I have seen many horrid things as a sniper in a Special Forces unit. The details are irrelevant here, there are some in the pages inside. I can honestly say that this book is about how a person, such as I, deals with PTSD and its expressive turmoil it plays inside our minds. It is, in my opinion, incurable and the phrase, "get over it," should never be in the same conversation. I am not promoting poetry as the only means of self-healing. I am, more importantly, trying to encourage other veterans to do something to aide in healing themselves. It's hard work but one cannot rely on medications and outside influences to heal them. Just in combat, much of the time, you can only rely on yourself. You must want to live. I have dove deeper in this book to explore topics outside the combat zone. Topics assigned to me in college classes, as well as everyday life. I did this because we are not in combat anymore. Everyday problems blend into our past world, an avoidable part of living in society. But, through the same self-healing methodology, I feel you can tackle them as well. But then again, like I already said, you must want to.

Contrary to the shrill, mindless propaganda of the 'war on drugs', very few of the people who use alcohol, marijuana, heroin, or cocaine will ever become 'addicted', and of those who do become heavy drug users, most will matrue out of it in time, without treatment. Research indicates that 'treatment' is completely ineffective, an absolute waste of time and money. Instead of looking at drub addiction as a disease, Dr. Schaler proposes that we view it as willful commitment or dedication, akin to joining a religion or pursuing a romantic involvement. While heavy consumption of drugs is often foolish and self-destructive, it is a matter of personal choice.

That was when I published one of my books, Sociology of Religion: Changing Conceptions in the Structure of Islam. However, in relatively recent times, we have faced the backward process of reverting to traditional norms. That reversed cultural change led to fundamentalism, including fundamentalism in religion, which is a precursor to addiction to religion. That has ultimately resulted in national and international terrorism. That born-again trend encouraged me to do research in this field, including addiction to religion. That led me to write this book. I have concluded in this book that both addiction to drugs and addiction to religion are a disease, a delirium, and a psychic syndrome influenced by a mental disorder. During the last two to three decades, there has been a significant rise in religious fundamentalism leading to addiction to religion, which has caused global havoc.
