Book Lifestorming

Download or read book Lifestorming written by Alan Weiss and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-05-09 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revamp your life to grow, evolve, and become who you want to be Lifestorming is the indispensably practical handbook for becoming the person you want to be. Redesign your life, friends, behaviors, and beliefs to move closer to your goals every single day, guided by expert insight and deep introspection. Written by a veteran author team behind almost 100 books on human behavior, this guide helps you learn why you do things the way you do them, and how to do them better. The Lifestorming Test allows you to assess your current state in concrete terms, and assess your ability to change and adapt — from there, it's about identifying people, actions, habits, and beliefs that either support your personal and professional growth or hold you back. You'll learn the six building blocks of character, challenge your belief system, develop a leadership mindset, and overcome the fear and guilt of success. You'll map out an action plan, and learn how to continually move forward at work, at home, and in everyday life. We often don't realize how much of our natural default is established by others. Whose goals are you working toward? Are you measuring your progress with the correct yardstick? This book shows you how to take a step back and compare your life today with the future you want — and build a plan for changing track toward constant evolution and growth. Assess your current state and your capacity for change Develop the right goals and the right metrics to create the future you want Learn how character evolves, and why it's essential to growth Change your habits and behaviors to consistently grow and evolve We all carry around old baggage, obsolete "friendships", and counterproductive beliefs — and every day, they pull us a little further away from what we really want. Lifestorming is your real-world guide to shedding the stagnation, and allowing yourself to grow into the person you want to become.

Book Wouldn t You Love to Know

Download or read book Wouldn t You Love to Know written by Ian W. Payne and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2014-08-08 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With all the jumble of human disagreements, how can we know? Can the Christian church think coherently about knowledge? Can it regain confidence in teaching what it knows? In an increasingly divided and pessimistic postmodern world this book offers a theology for epistemology and for pedagogy that aims to be faithful and fruitful. Building on Karl Barth, it argues that God's knowing guides how humans know. We should imitate God's epistemic stance--his love--for that is the best model for knowing anything. The Trinitarian theme in Barth identifies three key concepts: committedness, openness, and relationality. These mean being committed and open towards what we wish to know. Relational open committedness also profoundly clarifies and shapes what love means in knowing and in teaching. This book unpacks an epistemology and pedagogy of love. Wouldn't you love to know?

Book Understanding Zora Neale Hurston s Their Eyes Were Watching God

Download or read book Understanding Zora Neale Hurston s Their Eyes Were Watching God written by Neal Lester and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 1999-10-30 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zora Neale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God highlights the vitality of African American culture. This casebook demonstrates how African Americans fashioned themselves individually and collectively to combat racism, classism, and sexism. With provocative documents that contextualize the complex issues of the novel, Lester provides an excellent resource for students and teachers first approaching the excitement and cultural flavor that define Hurston's novels. The casebook is an encyclopedia of African American folk culture that simultaneously presents historical, political, and social commentary on the relationships between men and women and between blacks and whites in America. Documents include interviews with people living in the South at the time of the novel's publication, poetry, rap, folktales, and sermons. Also included are original materials on ebonics, minstrel songs, the blues tradition, the novel in theatrical and dance performance, and materials on Hurston's hometown of Eatonville, Florida.

Book Immigration cap

Download or read book Immigration cap written by Great Britain: Parliament: House of Commons: Home Affairs Committee and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2010-11-03 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Government intends to place an immigration cap on non-EEA economic migrants to the UK. This is currently controlled through the points based system (PBS) under which those wishing to work or study in the UK must gain points for certain attributes in order to qualify for entry. The PBS consists of five tiers: Tier 1: Highly-skilled migrants; Tier 2: Skilled workers with a job offer; Tier 3: Low skilled workers (indefinitely suspended); Tier 4: Students; Tier 5: Temporary Workers and Youth Mobility (primarily non-economic routes). This report examines: the impact a cap would have on the ability of UK business and industries to recruit the skills and staff they require; the numbers of skilled and non-skilled migrants likely to be affected by a cap on Tiers 1 and 2; the impact and effectiveness of a 'first come, first served' or a pool system for highly skilled migrants under Tier 1; and of a 'first come, first served', a pool, or an auction, system for skilled migrants under Tier 2; whether and how intra-company transfers should be included in a cap; the implications of merging the Resident Labour Market Test and Shortage Occupation Lists; whether dependents should be included in the cap, and the effect of including them. Overall, the Committee believes a cap would make little difference to immigration unless it was set at virtually zero. There is a risk that a permanent cap could hamper businesses, prevent top-class international professionals from coming to the UK and damage the UK's ability to recruit the most distinguished scientists into universities.
