Book Jesus The Perfect Man in Whom Dwells the Fullness of God

Download or read book Jesus The Perfect Man in Whom Dwells the Fullness of God written by Jim Taylor and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2015-05-20 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus said, “And this is life eternal, that they should know thee the only true God, and him whom thou didst send, even Jesus Christ” (John 17:3). But the question is, how is it possible to know God? How can we know someone who is infinite and eternal when we cannot see him, feel him, hear him, or sense his presence? We see clearly from the creation that there is a God, or else this world could not exist (Romans 1:20). We know from the Bible that God is a loving Father who is the Creator of all things. But there is a way we can know God more intimately and more perfectly. We can know God by knowing his Son, the very one whom God sent to us as the Savior and redeemer of this lost world—his name is Jesus, and he is the Almighty Jehovah God himself. We can know Jesus intimately as our best friend (John 15:15), and our brother (Hebrews 2:11–14), and our Father (Isaiah 9:6–7; John 10:30, 14:6–11), because even though he is God, he became one of us exactly, a man, just like all other men (Hebrews 2:14–18). He lived in this present world exactly as we live in it. So whatever we learn by studying Jesus, his teachings, and his life, we are learning about our loving Father, our God, and our Creator.

Book excerpt: The author of Desiring God reveals the biblical evidence to help us see and savor what the pleasures of God show us about Him. Includes a study guide for individual and small-group use. Isn’t it true—we really don’t know someone until we understand what makes that person happy? And so it is with God! What does bring delight to the happiest Being in the universe? John Piper writes, that it’s only when we know what makes God glad that we’ll know the greatness of His glory. Therefore, we must comprehend “the pleasures of God.” Unlike so much of what is written today, this is not a book about us. It is about the One we were made for—God Himself. In this theological masterpiece—chosen by World Magazine as one of the 20th Century’s top 100 books, John Piper reveals the biblical evidence to help us see and savor what the pleasures of God show us about Him. Then we will be able to drink deeply—and satisfyingly—from the only well that offers living water. What followers of Jesus need now, more than anything else, is to know and love—behold and embrace—the great, glorious, sovereign, happy God of the Bible. “This is a unique and precious book that everybody should read more than once.” —J.I. PACKER, Regent College, Vancouver, British Columbia

Book Seeing and savouring Jesus Christ

Download or read book Seeing and savouring Jesus Christ written by JOHN PIPER and published by Inter-Varsity Press. This book was released on 2020-05-21 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who is Jesus Christ? You've never met Him in person, and you don't know anyone who has. But there is a way to know who he is. How? Jesus Christ - the divine Person revealed in the Bible - has a unique excellence and a spiritual beauty that speaks directly to our souls and says, "Yes, this is truth." It's like seeing the sun and knowing that it is light, or tasting honey and knowing that it is sweet. The depth and complexity of Jesus shatter our simple mental frameworks. He baffled proud scribes with his wisdom but was understood and loved by children. He calmed a raging storm with a word but would not get himself down from the cross. Look at the Jesus of the Bible. Keep your eyes open, and fill them with the portrait of Jesus in God's Word. Jesus said, "If anyone's will is to do God's will, He will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority." Ask God for the grace to do His will, and you will see the truth of His Son. John Piper has written this book in the hope that all will see Jesus for who he really is and will come to enjoy him above all else.

