Book Innovative Computational Intelligence A Rough Guide to 134 Clever Algorithms

Download or read book Innovative Computational Intelligence A Rough Guide to 134 Clever Algorithms written by Bo Xing and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-13 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first notable feature of this book is its innovation: Computational intelligence (CI), a fast evolving area, is currently attracting lots of researchers’ attention in dealing with many complex problems. At present, there are quite a lot competing books existing in the market. Nevertheless, the present book is markedly different from the existing books in that it presents new paradigms of CI that have rarely mentioned before, as opposed to the traditional CI techniques or methodologies employed in other books. During the past decade, a number of new CI algorithms are proposed. Unfortunately, they spread in a number of unrelated publishing directions which may hamper the use of such published resources. These provide us with motivation to analyze the existing research for categorizing and synthesizing it in a meaningful manner. The mission of this book is really important since those algorithms are going to be a new revolution in computer science. We hope it will stimulate the readers to make novel contributions or even start a new paradigm based on nature phenomena. Although structured as a textbook, the book's straightforward, self-contained style will also appeal to a wide audience of professionals, researchers and independent learners. We believe that the book will be instrumental in initiating an integrated approach to complex problems by allowing cross-fertilization of design principles from different design philosophies. The second feature of this book is its comprehensiveness: Through an extensive literature research, there are 134 innovative CI algorithms covered in this book.

Download or read book Algebraic Systems written by Anatolij Ivanovic Mal'cev and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As far back as the 1920's, algebra had been accepted as the science studying the properties of sets on which there is defined a particular system of operations. However up until the forties the overwhelming majority of algebraists were investigating merely a few kinds of algebraic structures. These were primarily groups, rings and lattices. The first general theoretical work dealing with arbitrary sets with arbitrary operations is due to G. Birkhoff (1935). During these same years, A. Tarski published an important paper in which he formulated the basic prin ciples of a theory of sets equipped with a system of relations. Such sets are now called models. In contrast to algebra, model theory made abun dant use of the apparatus of mathematical logic. The possibility of making fruitful use of logic not only to study universal algebras but also the more classical parts of algebra such as group theory was dis covered by the author in 1936. During the next twenty-five years, it gradually became clear that the theory of universal algebras and model theory are very intimately related despite a certain difference in the nature of their problems. And it is therefore meaningful to speak of a single theory of algebraic systems dealing with sets on which there is defined a series of operations and relations (algebraic systems). The formal apparatus of the theory is the language of the so-called applied predicate calculus. Thus the theory can be considered to border on logic and algebra.

Book Internal Combustion Engines

Download or read book Internal Combustion Engines written by Allan T. Kirkpatrick and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-11-23 with total page 660 pages. Each chapter includes MATLAB programs and examples showing how to perform detailed engineering computations. The chapters also have an increased number of homework problems with which the reader can gauge their progress and retention. All the software is ‘open source’ so that readers can see in detail how computational analysis and the design of engines is performed. A companion website is also provided, offering access to the MATLAB computer programs.

Book Artemis

  • Author : Stephanie Lynn Budin
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2015-06-26
  • ISBN : 131744888X
  • Pages : 201 pages

Download or read book Artemis written by Stephanie Lynn Budin and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-06-26 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Artemis is a literary, iconographic, and archaeological study of the ancient Greek goddess of the hunt, who presided over the transitions and mediations between the wild and the civilized, youth and maturity, life and death. Beginning with a study of the early origins of Artemis and her cult in the Bronze and Archaic Ages, Budin explores the goddess' persona and her role in the lives of her worshippers. This volume examines her birth and childhood, her place in the divine family, her virginity, and her associations with those places where the wilds become the "cities of just men." The focus then turns to Artemis’ role in the lives of children and women, particularly how she helps them navigate the transition to adulthood and, perhaps too often, death. Budin goes on to reconsider some of the more harrowing aspects of Artemis’ mythology, such as plague and bloodshed, while also examining some of her kinder, oft overlooked associations. Finally, the role of Artemis in the Renaissance and modern society is addressed, from the on-going fascination with the "breasts" on the statue of Artemis of Ephesos to the Artemisian aspects of Katniss Everdeen. Written in an accessible style, Artemis is a crucial resource for students not only of Greek myth, religion and cult, but also those seeking to understand the lives and roles of girls and women in ancient Greece, as this goddess presided over their significant milestones, from maiden to wife to mother.

Book Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics

Download or read book Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics written by Vedat Batu and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-05-27 with total page 1269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics: Illustrative Worked Examples of Surface and Subsurface Flows presents the basic principles of fluid mechanics through the use of numerous worked examples. Some readers may have interest only in the application parts of various principles without paying too much attention to the derivation details of equations. Other readers may have interest both in derivation details and their applications. As a result, this book is designed to address both needs, and most derivation details are included as example problems. Therefore, those who are not interested in the details of derivations may skip them without interrupting the effective use of the book. It serves as an effective learning source for college students and as a teaching tool for instructors (with an included solutions manual), as well as for practicing professionals in the areas of fluid mechanics and hydraulics.
