Download or read book ITALY from I to Y written by James De Franco and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2014-03-31 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The decision to write a book about my obersavtion of people and events in my life journey from my native Italy to Austraila was taken when coming out of my work life, I was suddenly made aware that the tools of literacy required were somewhat different from the tools of my trade where sharpness was essential as bluntness was for the book. I apologize on behalf of my tools while I defend the message they convey: I love both Italy and Austraila. But being born in a particular part of the world should not impede or curtail our criticism of it, man's history is a tragic testimony of that where sons and daughters have continued conflicts initiated by their fathers with their own criticism muted by the unquestioned love for the parent couple: Father-Land; thus sadly neglecting the apoltically stateless Mother-Nature.

Download or read book Regional Economic Outlook October 2011 Europe written by International Monetary Fund. European Dept. and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2011-10-05 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following a strong showing in early 2011, the economies across Europe now face the prospect of a pronounced slowdown, as global growth has softened, risk aversion has risen, and strains in Europe's sovereign debt and financial markets have deepened, according to this issue of the Regional Economic Outlook for Europe. Downside risks are significant, and a further deepening of the euro area crisis would affect not only advanced Europe, but also emerging Europe, given its tight economic and financial ties. The policy stance in advanced Europe will need to be adapted to reflect the weakening and tense outlook, financial systems strengthened further, and a consistent, cohesive and cooperative approach to monetary union adopted by all euro area stakeholders. The cross-country experience in the past decade in Europe shows the difference that good policies can make in boosting growth, with some European countries having grown rapidly while others have stagnated. Escaping low-growth traps, through broad-based reforms that address macroeconomic imbalances and country-specific structural rigidities, is possible.

This book was released on 2021-05-10 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Download or read book Education Abroad and the Undergraduate Experience written by Elizabeth Brewer and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-07-03 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Co-published with This volume focuses on two questions. First, how can education abroad be embedded into undergraduate education so that students experience it as an integral component of their education and something they help shape, rather than as time away from their education and as a commodity to be consumed? Second, how can colleges and universities maximize the educational value of education abroad by forging stronger connections between it and other undergraduate experiences? The volume argues that learning abroad be positioned within the work of the larger institution and students’ overall education.Organized within three sections, this volume makes the case that learning abroad must be positioned within the work of the larger institution and students’ overall education. In doing so, it questions many current assumptions and stimulates thinking about the power of an integrative approach to education abroad to lead to lasting educative value. An integrative approach requires that students be afforded multiple opportunities and ongoing support to draw connections with their learning abroad with other dimensions of their undergraduate education.Chapters cover topics such as the additive value of integrating multiple HIPs with education abroad to span disciplinary boundaries and promote an array of soft or operational skills; the importance of maintaining the disruptive quality of the encounter with the foreign to enrich study at home; issues of commodification and reciprocity; increasing access to study abroad to community college--particularly adult--populations; facilitating students’ social and intellectual development, identity formation, and reflective practice; rethinking orientation programming to emphasize the continuity of learning pre-, during- and post-education abroad; asking fundamental questions about the purpose of education abroad to rethink assessment and its purposes; the faculty role in the internationalization of the curriculum; and developing more intentional relationships with in-field partners and international educational organizations to more effectively connect leaning abroad with other dimensions of undergraduate education. For everyone involved in international education – whether SIOs, faculty, department chairs or deans – the critical questions and new perspectives offered here will inform and shape the growing movement to integrate education abroad with the overall undergraduate experience.