Book The Image of God and the Perfect Man

Download or read book The Image of God and the Perfect Man written by Charles L. Hill and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2008-05 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My book, "The Image of God and the Perfect Man" does not consist of only one perfect man or woman, but it comprises a society of people. A city of people, who is set on a hill and cannot be hidden. A nation, a state, a city, whose builder and maker is God. Where holiness unto the Lord is, "The Image of God and the Perfect Man" is also relating to a free society. Where there is no dictatorship of sin mastering or controlling your life. A nation of people who believes that all things are possible through Jesus Christ who strengthens them. A society of people who believes in overcoming sin while yet living in this present world. After you have received the power of the holy ghost in your life. If you can recall, John the baptist is the one who said behold the lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world. Now if Christ have taken away the sin of the world, than why are we still continuing therein. He has taken away the very nature of sin because he intended for us to live in a world that is free from sin. So that you and I can be happy. It is sin that causes us to be unhappy, dissatisfied with ourselves, and with others. It does not matter how much money we have or how many Grammys you have won. Without Jesus Christ in your life, you will never reach the full potential of true happiness. The image of God and the perfect man is a nation of people within a nation. The nation of Jesus Christ, where you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.

Book Leviticus Unveiled and Revealed

Download or read book Leviticus Unveiled and Revealed written by Jim Taylor and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2016-06-28 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are many who feel that Leviticus is a dry, dull, and boring book. That is not so. The gospel is the life, the teachings, and the cross of Jesus, the Son of God. The only way that a person in this present age can have the forgiveness of sin and peace with God is through the gospel of Jesus the Son of God. The gospel is not dull and boring. It is the most read, the most cherished, the most translated, and the most published literature in the entire world. However, the Law of Moses, and the Levitical sacrifices that were part of that law, was the gospel of the Israelites. It was through the Law of Moses and the Levitical sacrifices that a person who lived before Christ could have the forgiveness of sin and peace with God, and therefore it cannot be dull and boring. This book is intended to make the book of Leviticus a living book and a very interesting Bible study. It will open up the Levitical letter and make it interesting by making it easy to understand. The book itself is easy to read and understand. It is written in a way that is quite reasonablein other words, it just makes sense. The purpose of this book is to give a portrayal of the Levitical sacrificial system, what the sacrifices meant to the worshipper who offered them, their purpose, what they accomplished, how God viewed them, and how they were fulfilled in Christ. That is all accomplished by very careful scriptural references that establish the points that are made in the book. When a person understands why there were so many different sacrifices such as the burnt offering, the meal offering, the peace offering, the guilt offering, the sin offering, the trespass offering, and othersand then he sees that each one of those sacrifices served a different purpose and they were all fulfilled in Christ is different ways, Leviticus becomes a book that you just cannot put down.

Book Revelation to John S Apocalypse Unveiled and Revealed

Download or read book Revelation to John S Apocalypse Unveiled and Revealed written by Jim Taylor and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2017-02-07 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are many people, even Christians, who will not read John’s revelation letter for two reasons. First, they don’t believe that it can be understood. Second, they are terrified of even thinking about reading of the deadly judgments of God that John’s revelation letter portrays—that is, the appalling plagues, famines, wars, and natural disasters that John’s letter discloses as having been pronounced against this present evil world, and they don’t want to be any part of that, nor do they even want to be reminded of those dreadful things that they think are going to happen. Such is so sad, so very sad! One of the purposes of this book is to alleviate that fear completely, and to replace it by making the reading of John’s revelation letter a time of comfort and encouragement. That shall all be accomplished by illustrating how the deadly forces of destruction that John described in his revelation letter are not decreed against the Christians—they will never fall upon God’s church—but rather, they are in fact, the very powers of God that protect his church, shelter his children, and defend the Christian faith. All of that can be established by comparing the spiritual war that John witnessed in heaven with the carnal war that was fought between the Roman Empire and the church. That comparison is not difficult to establish, because both of those wars were actually the one and the same war. Once that correlation has been confirmed, Revelation becomes a letter of comfort and security, and a letter that replaces fear with hope. Another reason that even Christians will not read John’s revelation letter is because they do not think that it can be understood because it is so complicated, but God does not put books in his Bible that cannot be understood. John’s revelation letter can be understood, and that is the other purpose of this book, to make it understandable.

