in order to achieve social change. This book takes a close look at initiatives that have succeeded in making an impact on the reality of the city, as well as the motivations, strategies and tactics of the people who create and use these technologies. How can data generated by citizens be put into action?

Book Essays on population and space in India

Download or read book Essays on population and space in India written by Collectif and published by Institut français de Pondichéry. This book was released on 2021-09-28 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Indian territory, from regional to local level, remains a fundamentally composite space, divided into varying segments of more homogeneous appearance. Closer analysis shows that these segments are themselves subdivided and that spaces and resources are unequally shared and often disputed among social groups. The chapters in this volume, each in its own way, illustrate the ubiquity of oppositions running across the regions, irrespective of the level of analysis chosen. The resulting image of India is that of a complex and fast evolving system characterized by strong social and historical Patterning as well as extensive spatial recombination. This collection of essays, first published in France in 1997 and based on abundant cartographic materials, brings together a selection of studies by geographers and other social scientists on India, covering a large variety of topics : population dynamics, rural-urban linkages, spatial discrimination, health issues, minorities, etc. These varied research interests open a large number of areas related to spatial organization in India, integrating demographic, economic and anthropological questions and illustrate the relevance of an informed geographical perspective for the study of social transformation in India. The authors would readily agree on the modesty which these essays are bound to evidence, so rich and embedded is the fabric of Indian space. Readers henceforth have more material to form, in their turn, new images reflecting contemporary India and its transitional geography.

Book Production institutionnelle de l enfance

Download or read book Production institutionnelle de l enfance written by Véronique Pache Huber and published by . This book was released on 2016-06-30 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
