Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ongoing global financial crisis was not simply the fault of the financial sector. Bankers, households, and governments had all entered a spiral of greed, selfishness, and impatience in pursuit of their respective aims of higher remuneration, greater consumption, and enhanced popularity. The outcome, besides costly bank bailouts, has been rising private and public debt and stagnant economies. Economics, the ruling paradigm in today's society, can explain their motivation of self-interest but not the underlying irrationality of their behavior. Taking a view from Scripture, Philip Davis critiques the overall aims of individuals, as assumed by economics--wealth, consumption, and power--in contrast to Jesus' proclamation of the kingdom of God, the love for God and neighbor, and responsible stewardship of resources. In doing so, he aims to equip Christians to better understand the crisis from a kingdom perspective, to provide the church with a distinctive voice in these troubled times, and to press for radical Christian solutions to address the underlying difficulties. This little book aims to redress the gap in Christians' understanding that led the theologian Jurgen Moltmann to remark trenchantly, "The neglect of economics is a wound in the side of the church."

Book excerpt: The subject of money has been and probably will always be one of the most controversial and misunderstood subjects in the Body of Christ. Many of today's ministers are fearful of speaking on this subject, receiving tithes and offerings, or challenging their people in building programs, missions or outreach campaigns involving money. Why? First, I believe it has been passed down through decades of wrong teaching, spawned by the traditions of unspiritual men, secondly, because of the misuse and abuse of a few ministers over the past few years, and thirdly, because I believe that many ministers don't truly "study to shew thyself approved..." as the Bible instructs (See 2 Timothy 2:15). As a minister of three plus decades (at the writing of this book), I have never been one to shy away from controversial subjects just because individuals or groups of individuals have gotten off course or abused the truth. Religion is notorious for mocking what they don't understand. The Bible is not silent concerning the subject of money. More than 20% of what Jesus spoke about during His earthly ministry dealt with money. In the gospels alone, (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) one out of every six verses deal with finances. Since the Bible IS NOT silent on this subject, then I refuse to bow down to the status-quo of today's religious, seeker friendly, lukewarm, don't rock the boat, stay away from controversial subjects, must be politically correct Christians. My prayer is for you the reader; first, that you will be anointed to hear the truth revealed in this book and second, that the truth you know and understand will set you free. Religious clutter and mindsets, misconceptions (things that keep us from conceiving) fallacies and delusions are coming to the light revealed in God's Word and losing their hold on your life. Every false teaching and man-made doctrine that has hindered your increase will be destroyed as you go further into this manuscript. We are about to embark on a journey where religious folks have dared to tread. HIS by choice, Dr. Don D Hughes

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: KINGDOM ECONOMICS IN THE 21ST CENTURY "My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity." Proverbs 3:1-2 Those who say the Bible is outdated, obsolete, and only relevant to ancient agrarian societies will be surprised to find that what the Bible teaches about money is as relevant today as is the advice of modern experts in the fields of money, debt, real estate, and consumer affairs that share their best wealth-building tips for us today. There is a lot of biblical truth to the experts' advice included some of the latest articles found Online. It does not take an expert in economics to grasp most of these principles of personal finance. However, as good as these principles are, they are still missing some key elements. What is missing becomes clear to us when we place what the Bible teaches about personal finances alongside these experts' advice. In the First Edition of "Building Wealth" the author confirmed from the Bible that the sound principles of wealth and wealth-building from the experts in their fields are correct by successfully demonstrating the biblical link between those principles and what God had revealed about building wealth in the Book of Proverbs. In this Second Edition, the author completes what was started by expanding upon the Kingdom aspects of those principles from the teachings of Jesus on wealth found in the New Testament.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a companion volume to the well-known earlier work of the author, "Kingdom Wealth: The Power to Get It" (available from www.amazon.com, www.BarnesandNoble.com, www.trafford.com/07-2268 and other online sources). It is pragmatic and applicable to everyday living, especially appealing to those who consider themselves citizens of the Kingdom of God and radical enough to search for treasures under the biblical sands. In Isaiah 55:1, God the Father makes an ecstatic and passionate call to the thirsty, the desperate and the daring to come to His waters and buy without money. It is indeed an invitation to a business relationship, for the expression "waters", in this context, carries a commerce connotation, akin to the waterfront, the docks or port, the site of the most voluminous trade in any progressive economy. We are challenged to come and cast our bread on the waters and see it return in multiple dimensions within a few days (Ecclesiastes 11:1). This efficient and reliable Kingdom economic model is far superior to Wall Street's debt-based system or any other earth-based investment sheme; it is recession-proof, employing currencies much higher than money. Study this book and prove its immense value yourself. Get ready for true wealth.

