Book Jo Crepain architect 73 03

Download or read book Jo Crepain architect 73 03 written by Max Borka and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 1974, when his very first built house, which he designed as a student, was honored with the most important Belgian architecture award, Jo Crepain has developed an impressive body of work. Most of these structures can be found in Belgium, especially the earlier ones; later assignments have ranged throughout the Netherlands. The large diversity and continuous innovation evident in his architectural oeuvre can be understood as a consequence of an incessant search--and one which has yielded some of the most striking structures in recent Belgian architectural history. For Crepain, building is in the first place a psychological phenomenon, and a house is the last place left on earth where we can hope to recover a piece of paradise lost--not only for an elite few, but for as many people as possible. This hefty monograph considers a lifetime of work, from 1973 to 2003, presenting dozens of individual projects through textual descriptions, photographs, and floor plans, as well as extended essays on different periods of Crepain's output. Text in English and Dutch 1200 colour illustrations

Book Digital Personalized Health and Medicine

Download or read book Digital Personalized Health and Medicine written by L.B. Pape-Haugaard and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2020-06-17 with total page 1498 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digital health and medical informatics have grown in importance in recent years, and have now become central to the provision of effective healthcare around the world. This book presents the proceedings of the 30th Medical Informatics Europe conference (MIE). This edition of the conference, hosted by the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI) since the 1970s, was due to be held in Geneva, Switzerland in April 2020, but as a result of measures to prevent the spread of the Covid19 pandemic, the conference itself had to be cancelled. Nevertheless, because this collection of papers offers a wealth of knowledge and experience across the full spectrum of digital health and medicine, it was decided to publish the submissions accepted in the review process and confirmed by the Scientific Program Committee for publication, and these are published here as planned. The 232 papers are themed under 6 section headings: biomedical data, tools and methods; supporting care delivery; health and prevention; precision medicine and public health; human factors and citizen centered digital health; and ethics, legal and societal aspects. A 7th section deals with the Swiss personalized health network, and section 8 includes the 125 posters accepted for the conference. Offering an overview of current trends and developments in digital health and medical informatics, the book provides a valuable information resource for researchers and health practitioners alike.

Download or read book New Tribal Labyrinth written by Dominic van den Boogerd and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New Tribal Labyrinth offers a survey of works from the eponymous ongoing project by Atelier Van Lieshout, the internationally recognized studio of Dutch artist Joep van Lieshout. This publication reflects on our extremely advanced and complex society, in which over-consumption and limited raw materials play a crucial role. In Atelier Van Lieshout's vision, this will lead to conflict and the subsequent emergence of a new world order, with groups of people organizing themselves in tribes instead of nation-states. This new tribal world will see a return to farming and industry--which currently both have been banished from our society--and a re-establishment of our relationship with materials which now has been lost. The book--published in collaboration with GRIMM gallery--is richly illustrated, showcasing not only the finished works of the artist but also how some of the pieces were made by van Lieshout and his team in their Rotterdam studio. Joep van Lieshout lives and works in Rotterdam. Since the early 1980s, he has produced objects primarily in brightly colored polyester, the material that would become his trademark in subsequent years. Over the years he has gained international recognition for objects that balance on the boundary between art, architecture, and design. These works of art are practical, uncomplicated, and substantial. Recurring themes in the work of van Lieshout are autarky, power, politics, and the more classical themes of life and death.
