Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dear Mr. S. Harris, Ignore the blob of red in the top left corner. It's jam, not blood, though I don't think I need to tell you the difference. It wasn't your wife's jam the police found on your shoe. . . . I know what it's like. Mine wasn't a woman. Mine was a boy. And I killed him exactly three months ago. Zoe has an unconventional pen pal--Mr. Stuart Harris, a Texas Death Row inmate and convicted murderer. But then again, Zoe has an unconventional story to tell. A story about how she fell for two boys, betrayed one of them, and killed the other. Hidden away in her backyard shed in the middle of the night with a jam sandwich in one hand and a pen in the other, Zoe gives a voice to her heart and her fears after months of silence. Mr. Harris may never respond to Zoe's letters, but at least somebody will know her story--somebody who knows what it's like to kill a person you love. Only through her unusual confession can Zoe hope to atone for her mistakes that have torn lives apart, and work to put her own life back together again. Rising literary star Annabel Pitcher pens a captivating second novel, rich with her distinctive balance between humor and heart. Annabel explores the themes of first love, guilt, and grief, introducing a character with a witty voice and true emotional resonance.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lauren Graham was three weeks away from turning twenty-one-loving college life, her friends, and her family-when her life was turned upside down and changed forever. She was diagnosed with cancer-specifically, with acute lymphoblastic lymphoma. In her memoir, Lauren considers the everyday life of a cancer patient and recalls all the challenges she experienced with humor and brutal honesty. Her unique storytelling, presented through the e-mails that she wrote over the course of nearly three years of cancer treatments, provides an intimate window into her struggle with cancer. Week by week, month by month, and treatment by treatment, she shares her journey and experiences in group e-mails to family and friends with wit, fear, stubbornness, faith, and candor. After recounting the procedures, tests, and general medical things she experienced, she ends each e-mail with several wonderful quotes, which offer as much solace to her as they would to those reading her e-mails. Seriously-Cancer? I Do Not Have Time for This! tells a true story of inspiration for anyone who is facing illness or difficulties in life. "Lauren is a real trooper who viewed her cancer treatment in such a positive, relatable, inspiring, and hilarious perspective. ...This book is a must read for all young adults battling cancer, for healthcare providers, and for families and friends supporting their loved ones during their treatment." -Brenda Muriera-Noggy, senior research nurse, Leukemia/Lymphoma Department, Division of Pediatrics, UT MD Anderson Cancer Center

Book Ink in My Veins

Download or read book Ink in My Veins written by S. Nihal Singh and published by Hay House, Inc. This book was released on 2011-08-01 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A never-say-die journalist’s life story with an in-depth analysis of crucial historical events, fascinating anecdotes about the high and mighty, revealing behind-the-scenes events and a bouquet of delightful snippets . . .This book traces one man’s journey stretching from the time of Jawaharlal Nehru to the Manmohan Singh era. As a journalist, S. Nihal Singh had a ringside seat in observing and analysing important developments in India and the world: The 1969 split in the Congress, with Indira Gandhi emerging victorious; the Emergency imposed by her in June 1975, her downfall, her phoenix-like rise and her assassination; the game of musical chairs with the Congress as music master as prime ministers came and went in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s; the tempestuous relations between India and Pakistan; the 1991 Gulf war; and the litany of scams that have buffeted the Manmohan Singh Government. The scandals facing the government had been long in the making, but they illuminate features like the erosion of the country’s once-famed administrative structure, the rise of corruption in an increasingly consumer-oriented acquisitive society, the democratization of polity by the inclusion of hitherto excluded sections and the decline of the mother Congress Party. The Manmohan Singh–Sonia Gandhi harness in a two-horse tonga became necessary because Sonia’s so-called foreign birth turned into a major political controversy. The scandals, and the Bharatiya Janata Party’s desire to milk them, merely accentuated the problems of a prime minister without the politician’s ability to tame events while his co-ruler, the party president, became the recognized power centre. Over the decades, editing two major Indian newspapers (The Statesman and the Indian Express) and Dubai’s Khaleej Times ensured a varied and eventful life with never a dull moment. Outside his home country, Nihal Singh was a witness to dramatic events in South-east Asia, Eastern and Western Europe and the United States. His tour of duty also took him to Moscow, where he rubbed the Soviets the wrong way.

Book Hippie Bob the Chocolate Factory

Download or read book Hippie Bob the Chocolate Factory written by Hippie Bob and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2009-03 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication reflects upon a multitude of themes: relationships, daily occurrences in life, friends, society, and history. The author has tried to present the emotional feelings of both sides in the various stages of relationship development. Men and women ultimately fail to bring possible relationships into the realm of positive development because of false perceptions they assume about the other person. Both sides are afraid to openly communicate thus destroying possible relationships in their embryonic stages of development. Daily occurrences of life affect all of us at one time or another. Every time our routine is affected, our schedule is thrown off center; our emotional makeup creates stressful overtones for those we come in contact with. Some of these situations we recover from quickly; some of them linger in the back of our mind for extended periods of time. Friends have a profound effect upon our life style. Just when we feel we know someone very well they take their behavior mode in a new direction causing us confusion while planting the seeds of doubt in our relationship. Some of these situations are corrected through open diologue; some are destined to remain as we remember them during the last visual contact with this person. Thus all of us at one time or another want to "Turn Back The Clock" and do some repair work. Leaving our house in the morning we come in contact with strangers. Depending upon circumstances once in a while our paths cross as we develop contact. Some assumptions of others are pleasant and grow with the passage of time. Others are ill fated through bad vibrations at the start and have to be severed as soon as possible for our own personal well being. Each of us has a personal history to reflect upon in our memory bank. Thoughts upon family, the town or city where we grew up, a special someone whom we lost contact with all enter into our thoughts from time to time. Again pleasantness and sadness come together as we reflect upon what is and what might have been.