Book Our Sufficiency in Christ

Download or read book Our Sufficiency in Christ written by John MacArthur and published by Crossway. This book was released on 1998-07-10 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christ's divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness. —2 Peter 1:3 Pure Christianity needs no embellishment whatsoever. We find complete sufficiency in Christ and His provision for our needs. But too many Christians have bought in to the notion that all the spiritual resources we gain at the moment of salvation are not adequate to meet the real needs in today's complex world. So they look for something more—an emotionally exciting and self-edifying experience not found in God's Word. This failure to understand the sufficiency of Christ has opened the door to all kinds of worldy influences, causing many modern believers to mix biblical truths with seemingly helpful man-made methods such as mysticism and psychology. As a result, they wallow in a watered-down, pseudo-Christanity that has been drained of its vitality, effectiveness, and security. In this book John MacArthur exposes the main ways Christians have displaced their spiritual resources and explains how to avoid making the same error. It will make you newly aware of how completely God provides—and give you a renewed understanding of what it means to be "complete in Christ."

Book excerpt: DISCOVER AFRESH THE BIBLICAL JESUS!Jesus Christ embodies God's glory and fullness. More than that, he is the only perfect man who has ever lived. But whereas his perfection is often taken for granted and regarded as a given, on the contrary it is a most stupendous achievement unparalleled in salvation history, for it was as a true man and not the trinitarian "God-man" that Jesus became perfect through suffering, obedience, and God's indwelling. He was consequently exalted to God's right hand as His supreme plenipotentiary, and given all authority in heaven and on earth. Hence the subtitle of the book, "The Glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ" (2Cor.4:6). This book is exegetical yet also devotional and inspirational. ALSO DISCUSSED: * Yahweh the only true God * The historical roots of trinitarianism * Jesus of the Bible versus Jesus of trinitarianism * The four pillars of trinitarianism (John 1, Colossians 1, Hebrews 1, Revelation 1) * Jesus as the "form of God" in Philippians 2 * The name above all names given to Jesus * Jesus' perfection as a model and inspiration to God's people * God's glory manifested in Jesus Christ, the perfect image of God.

Book Nature s Case for God

Book excerpt: Can we know anything about God apart from the Bible? Many Protestant Christians are suspicious of natural theology, which claims that we can learn about God through revelation outside the Bible. How can we know anything about God apart from Scripture? In Nature's Case for God, distinguished theologian John Frame argues that Christians are not forbidden from seeking to learn about God from his creation. In fact, the Bible itself shows this to be possible. In nine short and lucid chapters that include questions for discussion, Frame shows us what we can learn about God and how we relate to him from the world outside the Bible. If the heavens really do declare the glory of God, as the psalmist claims, it makes a huge difference for how we understand God and how we introduce him to those who don't yet know Christ.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Preaching's Preacher's Guide to the Best Bible Reference Paul's letters to the Philippians and Colossians celebrate the glory and supremacy of Jesus Christ and his saving work, a refrain that the reformers never grew tired of singing. While their tones are diverse, the clarity of their compositions and the power of their voices still reverberate today. Reformation commentators found the main themes of these Pauline letters deeply applicable to their circumstances, and volume editor Graham Tomlin urges that they are just as relevant to our own: Philippians overflows with thanksgiving in the midst of persecution and trials; Colossians defends the superiority of Jesus as Lord over all principalities and powers. For the Reformers as well as for Paul, all goodness and grace flows from Christ in whom "all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell" (Col 1:19), the Son who "made himself nothing" (Phil 2:7) in order to bring many daughters and sons to glory. This volume assembles a diverse chorus spanning place, time, and confessional differences: from Italian Reform-minded Catholic Gasparo Contarini and German Lutheran Martin Chemnitz, to Dutch Anabaptist Menno Simons, to French Reformed Theodore Beza and English Puritan Richard Sibbes. Scholars and pastors alike will find many fruitful insights from these and a number of other significant figures--most of whom enjoy fresh translations from the original, many for the first time in English.
