Download or read book The Al Qaeda Discourse of the Greater Kufr written by Daurius Figueira and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2004-11 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the final text of the trilogy consisting of Jihad in Trinidad and Tobago and Exiting a Racist Worldview. The text presents a deconstruction of Islamic discourse with specific reference to jihad (military engagement) and the shahid (martyr). The Al Qaeda discourse of the greater kufr is deconstructed to expose its antecedents in militarist Islamic discourse born out of the contradiction between Islam and western capitalist colonial imperialism. Primary to the development of the discourse of military engagement with the west is the discourse of Pakistani thinkers deconstructed in the text. The discourse of Al Qaeda is then the product of contradiction between Islam and western imperialism and hegemony. Thereby constituting the most potent threat to Islam since the crusades as manifested in the discourse of Al Qaeda.

Book excerpt: The Prophet (saws) established in a number of narration’s that we should stick to the main body of the Ummah: “My community will not come together on misguidance.”; “A group of my community will continue on truth until the coming of the Hour.”; “Whoever leaves the community or separates himself from it by the length of a span, dies the death of the Jahiliyya (period of kufr prior to Islam).”;”You have to follow the congregation for verily Allah will not make the largest group of Muhammad’s community agree on error.”; “Whoever among you wants to be in the middle of Paradise, let him cling to the congregation.”; “Shaytan is a wolf like the wolf that preys on sheep, taking the isolated and the stray among them; therefore, avoid factionalism and keep to the congregation and the collective and the masjid.”; “Verily Allah has protected my Community from agreeing upon error.”; “Allah’s hand is over the group, and whoever dissents from them departs to hell.”; “Allah’s hand is over the group, follow the largest group, for verily whoever dissents from them departs to hell.” Who the Main body is has not changed for the past 1400 years, and that is the Madhhabs (Hanaf, Shafii, Maliki, Hanbali), this work discusses the implications of these Ahadith in our time and presents demographics for the muslim world showing what the muslim world follows along with an assessment of what this means in relation to the signs of the hour. Book Islam and Other Religions

Download or read book Islam and Other Religions written by Irfan Omar and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-09-13 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of essays assesses various dimensions of dialogue between Islam and other religions, especially Christianity. This book celebrates the work of Professor Mahmoud Ayoub and reflects the themes that are central in his scholarship spanned over the last three decades and which are more relevant than ever at the inauguration of the twenty-first century. The themes reflected are the Qur’an and hadith, theology and philosophy, and Islam’s interaction with other religions. Ayoub needs no introduction to those familiar with and engaged in inter-religious dialogue in general and Muslim-Christian-Jewish dialogue in particular. He is a well-known Muslim scholar and historian of religion, currently director of the Islamic studies program in the department of religion at Temple University in Philadelphia. His broad area of interest is of course Islamic studies but he has also exerted considerable scholarly efforts in comparative religion. As evidenced from Dr. Ayoub’s works, he moves with ease between philosophy and mysticism, scripture and tradition and between Islam and other religions. As a Muslim, Ayoub has provided a model of being religious which combines openness to others without compromising rigorous historical scholarship. Contributors to this volume include some of his close friends and colleagues, as well as former students both Muslim and Christian. This book was previously published as a special issue of Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations.

Book Accusations of Unbelief in Islam

Download or read book Accusations of Unbelief in Islam written by Camilla Adang and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2015-10-20 with total page 552 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume—the first of its kind—deals with takfīr: accusing one ́s opponents of unbelief (kufr). Originating in the first decades of Islam, this practice has been applied intermittently ever since. The nineteen studies included here deal with cases, covering different periods and parts of the Muslim world, of individuals or groups that used the instrument of takfīr to brand their opponents—either persons, groups or even institutions—as unbelievers who should be condemned, anathematized or even persecuted. Each case presented is placed in its sociopolitical and religious context. Together the contributions show the multifariousness that has always characterized Islam and the various ways in which Muslims either sought to suppress or to come to terms with this diversity. With contributions by: Roswitha Badry, Sonja Brentjes, Brian J. Didier, Michael Ebstein, Simeon Evstatiev, Ersilia Francesca, Robert Gleave, Steven Judd, István T.
