Download or read book The Hoarder in You written by Robin Zasio and published by Rodale Books. This book was released on 2012-11-13 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We all have treasured possessions—a favorite pair of shoes, a much-beloved chair, an ever-expanding record collection. But sometimes, this emotional attachment to our belongings can spiral out of control and culminate into a condition called compulsive hoarding. From hobbyists and collectors to pack rats and compulsive shoppers—it is close to impossible for hoarders to relinquish their precious objects, even if it means that stuff takes over their lives and their homes. According to psychologist Dr. Robin Zasio, our fascination with hoarding stems from the fact that most of us fall somewhere on the hoarding continuum. Even though it may not regularly interfere with our everyday lives, to some degree or another, many of us hoard. The Hoarder In You provides practical advice for decluttering and organizing, including how to tame the emotional pull of acquiring additional things, make order out of chaos by getting a handle on clutter, and create an organizational system that reduces stress and anxiety. Dr. Zasio also shares some of the most serious cases of hoarding that she's encountered, and explains how we can learn from these extreme examples—no matter where we are on the hoarding continuum.

Download or read book The Complete Works of C H Spurgeon Volume 11 written by Spurgeon, Charles H. and published by Delmarva Publications, Inc.. This book was released on with total page 1037 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 11 Sermons 607-667 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to republish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.

Download or read book Inside the Crystal Ball written by Maury Harris and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-12-31 with total page 403 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A practical guide to understanding economic forecasts In Inside the Crystal Ball: How to Make and Use Forecasts, UBS Chief U.S. Economist Maury Harris helps readers improve their own forecasting abilities by examining the elements and processes that characterize successful and failed forecasts. The book: Provides insights from Maury Harris, named among Bloomberg's 50 Most Influential People in Global Finance. Demonstrates "best practices" in the assembly and evaluation of forecasts. Harris walks readers through the real-life steps he and other successful forecasters take in preparing their projections. These valuable procedures can help forecast users evaluate forecasts and forecasters as inputs for making their own specific business and investment decisions. Emphasizes the critical role of judgment in improving projections derived from purely statistical methodologies. Harris explores the prerequisites for sound forecasting judgment—a good sense of history and an understanding of contemporary theoretical frameworks—in readable and illuminating detail. Addresses everyday forecasting issues, including the credibility of government statistics and analyses, fickle consumers, and volatile business spirits. Harris also offers procedural guidelines for special circumstances, such as natural disasters, terrorist threats, gyrating oil and stock prices, and international economic crises. Evaluates major contemporary forecasting issues—including the now commonplace hypothesis of sustained economic sluggishness, possible inflation outcomes in an environment of falling unemployment, and projecting interest rates when central banks implement unprecedented low interest rate and quantitative easing (QE) policies. Brings to life Harris's own experiences and those of other leading economists in his almost four-decade career as a professional economist and forecaster. Dr. Harris presents his personal recipes for long-term credibility and commercial success to anyone offering advice about the future.
Download or read book The Book of Moldavite written by Robert Simmons and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2023-03-07 with total page 565 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A full-color guide to the history, science, and spiritual uses of Moldavite • Shares the author’s transformational discovery of the magic of Moldavite • Looks at Moldavite energy tools, how to combine Moldavite with other gemstones, and how to use Moldavite to transmit healing energy to people and places • Includes powerful Moldavite meditations and hundreds of photos, allowing you to attune to Moldavite’s energy without even being in its direct presence Created from the cataclysmic impact of a huge meteorite, Moldavite is a gemstone that is neither heavenly nor earthly but something new that emerged from their union. Classed scientifically with tektites, these rare green celestial objects showered down over what is now the Czech Republic some 14.8 million years ago. In the mid-1980s, a series of synchronicities brought Moldavite into the hands of Robert Simmons, and he began sharing its powerful effects with the world. In this full-color guide, Simmons tells the story of his discovery of Moldavite’s magic, weaving his knowledge of the stone’s spiritual qualities together with scientific and historical data as well as channeled information. He explains how Neolithic peoples in Europe made Moldavite amulets and tools and how several Moldavite amulets were discovered in the same archaeological dig as the famous Venus of Willendorf, the earliest known Goddess figurine. The author describes his dramatic personal awakening and the surprising circumstances that brought Moldavite to the center of his life and career. He shares tales of crop circles and energy vortexes, his adventures in Moldavite country, and ET connections. Revealing how the science of Moldavite’s origins resonates with ancient mystical legends, the author explores Moldavite’s connections with the alchemical Emerald Tablet and the fabled Stone of the Holy Grail. He looks at Moldavite energy tools, including wands, pendulums, waters, essences, body layouts, and crystal grids. He explains how to use Moldavite in photonic layouts to transmit energy to people, places, and bodies of water in order to heal and revitalize them. He leads the reader through Moldavite meditations for expanding awareness, and his wife, Kathy, offers her insights into Moldavite’s purpose and power and how we can align with it. Throughout the book are hundreds of full-color images of beautiful raw pieces, carvings, jewelry, and gems, allowing you to attune to Moldavite’s energy without even being in its direct presence. Shining a light upon the starborn gem that unites spirit and matter, the author shows how Moldavite is—literally and figuratively—a joining of Heaven and Earth.
