Book Killing Story Of Melinda

Download or read book Killing Story Of Melinda written by Dee Devino and published by . This book was released on 2021-06-28 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Great mini book about Melinda Loveless, who committed the heinous torture and murder of 12 year old Shanda Sharer. Loveless was only 16 when she recruited 3 accomplices, Mary Laurine "Laurie" Tackett age 17, Hope Anna Rippey age 15 and Toni Lawrence age 15 to abduct, torture and murder 12 year old Shanda Renee Sharer, who used to attend Hazelwood Junior High School with her (Loveless had repeated multiple grades in school) because Melinda suspected that Shanda Sharer was having a relationship with Loveless's 14 year old girlfriend Amanda Heavrin. One of the first (and best) true crime books I ever read was about this case (Cruel Sacrifice by Aphrodite Jones) and when I read it I was horrified, because the victim was my age and I couldn't believe that she got killed over this girl's jealousy.

Book excerpt: On a freezing January in 1992, five teenage girls crowded into a car. By the end of the night, only four of them were alive. The fifth had been tortured and mutilated nearly beyond recognition. Her name was Shanda Sharer; her age-twelve. When the people of Madison, Indiana heard that a brutal murder had been committed in their midst, they were stunned. Then the story became even more bizarre. The four accused murderers were all girls under the age of eighteen: Melinda Loveless, Laurle Tackett, Hope Rippey, and Tonl Lawrence. Here, for the first time, veteran true crime journalist Aphrodite Jones reveals the shocking truth behind the most savage crime in Indiana history-a tragic story of twisted love and insane jealousy, lesbianism, brutal child abuse, and sadistic ritual killing in small-town America...and of the young innocent who paid the ultimate price.

Book A Cold Blooded Business

Download or read book A Cold Blooded Business written by Marek Fuchs and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2009-03-10 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1959, Olathe, Kansas was made famous by the murder of the Clutter family and Truman Capote's ground-breaking book on the crime, In Cold Blood. But fewer know that Olathe achieved notoriety again in 1982, when a member of Olathe's growing Evangelical Christian population, a gentle man named David Harmon, was bludgeoned to death while sleeping—the force of the blows crushing his face beyond recognition. Suspicion quickly fell on David's wife, Melinda, and his best friend, Mark, student body president of the local bible college. However, the long arms of the church defended the two and no charges were pressed. The case was declared as dead as David Harmon. Two decades later, two Olathe police officers revived the cold case making startling revelations that reopened old wounds and chasms within the Olathe community—revelations that rocked not only Olathe, but also the two well-healed towns in which Melinda and Mark resided. David's former wife and friend were now living separate, successful, law-abiding lives. Melinda lived in suburban Ohio, a devoted wife and mother of two. Mark had become a Harvard MBA, a high-paid corporate mover, a family man, and a respected community member in a wealthy suburb of New York City. Some twenty years after the brutal murder, each received the dreaded knock of justice at the door. A Cold-Blooded Business provides fascinating character studies of Melinda and Mark, killers who seemingly returned to normalcy after one blood-splattered night of violence. A fast-moving true crime narrative, A Cold-Blooded Business is a chilling exploration into the darkest depths of the human psyche.

Book Black Directors in Hollywood

Download or read book Black Directors in Hollywood written by Melvin Donalson and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2010-01-01 with total page 621 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hollywood film directors are some of the world's most powerful storytellers, shaping the fantasies and aspirations of people around the globe. Since the 1960s, African Americans have increasingly joined their ranks, bringing fresh insights to movie characterizations, plots, and themes and depicting areas of African American culture that were previously absent from mainstream films. Today, black directors are making films in all popular genres, while inventing new ones to speak directly from and to the black experience. This book offers a first comprehensive look at the work of black directors in Hollywood, from pioneers such as Gordon Parks, Melvin Van Peebles, and Ossie Davis to current talents including Spike Lee, John Singleton, Kasi Lemmons, and Carl Franklin. Discussing 67 individuals and over 135 films, Melvin Donalson thoroughly explores how black directors' storytelling skills and film techniques have widened both the thematic focus and visual style of American cinema. Assessing the meanings and messages in their films, he convincingly demonstrates that black directors are balancing Hollywood's demand for box office success with artistic achievement and responsibility to ethnic, cultural, and gender issues.
