AUJOURD'HUI, LA REALITE APPARAIT TOUT AUTRE. LES TRANSPORTS EN COMMUN, HIER SALVATEURS SONT DEVENUS AUJOURD'HUI, LE POINT DE CONGESTION DES AIGREURS D'UNE PARTIE DE LA JEUNESSE DES BANLIEUES. TOUT SE PASSE COMME SI UNEDISTANCE SYMBOLIQUE SEMBLAIT S'INSTALLER ET DONNER NAISSANCE A UNE FRONTIERE DE PLUS EN PLUS INFRANCHISSABLE. D'UN COTE LES "NANTIS" DU CENTRE-VILLE, DE L'AUTRE DES JEUNES BANLIEUSARDS QUI CONTRAINTS A L'IMMOBILITE, PARTENT A L'ASSAUT DE TOUT CE QUI VIENT DE 1' "AUTRE MONDE". EN EXPLORANT CE PHENOMENE DE MISE A DISTANCE DE CERTAINS QUARTIERS PERIPHERIQUES, IL EST PEUT-ETRE POSSIBLE DE RENDRE COMPTE QU'UN FOSSE CULTUREL ET SYMBOLIQUE SE CREUSE ENTRE CENTRE-VILLE ET BANLIEUE ET CE, MALGRE LES TENTATIVES ACTUELLES DE DIVERS ACTEURS SOCIAUX. BIEN SUR, RIEN N'AUTORISE A TENIR UN DISCOURS UNIQUE ET GLOBAL SUR CES PHENOMENES MAIS L'ETUDE DES CONDITIONS DE MOBILITE D'UNE PARTIE DE LA JEUNESSE PEUT RENDRE COMPTE DES RAPPORTS QU'ENTRETIENNENT EXCLUSION ET ESPACE. LES DESIRS D'INSERTION SERAIENT DONC BIEN REELS MAIS CONTRECARRES PAR DIVERS DETERMINANTS QU'IL CONVIENT DE METTRE AU JOUR. L'ANALYSE DES DISCOURS SUR L'USAGE DE L'ESPACE RENDENT COMPTE DE CETTE DIFFICULTE. ALORS, "EN SORTIR" POUR "S'EN SORTIR"?

This book was released on 2004-01-01 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication examines the issue of social cohesion as it relates to young people living in urban environments. There are two major reports on violence and social exclusion: the first looks at these issues in a European context, taking account of the extent and causes of urban deprivation, and how this links to youth violence. The second report concentrates on the UK, and on the social transition from a welfare state to a stakeholder/welfare society. Both reports look at issues of crime prevention, youth employment, projects for training initiatives, and urban design processes. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Urban Mobility Systems in the World provides insight into the geographical organization of urban mobility systems around the world. These “systems” consist of infrastructure networks, existing transport services and people’s travel practices. Adopting a comparative approach, the book highlights the geographical diversity of mobility systems, based on case studies from Africa, North and South America, Asia and Europe. This multi-disciplinary book is organized into twelve chapters, divided into four parts. The first part gives an overview of urban mobility, and then examines the factors that determine everyday mobility in cities, revealing different travel practices among populations (poor, elderly and children). Parts 2 and 3, respectively, focus on urban public transport (trains, metros, minibuses) and active modes of transport (walking, cycling), and the related infrastructure policies. The final section examines the circulation of urban mobility analysis tools and public policy models

Book Les territoires de l insertion

Download or read book Les territoires de l insertion written by Chantal Guérin and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 1996 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book The Anthropology of Africa Challenges for the 21st Century

Download or read book The Anthropology of Africa Challenges for the 21st Century written by Nkwi, Paul Nchoji and published by Langaa RPCIG. This book was released on 2015-02-03 with total page 656 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1999 (August 30 - September 2) the Pan African Anthropological Association (PAAA) marked the 10th anniversary of its creation by holding its 9th Annual Conference in Yaounde, Cameroon - the city and country of its birth. The conference, themed "The Anthropology of Africa: Challenges for the 21st Century", was attended by some seventy participants, mostly African. Among the international participants was Dr Sydel Silverman, President of the Wenner Gren Foundation at the time - a long term partner of the PAAA; she was present at the inaugural conference in 1988. The conference proceedings were initially published in 2000 with very limited circulation. Given the continued relevance of the papers presented, and in view of the call by the President of the PAAA for African anthropologists to reunite anthropological theory and practice in the teaching programmes of African universities, the PAAA is pleased to republish the proceedings of its landmark 9th Annual Conference. The book consists of forty three divided into eight parts, namely: i) teaching anthropology in the decades ahead; ii) Health Challenges: HIV/AIDS Anthropological Perspectives; iii) NGOS: Use and Misuse of Anthropology; iv) Anthropological Focus on Environment; v) Some Applied Issues in Anthropology; vi) The African Family in Crisis; vii) Ethnicity and Ethnic Conflicts; and viii) Population issues and anthropology: Fertility Crisis. Paul Nkwi concludes his introduction to the volume with these words: "The Anthropology of Africa will remain for a long time, fundamentally applied if it is to meet the challenges of the 21st Century."

Book Identity and Dialect Performance

Download or read book Identity and Dialect Performance written by Reem Bassiouney and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-10-24 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Identity and Dialect Performance discusses the relationship between identity and dialects. It starts from the assumption that the use of dialect is not just a product of social and demographic factors, but can also be an intentional performance of identity. Dialect performance is related to identity construction and in a highly globalised world, the linguistic repertoire has increased rapidly, thereby changing our conventional assumptions about dialects and their usage. The key outstanding feature of this particular book is that it spans an extensive range of communities and dialects; Italy, Hong Kong, Morocco, Egypt, Syria, Japan, Germany, The Sudan, The Netherlands, Nigeria, Spain, US, UK, French Guiana, Colombia, and Libya.

Book Les utopies de la ville

Download or read book Les utopies de la ville written by Yvette Marin and published by Presses Univ. Franche-Comté. This book was released on 2001 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Children and Youth in the Labour Process in Africa

Download or read book Children and Youth in the Labour Process in Africa written by Osita Agbu and published by African Books Collective. This book was released on 2009-10-15 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is increasingly clear that children and the youth today play a significant role in the labour process in Africa. But, to what extent is this role benign? And when and why does this role become exploitative rather than beneficial? This book on children and the youth in Africa sets out to address these questions. The book observes that in Africa today, children are under pressure to work, often engaged in the worst forms of child labour and therefore not living out their role as children. It argues that the social and economic environment of the African child is markedly different from what occurs elsewhere, and goes further to challenge all factors that have combined in stripping children of their childhood and turning them into instruments and commodities in the labour process. It also explains the sources, dynamics, magnitude and likely consequences of the exploitation of children and the youth in contemporary Africa. The book is an invaluable contribution to the discourse on children, while the case studies are aimed at creating more awareness about the development problems of children and the youth in Africa, with a view to evolving more effective national and global responses.

The contributions inform on the statutes and functions of the youth languages of Africa, their forms and structures, their representations, and envisage perspectives and prospective didactics.
