Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: William Janes (ca. 1610-1690) was born in Essex County, England. He and his wife, Mary, immigrated to America and settled first at Boston, Massachusetts. Eight months latter they migrated to New Haven, Connecticut. William and Mary Janes had eleven sons; only four married; the others died as infants or were killed by indians. The family moved to Northfield, Connecticut in 1651. Their sons, Benjamin Janes (b. 1672) and Samuel Janes, moved their families to Easthampton, Connecticut. The community was attacked by Indians in 1704. Samuel and his family were killed as were Benjamin's the four children. Benjamin managed to escape and went to Northamption for help. When he returned he found his wife, Hannah Edwards, had been scalped but was alive. Benjamin and Hannah moved to Coventry, Connecticut in 1712. They had six more children. Record chiefly follows line of descent to Adella Rachel Jones (1864-1948) of the eighth generation. She was born at Seward, Illinois. She married Frederick Dwight Teachout (1858-1937) in 1886. They had six children, 1888-1900. The family moved to Tallahoma, Tennessee, for six years, then retured to Rockford, Illinois. Descendants lived in Illinois, California and elsewhere.