Book excerpt: The bible makes it very clear and there is no confusion about the desire of God for us to prosper. What is the prosperity of the soul? The prosperity of the soul is the renewal of the mind where you come into conformity with the fullness of the image, the character of Christ. That is what the bible calls the prosperity of the soul. The bible says in 1 Peter 1:9] Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. So the prosperity of the soul is coming to a point where the word of God is so engrafted in you. Colossians 3: [16] says "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord". so the prosperity of the soul is to come to that point where the word of God becomes your priority. Where the word of God becomes your investment. You're growing spiritually. Spiritual growth is not how many hours you pray in tongues. You measure your spiritual growth by how much you are conforming to the nature and the ways of God. The bible says that as we behold, we're transformed. So if by January till now, you can trace a notable transformation that you now understand the ways of God, you understand the Kingdom of God and the system of this Kingdom, you understand the nature of your king, you understand the revelation, promises and the responsibilities that come with this kingdom, and that you can relate intimately with the spirit of God who is the governor of this Kingdom, then you can say you're growing. Beloved, I wish above all things that thou may prosper. Read This Book and Be Blessed

Book The Kingdom Life Approach

Download or read book The Kingdom Life Approach written by Willie Thomas Butler and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2011-10 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about the stark contrast between the Kingdom of God and the economic, political and social systems we live by every day. The world's systems have led us down a primrose path to nowhere, encouraging the pursuit of wealth and the so-called good life while ignoring the need for a morally-based and purpose-driven approach to living. The Kingdom Life Approach provides viable and alternative strategies to how we conduct our lives to achieve true, meaningful prosperity. It establishes a purpose for living that is predicated on individual assignments and an emerging church that true believers in Christ are building. Christians must change and become emissaries and a perfected church in order for Christ's Kingdom to be seen in the earth. How we live and what we pursue in life are transformational values we must demonstrate to the world. Choosing to manage our financial affairs the Kingdom way is central to this process. Willie Thomas Butler is founder and President of Kingdom Seed Foundation and its educational division, The Life Planning Institute. With over twenty years in the financial services profession, Butler has served as a Certified Financial Planner(TM)(1986-2001), Registered Investment Adviser and Financial Consultant with Salomon Smith Barney and Merrill Lynch. He also served in several Christian organizations as a board member, adviser, development officer and fundraiser. Butler authored his first book True Prosperity in 1997 and established LPI to provide an educational curriculum combined with practical training in Biblical Stewardship and money management. LPI offers courses and workshops promoting a Kingdom approach to life planning for those wanting to serve God using every resource entrusted to them. Butler is a graduate of Regent University with a master of arts in public policy and holds a bachelors of science in business management from Adelphi University. He is also a graduate of the Institute for Financial Planning in New York.

Download or read book Economic Parables written by David Cowan and published by InterVarsity Press. This book was released on 2012-03-09 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ever wondered how to pay the next bill? Felt the world is unfair in economic rewards? Been indecisive about investing wisely? These types of fiscal questions are addressed from a Christian viewpoint in Economic Parables. Using his vast experience in the financial world as well as church ministry, the author invites you to listen directly to the words of Jesus and reflect on a number of economic parables to understand life in an increasingly globalized economy. Some of the answers you find will be surprising, in part because Jesus was a more sophisticated economist than he is given credit for. His words will shed light on many modern economic problems and decisions we may not think to go to the Bible about. By taking this journey through the economic parables, your response to finances and the global marketplace will be enriched from a balanced biblical approach. Each chapter contains a parable and reflection, followed by a question making this book ideal for group or personal Bible study.
