Through it God gave his people their freedom. For forty tumultuous years God and Moses and a chronically rebellious people suffered and fought and established the foundations of a legal system and a system of ethics that changed the world. Book Ibn Sab in of the Ricote Valley the First and Last Islamic Place in Spain

Download or read book Ibn Sab in of the Ricote Valley the First and Last Islamic Place in Spain written by Govert Westerveld and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-01-12 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the outcome of a close study of the Ricote Valley and its famous Sufi Ibn Sab'in. Its purpose is to disclose more of the historical and comparative data. Arab Spaniards have created a glorious human story that lasted for centuries within the scope of the Mediterranean culture. However, a lot of the history of the Ricote Valley is only written in Spanish and still not in English. Andalusian scientists moved from the region of Murcia to the heart of the Islamic world. Their move had quite a deep effect. Among these scientists was the great Sufi philosopher, Muhammad Ibn-'Abdul-Haq known as Ibn- Sab'in (d. 669 H. = 1270 AD), who came from the Ricote Valley. He is the originator of the deep philosophical approach in dealing with highly humanistic Sufi thought, and the author of the magnificent treatise Al-Kalam 'ala Al-Masa'il Al-Siqqilliyya, in which he answered the philosophical questions that Frederick II, the Emperor of Sicily, sent to Muslim scientists in the Mashreq and the Maghreb.

Book Book of David

  • Author : David Steinberg
  • Publisher : Simon and Schuster
  • Release : 2007-06-12
  • ISBN : 1416545565
  • Pages : 211 pages

Download or read book Book of David written by David Steinberg and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2007-06-12 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From award-winning comedian, director, writer, and producer David Steinberg comes the totally original, utterly blasphemous, and hysterically funny memoir of a young man who emerged from a traditional Jewish childhood to become an international star—all because, it seems, he kept God in stitches. David Steinberg was raised in Winnipeg, Canada, by parents who expected little from him. And no wonder. Instead of studying Talmud in order to become a rabbi, he chose to major in Martin and Lewis with a minor in basketball. As David imagines the story of his life (since his success otherwise makes no sense), God one day spotted him on the playground and decided that this young man with no ambition could go far with His help. Sure enough, God soon had David on network TV and Broadway, and selling out nightclubs across the country—as well as being pursued by hot starlets. The Book of David is David Steinberg's hilarious trip down memory lane, assuming that the lane has a biblical address. This wild riff on the Old Testament is guaranteed laughter.

Book How To Beat Depression with the Bible

Download or read book How To Beat Depression with the Bible written by Taylor Johnson and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-01-21 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Depression has only one goal: to kill you. Be it by the means of a swift and intentional act or by a long, drawn-out process of slowly taking your life with alcohol and drug abuse, it only wants you dead. Those who fight depression with a bottle of gin or a needle in the arm are losing the fight. They're currently killing themselves slowly, just like depression wants them to. Every antidepressant has a possible side effect of making your depression worse. Is that winning the fight or giving depression the upper hand? Depression wants us to cheat on our lives by forcing us to have an affair with death. The purpose of this book is to help you learn how to love your life more than the idea of death. For someone with depression, death seems like a sweet release, the only way to end the pain. Trust me on this: it's not, especially if you die without knowing Jesus. A life of perpetual agony, despair, rejection, and suffering can't even compare to the first minute of an eternity in Hell separated from God. Depression doesn't care who you are--it wants to kill you. It's time that we finally beat depression and love our lives more than death. In this book, you'll find three things. The first is a clear explanation of the biblical Gospel so that you can learn how to be saved and how to know with certainty that you're saved. The second thing you will find within is my personal story on battling depression, anxiety, suicidal contemplations, a night terror disorder, and severe insomnia. Finally, you will also find nine Bible-based steps in this book that will teach you How To Beat Depression With The Bible.

We do not need to linger in our problems, but instead we can live in the good promises of God. In all that Jesus has done by dying and rising for us, we can have a good day every day. God's glory is too awesome to stay stuck in anything bad. Life is too short for a bad cup of coffee and for a whole lot of other bad things. In the midst of our often crazy and chaotic lives, faith says, "Life is good today."

Book The Biblical Life of King David

Download or read book The Biblical Life of King David written by Freddie L. Butler and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-11-19 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Biblical Life of King David is the story of the greatest king Israel has ever known. It is titled as such because the only source used for this story is your Bible. Bible scriptures have been interwoven into the story to encourage group Bible study. However, the narrative reads like a novel. King David had a humble beginning as a shepherd boy. Yet God testified regarding the heart of David as having a heart like God (Acts 13:22). When reading this story, you will become very aware of why God testified this way about David. Just to clue you in on three possible reasons: King David was quick to repent when he knew he had made a mistake. Though King David was accused of having blood on his hands, he never killed a person off the battlefield. King David's judgements as king were righteous before God. I pray that you enjoy reading The Biblical Life of King David as much as I enjoyed the study and writing of this story.

Download or read book Fear Not written by Ami Thomson and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2020-09-25 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If someone had told Ami Thomson a few years ago she’d be sharing a battle strategy of victory over fear and hope for a God-blessed future, she’d never have believed it. Ami had lived gripped by fear from earliest childhood. Fear of an angry father. Fear of an angry divine Judge. Despite a successful career, marriage, and young family, by adulthood Ami found herself in a death-trap spiral of panic attacks, grueling pain, and hopelessness. No self-help books, therapy, or anti-depressants made a difference. A message of God’s grace, mercy, and love seemed too good to be true. In desperation, Ami turned for answers to the ultimate source, God’s Word. There she discovered the healing truth that a loving heavenly Father doesn’t want His children crippled by a spirit of fear but to be more-than-conquerors through the power of God’s Holy Spirit. Fear Not! Unleash the Conqueror Within was written for every person struggling with fear, insecurity, anxiety, depression, addiction, or hopelessness. Intended as a working journal, it offers a step-by-step action plan to defeat fear and become more-than-conquerors in Jesus Christ. With personal anecdote, practical help, and biblical principles, Ami shares from her own experience how to rise up, stand firm, kick fear back into its corner, knock it right out of the ring, and keep it defeated forever.

Book Don t Forget to Call Home

Download or read book Don t Forget to Call Home written by Aaron L. Starr and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-09-07 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At a hundred years old, Holocaust survivor Wolf Gruca turned to his grandson, Rabbi Aaron Starr, and asked, “Where was God?” Don’t Forget to Call Home is a grandson’s attempt to respond to a weeping grandfather, and it’s a clergyman’s effort to help the modern person deepen a relationship with the Divine. With warmth and wisdom, Rabbi Starr sets out to answer the question, “Where is God, and what does God want of us?” Perhaps God is no longer the Law Giver or Judge, the Warrior or even the Miracle Maker. Perhaps God is an Empty-Nester Parent, expecting us to live with gratitude, obligation, joy, and hope. Perhaps, like a loving parent whose children are now grown-up, God desires us to act like adults by emulating our Heavenly Parent. Perhaps, too, God and Grandpa are reminding us: “Don’t forget to call home.”
