Once you are finished tracing the image, you can add as little or as much color as you want. It is like having two books in one. Great for children or adults who already show an interest in drawing. Excellent way to relax, unwind and occupy a busy mind. Perfect way to hone your drawing skills and perfect your line technique. Keeps kids busy for hours. Great for keeping the mind focused and sharp. Increase hand to eye coordination. Perfect for long car rides, airplane travels, train rides or any place you find yourself waiting. We recommend placing a blank piece of paper or thick card stock under each drawing before you start tracing. This will help prevent your tracing lines from appearing on other pages in the book. "I came up with the idea for Trace and Color when I was drawing up pages for an adult coloring book. I noticed how time seemed to slip away and I forgot about all my troubles. Being able to give you the same opportunity to relax and unwind is a true blessing. Just follow the lines and watch the time slip right on by!" Tracing Tips Place a piece of paper or thick card stock under each page before tracing. This will help prevent your tracing lines from appearing on other pages in the book. Use a fine tipped pencil at first. This way you can erase your happy accidents. Ball point pens glide easily across the pages. Try tracing with a colored pencil for a truly unique, artistic effect. Fine tipped charcoal or graphite works great too. You can even use either of these to hone your shading techniques. Oh yeah, Have lots of fun!

Book The Story in the Picture

Download or read book The Story in the Picture written by Christine Mulcahey and published by Teachers College Press. This book was released on 2009 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides teachers with the skills, and freedom, to design rich and open–ended art experiences for young children. The author demonstrates that using fine art reproductions in the early childhood curriculum allows children to construct their own meanings, teaches diversity, fosters thinking skills, and encourages storytelling. Based on the NAEYC and NAEA standards, this teacher–friendly resource includes lesson ideas, examples of activities, and photographs of children. “The Story in the Picture has the capacity to have a profound impact on how art is viewed by educators by changing the art experience from one of insignificance to one that contributes greatly to the cognitive growth of the child.” —Sharon Shaffer, Executive Director, Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center “Christine Mulcahey’s watchwords are freedom, creativity, and imagination. . . . One can almost feel perspectives opening on her side of the looking glass as children’s voices break through the hush, and we come in touch with the unexpected.” —From the Foreword by Maxine Greene, Teachers College, Columbia University “Early childhood teachers will find this well–written, engaging, and easy–to–read book to be a gift! It makes sense of current research on early childhood and art and speaks to many common insecurities with easy–to–implement suggestions for the classroom.” —Cathy Topal, Smith College “In the tradition of Geraldine Dimondstein and W. Lambert Brittain, Christine Mulcahey shares wise counsel gleaned from conversations with young children about the art they make and the art that they encounter in richly varied preschool programs. —Christine Marmé Thompson, Pennsylvania State University

Book Kids of New York

Download or read book Kids of New York written by Anthony Colon and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2023-11-21 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author was born in the South Bronx in 1970, a time when chaos and despair wreaked havoc on the community, in a place where crime ruled the streets, where hope and poverty lived on the same side of the block. A young mother decided to take her baby boy and ran. She packed up and moved to a better place, a town called Springfield. It was a new home, where the butterflies hummed and the hummingbirds chirped to a new melody. The young boy lived his younger years in a state of bliss, that is until the dark clouds rolled in. The family fell on hard times. The author's biggest worries were where was the next meal coming from or how to stay warm in a frigid apartment. Times were tough, but the young boy kept his resolve and was undeterred by all the misery around him. He found a better place, a place inside himself. Even though everything around him was falling apart--including his family life, school, and friendships--he never faltered and kept his chin up. When you hit rock bottom, there is only one way to go: up. Like the saying goes, "Seven times down, eight times up." Throughout the years, the author was able to overcome great adversity and make a better life for himself. He has owned and operated several martial arts schools in the New York City area. The author also founded the Kids of New York, an organization which holds free events for city youth including breaking (breakdance) and martial arts. Hope is what gives us direction. Passion is the wings beneath are feet. Anything is possible despite the obstacles we may face. Just keep moving forward, and you will surely reach a better place. Karate, Anthony.
