Recent trends in as many as ten languages are considered, including general and specialized language, monolingual as well as bilingual and printed as well as online dictionaries.
Download or read book The Hungarian Language in the Digital Age written by Georg Rehm and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-08-13 with total page 79 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This white paper is part of a series that promotes knowledge about language technology and its potential. It addresses educators, journalists, politicians, language communities and others. The availability and use of language technology in Europe varies between languages. Consequently, the actions that are required to further support research and development of language technologies also differ for each language. The required actions depend on many factors, such as the complexity of a given language and the size of its community. META-NET, a Network of Excellence funded by the European Commission, has conducted an analysis of current language resources and technologies. This analysis focused on the 23 official European languages as well as other important national and regional languages in Europe. The results of this analysis suggest that there are many significant research gaps for each language. A more detailed expert analysis and assessment of the current situation will help maximise the impact of additional research and minimize any risks. META-NET consists of 54 research centres from 33 countries that are working with stakeholders from commercial businesses, government agencies, industry, research organisations, software companies, technology providers and European universities. Together, they are creating a common technology vision while developing a strategic research agenda that shows how language technology applications can address any research gaps by 2020.
Download or read book Love Letters to a Neo Nazi written by Richard Field and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-12-09 with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In April 2011 militant hate groups affiliated with Hungary's Neo-Nazi Jobbik party attempted to ethnically cleanse the northern Hungarian town of Gyöngyöspata of its Roma inhabitants. They were thwarted by the Good Friday evacuation of 267 Roma women and children by the Hungarian Red Cross and the ensuing international uproar which left the center-right Fidesz government little choice but to ban the very "uniformed criminals" it had allowed to terrorize Roma communities for over a year. Seeking to deflect criticism from itself, the Fidesz government accused American businessman, philanthropist and Red Cross volunteer, Richard Field, of "staging a mock evacuation" for the purpose of "harming Hungary's image abroad." This is Field's story told through articles he wrote for The Budapest Times, open letters to public officials, letters to editors, and speeches.
Download or read book The Hungarian Patient written by Peter Krasztev and published by Central European University Press. This book was released on 2015-07-01 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents compelling essays by leading Hungarian and foreign authors on the variety of social movements and parties that seek influence and power in a Hungary mired in deep and manifold crisis. The main question the volume tries to answer is: what can we expect after the fall of the semi-authoritarian Orb n regime in Hungary.ÿ Who will be the new players?ÿ What are their backgrounds? What are their political and social ideals, intentions and methods? The studies in the first section of the volume provide the reader with the reasons of the emergence of these new movements: a deep analysis of the historical, political and cultural background of the current situation. The second part contains essays and case studies which challenge the movements and parties involved to look beyond their current ineffectiveness, and to find ways of meeting the challenges that would allow them to exercise responsible and effective leadership in their time and place. This collection would be the first of the kind both in the field of movement theory/history and democracy studies because it reflects on very recent developments not researched in the international scholarly literature. One would not be able to understand contemporary Hungarian society without reading it before the 2014 elections.

Download or read book Education for the 21st Century Impact of ICT and Digital Resources written by Deepak Kumar and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-10-11 with total page 415 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is a pleasure to offer you this book containing papers about ICT and education from the World Computer Congress 2006 (WCC 2006), held in Santiago, Chile and sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). A lot of people worked very hard to make this event happen and to produce this book. The programme committee with IFIP members from around the world issued a call for papers inspiring almost 80 people to submit papers, posters, demonstrations, and workshops to the IFIP TC3 (Technical Committee on Education) sub-conference of WCC 2006. The submitted papers were reviewed by a large group of referees to select the papers to be presented at the conference. What is really amazing is that all these people freely contributed their time and effort to do all this work. The TC3 sub-conference of WCC 2006 has two themes: Informatics Curricula, TEaching Methods and best practice (ICTEM II), and Teaching and Learning with ICT: Theory, Policy and Practice. These themes represent many of the broad range of interests of the Working Groups of IFIP TC3. Two kinds of papers are included in this book: full papers and short papers. Full papers are standard papers that are appropriate for an international conference on ICT and informatics education. Of the 64 full paper submissions, 28 (44%) were accepted. A short paper represents work in progress, opinion, a proposal, work with untested results, or an experience report.
Download or read book Kihivas written by Istvan Kopar and published by . This book was released on 2015-11-13 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solo circumnavigation of the globe. Fewer than 300 sailors in history have accomplished it, less than the number of people who have climbed Mt. Everest, or even those who have gone to space. In 1990, Istvan Kopar set out to earn his place among this elite fraternity-and to do so with only one stop. If he were successful, he would realize a lifelong dream, and bring pride to his home country of Hungary in the process. Yet the risk of failure carried with it the possibility of dying alone in the middle of the vast sea. Over twenty years ago, Kopar first published the inspiring chronicle of his journey in his native Hungarian. All of his hopes, dreams, and fears coalesced into one word: Kihivas-The Challenge. Now, Kihivas: Alone at the Ends of the Earth brings this thrilling story to an English-speaking readership for the first time. Kopar recounts every element of his adventure, from custom-building his own 31-foot yacht, Salammbo, to battling the legendary waves of the Roaring Forties. His narrative is interspersed with proud descriptions of Hungary's impressive maritime heritage, even as a landlocked country, and heartfelt portrayals of the memories that kept him going as he faced thousands of miles of lonely ocean. Experience a glimpse into the struggles, thrills, and insights known only to those who dare to pursue the greatest of challenges-alone at the ends of the earth.

Book excerpt: "This volume is the first work to cover post-Communist developments in historical studies in six Eastern European countries (Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, and Bulgaria) from a comparative and critical perspective, written by scholars from the region itself. It is a building block for scholars of the history of European and global historical studies, and a useful pedagogical tool for classes on the history of historical studies. Each individual chapter is in itself a guide to further research through a wealth of detailed notes and references."--BOOK JACKET.
Download or read book Serpent Rising The Kundalini Compendium Magyar Ford t s written by Neven Paar and published by Winged Shoes Publishing. This book was released on 2023-10-29 with total page 779 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. A Kundalini felébresztése része a Lelked földi küldetésének.
