Book Jesus Spoke To Me THE BIBLE IS AN IDOL

Download or read book Jesus Spoke To Me THE BIBLE IS AN IDOL written by Harland Hay and published by . This book was released on 2021-05-30 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus spoke to me, "THE BIBLE IS AN IDOL" which completely changed my direction. I then only sought for Him in the Spirit; and He has taught me many things on life's journey. The most important of which is that He died so that we could be regenerated by the Holy Spirit into sons and daughters of God. The bible is a history book about God, a dead letter. The Gospel is simple, repent from living after the flesh, ask Jesus to fill you with the Holy Spirit and then be led by Jesus through the Spirit. Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law because we were unable to keep it. The Gospel is not written with ink, nor on tablets of stone, but on our hearts by the Spirit of the Living God. Download or read book How Not to Speak of God written by Peter, Rollins and published by Paraclete Press. This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With sensitivity to the Christian tradition and a rich understanding of postmodern thought, Peter Rollins argues that the movement known as the “emerging church” offers a singular, unprecedented message of transformation that has the potential to revolutionize the theological and moral architecture of Western Christianity. How (not) to Speak of God sets out to explore the theory and praxis of this contemporary expression of faith. Rollins offers a clear exploration of this embryonic movement and provides key resources for those involved in communities that are conversant with, and seeking to minister effectively to, the needs of a postmodern world. “Here in pregnant bud is the rose, the emerging new configuration, of a Christianity that is neither Roman nor Protestant, neither Eastern nor monastic; but rather is the re-formation of all of them. Here, in pregnant bud, is third-millennium Christendom.” —Phyllis Tickle “I am a raving fan of the book you are holding. I loved reading it. I have already begun widely recommending it. Reading it did good for my mind and for my soul. It helped me understand my own spiritual journey more clearly, and it gave me a sense of context for the work I’m involved in. In fact, I would say this is one of the two or three most rewarding books of theology I have read in ten years.” —Brian McLaren, from the Foreword

Download or read book Misfit Table written by Tiffini Kilgore and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2019-02-05 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Too often the world speaks words of harm, and too often we believe them--and so we live stories God never intended for us. Yet God longs to rewrite and redeem your story. Tiffini Kilgore, founder of the lifestyle and design boutique House of Belonging, grew up in a broken home before marrying at the tender age of sixteen. Years later, divorced and with three small children, she remarried. The seasons that followed brought two more children, another broken marriage, chronic disease, major surgeries, and cycles of abuse--leaving Tiffini feeling alone and unloved. Hungry for healing and a safe space, Tiffini began seeking Jesus through journaling and soon found bread crumbs of grace leading her down a new path. There, she found a rich table set for misfits just like her--a place of nourishment and restoration. Where she was fed lies of worthlessness, God fed her truth that she was his treasured daughter. Where she was told she was a helpless victim, God offered her the cup of his strength. Where she once held an empty future, God gave her hope and a fresh start. In cultivating an ongoing dialogue with her Abba Father, God transformed Tiffini's pain into passion, and ultimately, fierce belonging. Tiffini writes as a modern-day mystic, with lyrical force and deep tending of the soul, in this book for anyone who has ever felt out of place or at odds in the world. Each chapter features compelling narrative as well as a poignant response from "Papa" God as Tiffini calls him, and the result is a stirring invitation to come home to where you belong. Come and sit, take and eat, and join the battle cry to take God at his word.

Book excerpt: The issue of idolatry has been with the human race for thousands of years; the subtle temptation is always to take what is good and turn it into the ultimate good, elevating it above all other things in the search for security and meaning. In this timely and challenging book, New York pastor Timothy Keller looks at the issue of idolatry throughout the Bible -- from the worship of actual idols in the Old Testament, to the idolatry of money by the rich young ruler when he was challenged by Jesus to give up all his wealth. Using classic stories from the Bible Keller cuts through our dependence on the glittering false idols of money, sex and power to uncover the path towards trust in the real ultimate -- God. Today's idols may look different from those of the Old Testament, but Keller argues that they are no less damaging. Culturally transforming as well as biblically based, COUNTERFEIT GODS is a powerful look at the temptation to worship what can only disappoint, and is a vital message in today's current climate of financial and social difficulty.

Book God Is Speaking Are You Listening

Download or read book God Is Speaking Are You Listening written by Steven W. Raasumaa and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2002 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In July 1998, GOD approached a man, to assist GOD and channel his will into the written word. This book is the result of that conversation. GOD is responsible for the flow, topics and discussions. The man simply wrote what GOD spoke and what thoughts he received. "GOD is speaking - Are you listening? My Story" is GOD'S full disclosure to his human family, including his laws of Life and Death. He speaks to Steve as a friend. That is, a friend of GOD'S, chosen by GOD. The fact that anyone would be allowed to hear his voice is astonishing. In this day and age of miracles, is it so far fetched not to believe? He speaks to Steve of his world...Heaven. He speaks of his Love for his human family. GOD tells it like he sees it. No soft touch, no political correctness, just the plain truth, GOD'S Truth. July 5th 1998 4:00 P.M. I AM the GOD of ALL. The reason for this writing is that the stories I AM about to unfold to you, through my friend Steve, are stories to teach, inspire and to create hope. Hope, in that when you greet me in my Heavenly Kingdom, you will have a better understanding, appreciation and moral imperatives, necessary to the alleviation of your guilt. I AM in the world as a spirit of Love, hope, divine inspiration and most of all understanding. I have tried to conquer you, and your fears, by sending messengers to your world, Moses, Abraham, Isaac and Jesus the Christ. I have been alive 50 million of your Earth years and the stories I AM about to tell you are just one of many, told countless times in my Kingdom.

Book Worshipping the One True God

Download or read book Worshipping the One True God written by Keith Daniels and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2007-11 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Worshipping the One True God Human nature has changed very little over the centuries. Overtime men have forsaken God's ways and created their own ways to worship God. Instead of creating idols made by hands they create idols with their imaginations. Jesus Christ, in his time, was at constant loggerheads with the religious leaders of his time. Most of them thought that they had all the right answers. Most of them believed that they did not need Jesus' ministry. He became a stumble stone and a rock of offense to them. Man's way is never God's way. God has desired a family who will listen to him, believe him and do his will. Each member of God's family is important and has a special purpose in the body of Christ. Each member is endued with power from on high and can perform signs, miracles and wonders. While attending the University of Rhode Island in the middle 1970's the author encountered a group of Christian students the introduced him to God's Word. He took several biblical classes with this group. Over the following thirty-two years he has taken several more from various groups. He has run bible fellowships in his home over the years. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New York at Albany. He currently is a middle school teacher in Rhode Island. He and his wife, Diana, have nine-year old triplets and they run a family fellowship in their home. The author continues to study and is working on his second book, "As for Me and My House, We Will Serve The Lord."

Download or read book Jesus Is God written by Cary Glenn and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2020-11-23 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am a simple man writing an unbiased look at one of the Bibles’ hottest topics; Is Jesus God? I give you the simple facts, plain Scripture, and a straight forward view of what is being said in the Bible minus any religious mumbo-jumbo. You will be taken around the Bible to see where Scripture talks about the topic of Jesus being God. I researched, studied, and prayed about what I was finding over a five year period. This book is what has come from that painstaking adventure. I grew up in a Baptist church. I have not attended any traditional schooling for Biblical learning and have not been trained by any theological professors so my mind has not been tainted to their views. Scripture says that you don’t need anyone to teach you the Word, the Holy Spirit will lead you to it. What you get from me is what the Holy Spirit and I have found together.
