Download or read book Namikoshi Shiatsu Offical Technique written by Shigeru Onoda and published by Aze Shiatsu Editorial. This book was released on 2017-09-13 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the beginning of 20th Century, Tokujiro Namikoshi blended the wisdom of traditional Japanese massage with the bio-energetic principles of Chinese medicine and modern Western medicine's knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology. Presenting the results of his own research and discoveries, he created SHIATSU as an innovative discipline of hands-on massage therapy based on finger pressure. It is a term derived from the Japanese words 'shi' and 'atsu' meaning finger and pressure respectively. Since the fingers of the human hand have a greater number of sensory receptors than other regions of the body, they are extremely sensitive to contact. For this reason, the use of specialized machinery or conventional massage tools were excluded from SHIATSU's techniques, and even using other parts of the therapist's body is disapproved of; such as the fists or elbows, in order to concentrate on finger pressure as the therapy's primary tool.

Book The Art of Jin Shin

Download or read book The Art of Jin Shin written by Alexis Brink and published by Tiller Press. This book was released on 2019-06-25 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Balance your body, mind, and spirit and heal yourself with your own hands using this clear, step-by-step illustrated guide to the practice of the ancient Japanese healing art of Jin Shin—written by a trained expert with nearly three decades of experience. You might be surprised to learn that the majority of today’s most common ailments including anxiety, backaches, colds and flu, digestive issues, immune disorders, migraines, and insomnia, can be alleviated naturally by restoring and harmonizing blocked, stagnant energy. The art of Jin Shin, based on the Japanese healing art of energy medicine, is practiced throughout the world. While related to acupressure and massage therapy, this holistic practice uses only minimal pressure and gentle touching with the fingers and hands to redirect or unblock the flow of energy along the body’s fifty-two points (twenty-six on each side of the body)—called Safety Energy Locations, or SELs—areas where energy tends to get congested. This simple, non-invasive process allows your body’s energy to flow smoothly, and with balance restored, you will experience a sense of wellbeing and calm. The Art of Jin Shin explains all the basics of this healing art and provides you with the knowledge you need to practice it on yourself—with exercises ranging from simply holding a finger for a few minutes to spending twenty minutes to harmonize a specific circulation pattern. Whether you desire a deeper understanding of the body/mind/spirit connection or want to create a daily Jin Shin maintenance routine the power is literally at your fingertips.

Book excerpt: Shiatsu, which literally means 'thumb and finger pressure', is a Japanese healing art that balances the body's structure and stimulates the body to regulate its systems, restoring mental and physical health. By targeting particular pressure points, a trained shiatsu therapist can effectively treat headache, whiplash, insomnia, hypertension, constipation, diarrhoea, asthma, menstrual irregularity, back pain, stiff neck and shoulders and other stress-related problems. Toronto shiatsu master Kensen Saito, founder of the Shiatsu Academy, has seen hundreds of people benefit from this natural therapy. In Shiatsu-Doh, he tells the fascinating story of how the way of shiatsu led him from Tokyo to Toronto to establish a clinic and teaching academy and dedicate his life to helping others to find inner balance and health.
