Book Adsorption on and Surface Chemistry of Hydroxyapatite

Download or read book Adsorption on and Surface Chemistry of Hydroxyapatite written by Dwarika N. Misra and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hydroxyapatite is the structural prototype of the main inorganic constituent of bone and teeth and, together with fluorapatite, is also one of the principal minerals in commercial phosphate ores. The adsorption characteristics and surface chemistry of hydroxyapatite are important in understanding the growth, dissolution and adhesion mechanisms of bone and tooth tissues and in elucidating the factors in mineral beneficiation such as floation and flocculation. This volume essentially documents the proceedings of the symposium on the same topic held at the American Chemical Society Meeting in Kansas City, MO, September 12-17, 1982. It includes a few papers which were not presented at the symposium but does not comprise the entire program. This volume provides, on a limited scale, a multidisciplinary overview of current work in the field of adsorptive behavior and surface chemistry of hydroxyapatite and includes certain review articles. There are two papers each on adsorption, adsorption and its effects on crystal growth or dissolution kinetics, effects of electrochemical parameters on solubility and adsorption, and newer physical methods (exoemission and high-resolution NMR) of examining hydroxyapatite surface. There is one paper each on structure modelling of apatite surface based on octacalcium phosphate interface and on biodegradation of sintered hydroxyapatite.

Book Polygamma Glutamic Acid Reduces Kinetics of HAp Demineralization

Download or read book Polygamma Glutamic Acid Reduces Kinetics of HAp Demineralization written by Zeeshan Qamar and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013-01 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The modus operandi of salivary proteins in reducing the kinetics of hydroxyapatite and enamel dissolution during simulated caries challenges is thought to be associated with interaction of glutamic acid residues with hydroxyapatite (HAp)surfaces. Polygamma glutamic acid (PGGA) is the basis of theJapanese traditional foodstuff 'Natto' and is a naturally occurring polypeptide composed of glutamic acid residues, and may therefore perform simlar caries inhibitory functions.

Book Tooth Enamel Frontiers in Mineral Chemistry and Biochemistry Integrative Cell Biology and Genetics

Download or read book Tooth Enamel Frontiers in Mineral Chemistry and Biochemistry Integrative Cell Biology and Genetics written by Steven Joseph Brookes and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2019-03-20 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Tooth Enamel: Frontiers in Mineral Chemistry and Biochemistry, Integrative Cell Biology and Genetics" incorporates the proceedings of the 9th International Enamel Symposium (Enamel 9) hosted in the UK and chaired by Professor Jennifer Kirkham and Professor Ariane Berdal. The topic covers cellular and molecular aspects of the development, pathology, evolution and repair or regeneration of dental enamel. The original research papers and reviews will be of interest to all enamel and biomineralization researchers. Clinicians will find up-to-date thinking and opinion on the aetiology of enamel pathologies and their potential future treatment via novel strategies for preventing, repairing and regenerating enamel.
